Official Statement

Praise Obala, I am Inaya Vasaloo and I strive to be worthy. As should the rest of you, if you want to make it out of this alive. And yet, there's someone here who never minds letting his pride cost other people their lives. Everyone remembers how Prince Savaren refused to kneel until Hralib killed his brother Rislan and made a cup of his skull. Now it's the same thing all over again. Everyone knows that Hralib kept Savaren's wife, Princess Teonia, as a slave, and violated her publicly. Savaren swore revenge. He finally got it, and he doesn't care who has to die as long as his pride is intact.

Background

There's nothing the Shamibelians enjoy more than humiliating Firan women of great dignity like Inaya. Even though she's much older than the typical brothel slave, Shamibelian men get their jollies from making her miserable, because she used to be the High Priestess of the False Religion, as they call it. Fortunately, Fidelia was the more recent High Priestess, and therefore, it was Fidelia who was sacrificed instead of Inaya. And just in time too, because Inaya has seen the light--or the dark, as the case may be. She has converted to the faith of Obala, and is now one of its most passionate adherents. She wields great power in the slave temple.

Relationships

  • Torianos -- Inaya's beloved son and heir.
  • Melani -- Inaya's daughter-in-law.
  • Scithvor -- Inaya's Master
  • Fara and Aldrin -- Scithvor's other slaves. Inaya lives with them.
  • Fissia -- Scithvor's ex-wife and Inaya's former mistress.

Goals

  1. Inaya should proclaim that she is still the rightful High Priestess of the Firan Realms, and make everyone Drikkists.
  2. Inaya should try to place the blame for Hralib's death on one of the other Firan princes, like Lucas, lest it fall on Torianos.
  3. Inaya should seduce some clients--she needs to earn enough money to eventually buy her freedom, and since she used to be a High Priestess and an Ista Aldrik, many disgusting Shamibelians want to bed her for the fun of it.
  4. Inaya should convert some slaves to the faith of Obala, since the Firan Gods have abandoned them.
  5. Inaya should try to burn down the Firan Temples to those ungrateful Firan gods of the pantheon.
  6. Inaya should pray to Obala and make sacrifices in his name.
  7. Inaya should encourage others to get their blood leeched for religious redemption and purity in the eyes of Obala.

Inaya Round One

Round One Reveal

Inaya doesn't think the Firans should go around killing Shamibelians. After all, they are Obala's Chosen People.

Inaya knows that Perdita stole Hralib's Skull-of-Taria cup. If Hralib found out about it, he likely would never have forgiven her for literally "toasting with the Oshta". By the way, where is the cup now?

Everyone knows that Lucas used to be a Prince, and was thought to be a candidate to be the next Ranivor before Anarinuell was conquered. No doubt, he wants to prove to himself that he still has some power, and what better way to do that than to kill Hralib, the Governor of Anarinuell, and his all-too-willing slave girl, Throgana.

Everyone knows that Lucas was horrified that Hralib was burning all the scrolls in the Great Library. He feared that his Elianik family history would be lost, just like what happened to the Sennets. He said that no Shamibelian deserved to die more than Hralib, because he killed more than people, he killed history.

What Master Scithvor wants most in life is to become a Priest of Obala, and he would do anything to impress Drik--even kill.

Master Scithvor was bitterly resentful of Hralib trying to make him give up his full Shamibelian slave, Fara Tibenya, and was overheard to say, "I'll kill him before I let him take my slaves from me."

Akiva is fully literate in Shamibelian and can mimic people's signatures. Inaya would not be surprised if she forged a few permits in her day. Likely, she could get anywhere in the city without being stopped, or help the rest of them do so.

Everyone knows that Hralib gave the Ranivor's medallion to his loyal slave Throgana, to wear as a pretty piece of jewelry. Wouldn't any one of the Elianik Princes like Lucas, Zaridos, or Savaren kill to get it?

Everyone knows that Hralib gave Lainath permission to cut down the Ticanee totem poles, when he was clearing land with which to woo Tabitha. The Ticanee slaves were all horrified, and wanted Hralib and Lainath dead for this offense.

Round One Conceal

Melani confessed to Inaya that she is pregnant by Hralib. Inaya is very worried that Torianos may have found out, and killed Hralib in revenge.

Inaya has been sneaking onto "Pevifa's Plantation" for some time now, to visit the old Firan Temples there. Hralib had the gall to threaten her if he caught her there again. The fact is, he was the trespasser, she had plans, and Obala would have approved.

Inaya has been furious since the Fall of Anarinuell, and believes that the Firan Gods abandoned the people.

Inaya snuck into the Temple District last night, and ran into a dying man who begged her for help.

Inaya Round Two

Round Two Reveal

Elianiks are famous for brawling. Neither Savaren, Lucas, nor Zaridos would need a Ring of Hate like the one found on Hralib's body, to go at it with each other.

Inaya thinks that one of the Shamibelian women may have killed Hralib. After all, Hralib's own wife, Vitara Pevifa, was known to be spiteful. She let her own daughter, Fara, become a slave, and when she found out that Hralib was trying to free Fara, she was furious. She might have killed him over it. It's not like they had a happy marriage, even for goats.

And what about Hralib's other wife? Inaya supplied Nobifa with herbs to keep from getting pregnant--in Shamibelian culture, a marriage is not official until the first child is born. Could Nobifa have killed Hralib to keep him from finding out about her treachery?

Then there's Hralib's daughter-in-law Fissia and that stupid dog, Spike. Hralib did have a scratch on his face, and a missing finger. What if Fissia set her dog loose on him? It's so vicious it'll attack anyone. It even bit Fara last night.

And what about the Shamibelian men? Some of the firebombs that Ruffialo used for his bombing runs over the remaining Free Firan Cities have gone missing, and Hralib was livid about it, blaming him for the loss.

Malentez was reluctant to sell Savanna to Hralib because he was hoping she was pregnant with his daughter, and wanted to keep a daughter with him as a slave. Unbeknown to Malentez, with Hralib's approval, Savanna had been seeking out a large number of infertility potions. Malentez might have found out and felt that Hralib was trying to steal his slave away from him, and that's the kind of thing that causes bloodshed between Shami Warriors.

Oddly enough, Inaya received a message late last night from Savanna asking for some healing herbs because her master was shivering and soaked to the bone. Why was he so cold, and why was he wet? Was Malentez, perhaps, out late in the chill air, killing Hralib?

Inaya knows that Brizo was felled with a stomach wound the Night of Obala's Pride, and that it had to be bandaged up. Might he have been injured in a struggle with Hralib and might there not be an incriminating bloody knife somewhere to prove it?

Inaya saw Ruffialo and Sarina sneaking onto the land that Hralib was clearing for Pevifa, where all the old Firan temples are, and where Hralib's body was found this morning.

Inaya knows that Ruffialo was worshipping Firan gods on the property that Hralib was clearing for his wife--if Hralib caught him, a scuffle was sure to break out. And what with a big sacrificial fire there, he could have pushed him in, then wrapped the body in a rug and dropped it outside.

Round Two Conceal

Inaya stole Ruffialo's firebombs, and has them hidden in strategic locations in the Temple District.

Inaya was angry with Hralib for choosing the Temple District to clear for his wife--not because she cares about the Firan Gods, but because she believed that all the temples to the ungrateful Firan pantheon should be burned down.

Inaya plans to use the firebombs to blow up the Temple District, and if there are casualties, well, at least their souls will be saved.

It was Father Brizo that Inaya found bleeding behind Kamnestra's Temple. She didn't really want to help him, but her healing instincts took over.

She dragged him to safety and bandaged his wounds, but not before seeing a few very suspicious characters running about the area, and not before tripping over something on the way. Busy healing Brizo, Inaya didn't notice who those suspicious characters were, and isn't sure what kind of object she tripped over.

Inaya was really annoyed--Brizo bled all over her best tunic. Now that she's a slave, it's not like she has many.

Inaya Round Three

Round Three Reveal

Inaya knows that the water in the Temple of Zin's reflecting pool was grey and polluted on the morning that Hralib died (she saw it when she ran into Brizo bleeding and begging for help.)

Inaya remembers that Nobifa once suggested poisoning the pool in case the Firans tried to worship there again.

Inaya and Brizo tripped over Hralib's body under the Marble Arch at 4AM. Hralib was already dead, and wet. So Hralib couldn't have frozen to death--and Brizo and Inaya didn't kill him.

Hralib's step-son Bivin is probably not guilty because he and Hralib were actually getting along better recently because Hralib agreed to try to get Bivin's sister Fara out of slavery.

Aldrin once confessed to Inaya that he feared Emma would become a Shamibelian collaborator if she stayed with Hralib much longer. He was convinced he needed to save her soul. This morning, Aldrin was covered with ash, and had to take a bath. It's the same ash that Hralib had in his mouth. Inaya is sure that Aldrin was up to no good.

Jalil had a longstanding grudge against Throgana for turning on him when Lord Argus tried to seize control during the Alliance War.

Jalil once loved Throgana. The idea that she could choose a goat like Hralib over a Clan Leader like Jalil is something that his pride probably couldn't take. Is it a wonder that Jalil might try to kill her and her lover?

Jalil has been seeking a very strong concentration of poison, which, when ingested or put into the bloodstream on a poisoned blade, causes a quick death.

Round Three Conceal

Inaya had no plans of killing Hralib, but if he happened to get blown up by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, Inaya wouldn't have cried over it.
