IRINA MONTIGO

Born in Arinzi to Father Piarres Rianavalu and his wife Selva, Irina was raised in the Monotheist church. To many Irina was considered the perfect image of what a monotheistic woman should be: quiet, modest, and devoted to God and Family above all. She moved to Anarinuell and joined the Gold Dragon Clan after her marriage was arranged to Father Rasmus Montigo, High Inquisitor of the Gold Dragon clan. Her marriage to Rasmus was blessed with five children though she almost did not live past the birth of her eldest son. It was said that Zutiv's touch saved her life after much of the city joined together to pray for the young midwife. So many mothers had died, and it seemed like the people were rallying together to save this one. Zutiv's touch turned her hair from dark black to snow white but also changed her focus. She committted her life to the art of midwifery so that children would not be raised without mothers lost at birth.

She was widely regarded as one of the finest midwives of her day, much in demand for births across the city. She even assisted in organizing midwive training programs and other projects to increase the birth rate of the clan itself. But Irina was also devoted to clan and craft. Her shop, Dragons Den Designs, sold clothing and jewelry to the wealthiest and most powerful of the nobility. She would have given it all up in a moment, without hesitation, though, if her family or her God required it. Her life was cut short with the birth of a son but her memory remains alive through all the children and mothers she saved with her talents and devotion.
