Lord First General Donos' Standing Orders for War

  • Consider these orders to be posted on the Barracks doors, read out as squads muster and repeated at morning musters at the front.
  • Obey your chain of command. If you need to question an order do so after obeying the order by speaking to your line officer. If you need to raise an issue further, do so with your line officer's superior, or one of the General Staff. Questioning a valid order may well see a charge of insubordination.
  • Disobeying a direct order at war is punishable by death. This punishment will be decided by the Lord First General or, in his absence or death, any other General at war, or Commander and so forth down the chain of command.
  • Prayer Sermons will happen regularly and on the eve of each battle. All soldiers not involved in specific other duties are expected to attend. Faith and trust in the gods will see us to victory.
  • The AirForce will fly constant combat air patrols to ensure our skies are clear. In the event of a raid on the camp, all soldiers will report to their duty stations. In the event of a raid on the march, the supply wagons, medics and other support personnel will enter the centre of our defensive lines.
  • Any soldier found to have withheld information that would be of benefit to the war effort will be subject to summary court martial and execution.
  • There will be no duelling at war. Soldiers found to have engaged in such practice will be subject to summary court martial and execution.
  • Do not eat food upon the ground. Only consume food you have brought with yourself and had safe, or food given to you by one of the 5th Division's cooks.
  • Non-Airforce or approved personnel are under no account to enter the Griffon Pens.
  • All healers at war must have been approved by Captain Wylma Histaru, or her appointed seconds, before attempting to heal their fellow soldiers. Healers are subject to further restrictions as decided by Captain Wylma Histaru.
  • Drunkenness while within enemy territory (i.e. the moment we march forth from our staging area until the liberation of Ellish) will be punished with a flogging, a second such offence will be punishable by summary court martial and execution. Alcohol is permitted; loss of ability to fight and obey orders is not.
  • Weapons must be carried at all times and before each battle all soldiers are expected to have checked their gear, armour, food and so forth to ensure they are ready to combat.
  • Cowardice in the face of the enemy may be punishable by summary court martial and execution at the Lord First General's discretion.
  • Theft, brawling, rape (including using rank to order such) and sundry other socially unacceptable offences will be punished at an officer's discretion, up to and including summary court martial and execution.
  • The 5th Division do a tireless job before and after each battle. Soldiers are reminded that without the 5th they would not eat, be healed, fly safely and so forth. Remember that advice.
  • Goat prisoners and their dead will not be mistreated lest we anger the gods. Slitting their Furry twisted throats that stain Aerval with their presence does not count as mistreatment. Punishment for this will be immediate execution.
  • Mail deliveries will be sent regularly to and from Anarinuell and other cities of the Republic, combat operations permitting. No information that may be of benefit to the enemy may be included in a letter to your families and friends. If you are in doubt of what to include, consult your superior officer.
  • There shall be no usage of rank or titles at the front. If you are addressing a superior officer you simply call them 'Sir'. If addressing a junior, use their name or 'soldier' or 'pilot'.
