Jaffus Family

Background
The Jaffus family has a long and colorful history as a military and merchant family of the Cockatrice Clan. It's most famous, or infamous member, was Admiral Jaffus who was famed throughout the clans for his heroics in sea battles long past and for his flamboyant lifestyle. One of the foremost cases on marital law within the Cockatrice Clan arose when it was discovered that Admiral Jaffus had three different wives -- one in each Cockatrice City port. As if this were not bad enough, none of the wives knew about the other. When they found out, the scandal and the infighting over inheritance rights was such that Admiral Jaffus was dishonorably discharged from the Cockatrice navy.
However, when the Great War erupted with the Shamibelians, there was little time to worry about scandal, and even less time to unravel which wife was the legitimate one and which children were bastards. Admiral Jaffus was given his commission back, and died of starvation related illnesses in the Caldera City after successfully bringing thousands of Firans to safety. It is said that the Admiral's sons have inherited his critical, arrogant and occasionally cruel ways. It is only because they are highly competent soldiers, and have an uncanny knack for knowing who they can and can't anger that they have done well in life.
There is some ongoing tension between the siblings about inheritance rights, and the squabbling in that family never ceases. Clan Leader Bannos once got so frustrated with all the competing claims that he declared all of the children of all of Admiral Jaffus' wives to be legitimate, and used Admiral Jaffus' fortune to build a family home in which all three "branches" of the family would have to live together. Most people feel that this is a horrible solution, but Clan Leader Bannos was said to be greatly amused by it.
