Background
The Istanar family was considered somewhat backward before the Great War, when they were largely taken prisoner by the invading Shamibelians. One of the family's original matriarchs, Idalia, was a captive along with Lords Taleo and Tergus, and after those two Lords escaped, they sent back operatives to help her rescue her family as well.
It was largely for this reason that the Istanars went to Anarinuell along with the Teranziks - in fact, it was through the Teranziks that Idhalia met her husband-to-be, Meriht. Since those early days, the Istanar has been a family with close ties to Bear Clan nobility, and many of its members serve the Teranziks even still.

Accomplishments & Successes
- Odoni's career as a healer began rough and dangerous, when she slipped an arrow through Lord Halakeye's heart and killed him. An accident, it is said by some -- a willful murder, it is said by others. In any case, she was demoted to the rank of 'sentry' and sentenced to live her life as such. Perhaps for this reason, she threw herself into healing with a nearly unrivaled passion, determined that she would never take another life by error. Determined that no soldier should die by her healing hand. And, as she bandaged and tended wounds at home, and at war, her reputation began togrow, till at last, in 42 A.U., after healing 50 patients, she was recognized for what she was: a legend.
Scandals
Both Idalia and Meriht approached Taleo when he was making judgements as his last acts as the Bear Clan Leader, demanding to be ennobled. In response, Taleo had them both executed.
Dar was sent to the Griffon clan after an illegal marriage and stripped of his last name.
