Official Statement
My name is Jalil Firgalik, and at least I'm not a suck up like Orsatos over here. When I was a Clan Leader, I learned one thing for sure--the asskissers were always the ones who were trying to plot a coup attempt. So frankly, if any of us killed Hralib, I'd put my money on the old scholar. He had his sticky fingers into everything. Hralib trusted him with all the books and I don't doubt that he was stealing from him. Throgana probably found out, told Hralib, and Old Man Orsatos decided he better kill them both to shut them up.
Background
Jalil has said, on numerous occasions, that he'd rather be dead than a slave, but that Hralib promised to kill his children if he took his own life. So here he is, in Anarinuell, day after day, watching the Shamibelians destroy everything he worked and sacrificed so hard to build. If he even tried to say he was sorry that Hralib or Throgana were dead, he'd burst out into such bitter laughter that no one would believe him.
Relationships
- Emma -- Jalil's beloved daughter.
- Tazira -- Jalil's other beloved daughter. He's distraught that she's been captured and to be auctioned off.
- Rodiste, Empyrean, Melani, Brizo, Perdita, and Orsatos -- Hralib's other slaves.
- Hralib -- Jalil's dead "master"
- Taria -- Jalil's ex-wife, now dead, with her skull made into a cup.
Goals
- Jalil wants to help ensure the success of any Firan rebellion or counter invasion that he can.
- Jalil wants to get his children out of slavery by any means necessary.
- Jalil wants to prove that someone other than Hralib's slaves killed him or else they'll all be executed.
- Jalil should keep Aldrin away from his daughter--he's not about to let a son of Fidelia near his little girl.
- Use Ladonna to communicate secret messages about the rebellion to the other rebel leaders.

Jalil Round One
Round One Reveal
Jalil always cautioned the Firans against killing Hralib, because he knew about the Shamibelian law that if a master is murdered and the crime cannot be solved, all of his slaves are assumed to be conspirators and put to death. Jalil did not want to risk his daughter's life that way.
Jalil knows that Dyanna berated him and the rest of Hralib's slaves, the morning Hralib died, for not protecting their master, and showed him a key to the Temple of Zin that she claimed had fallen off Hralib's keyring because his slaves were such slobs they didn't even bother to keep his equipment together or pick up after him.
Jalil thinks Dyanna was lying.
This morning, when Rodiste came to relieve Jalil of that horrid guard duty, he could swear he saw Rodiste stash something in the catacombs.
Rodiste also had blood on his hands.
Melani and Empyrean were frequently driven to heights of fury whenever they saw Hralib, drinking from a goblet made of their father Taleo's skull. There is no doubt that Empyrean wanted him dead and the reminder of the last sacrifice, at the Night of Obala's Pride, probably sent him over the edge. Or Melani could have done it for the same reason.
Hralib found Empyrean to be a nearly worthless slave, and forced him to learn to weave rope to "make himself useful" and gave him a lot of blue dyed pema to work with. The ropes that held the rug around Hralib's body were blue.
Jalil remembers that in the old days, when Shamibelians took over Firan cities, and desecrated holy places, the Gods got very angry. Zin flooded Arinzi, and Unot turned Governor Jomo into a silver statue. Might not Hralib's dead body being found in this way, in the Temple District, been a work of the Gods?
Round One Conceal
Someone knows that when Jalil was captured, he tried to commit 'suicide by warlord' by attacking a group of Shamibelians on the walls of Anarinuell. But they remembered him, and refused to kill him. They want him in chains. Hralib simply promised Jalil that if he killed anyone trying to escape or bring about his end, that he would harm his daughter Emma, and Jalil believed him.
Jalil was horrified to find Throgana happily living amongst the Shamibelians, and several times, asked Emma to help him 'put Throgana out of her misery'.
Jalil asked Emma to help him kill Throgana at 8PM on the Night of Obala's pride, but she refused. Emma was scared, and Throgana was getting to her mind, and warping it.
Jalil suspected that his daughter Emma was pregnant with Hralib's haffie monstrosity, and he swore that he'd never let her give birth to such an abomination, even if he had to force her to drink a little poison and abort the child.
He'd rather see her dead than have to go through that.
The Night of Obala's Pride, Jalil went into Emma's cosmetic bag. He stole some sparkly silver cosmetic paint.
Hralib assigned Jalil to guard the catacombs the morning after Fidelia was sacrificed, because he said he knew Jalil would not want to see his old enemy given proper funeral rites. All Jalil knows is that pulling an extra shift of duty has made him exhausted, and who knows what got by him while he was standing guard.
Jalil is a member of the Firan Resistance, along with all the Elianik Princes, and Ladonna.
Jalil hated Hralib with a passion, especially since Hralib took Emma's virginity at the Virgin Races once they were captured. But he thought it was a bad idea to kill him unless they had a really good plan, and he hasn't heard one yet.
Emma knows how to forge permits. Hralib never tolerated such disobedience in his slaves. If he found out, or Throgana found out and was going to tell him, she'd have had to kill them both to save her own life.
Round One Props
- Work shovel or rake
- Silver Paint

Jalil Round Two
Round Two Reveal
Jalil knows that Hralib's home life was not easy. He had a bunch of resentful wives and step-daughters. Any one of them could have killed him.
Pevifa was nagging Hralib to clear the Temple of Zin for her, and make it habitable, because she had chosen it to be her personal steam house. Worse, the woman kept getting more and more jealous, even of Hralib's slaves. She even slapped Emma on the dance floor when Hralib was paying attention to her.
After the altercation with Pevifa on the dance floor, Hralib and she briefly argued, then danced together. Trouble in paradise? What did he say to Pevifa while they were dancing that made her want to kill him?
What about Hralib's other wife, Nobifa? Nobifa made a very public showing of her upset that she hadn't yet gotten pregnant by Hralib, and she blamed his attentions on Throgana for it.
Jalil was assigned to guard Nobifa's home from raiders at night, so he knows that on the Night of Obala's Pride, she didn't return home until 4AM. What respectable Vitara stays out so late unless she's up to no good?
Moreover, Nobifa returned to her home (formerly Kamnestra Hall) and her burka was covered in ashes.
Hralib wanted to marry his step-daughter Tabitha off to one of his old friends, but she got it in her head that she was of the new 'liberal' generation, and was in love with Lainath Samiroon, who through a convoluted set of legal maneuvers, is a Shamibelian Warrior with some Firan blood. Hralib said that he'd let her marry Lainath "over my dead body" so it seems she gave him his wish!
Jalil knows that Tazira was raised a Good Gold Dragon Woman--how could she ever kill anyone?
Ladonna is the Mata Hari of the resistance movement, and carries messages between the Firans in coded songs. If she's willing to take those risks, wouldn't she take the risk of assassinating the Shamibelian Governor?
The rebellion intended to kill Hralib to sew confusion just before the Firans launched a counter-invasion against Anarinuell. Perhaps Ladonna had the opportunity and just jumped the ballista?
Sarina was, up until just yesterday, Hralib's slave and that their relationship was troubled.
Sarina did not want Hralib to sell her, that she had fallen slightly under his sway, and that she exhibited signs of heartbreak at being sold away like chattle. She may have felt betrayed enough to kill him.
Sarina and Throgana hated one another, and often got into fist fights. It's one of the reasons Sarina was sold--maybe she decided to get even with Throgana for getting rid of her.
Sarina had taken a form of Endab that she learned from the Bonduins and turned it into a new martial arts form with the use of torches. Wasn't Hralib burned on his face and hands?
Jalil knows that Zaridos, Torianos, Lucas, and Savaren all got into a terrible fight the Night of Obala's Pride. Perhaps one of them was wearing the Ring of Hate that was later found on Hralib's body--it is rumored to make Firans murderously violent.
Round Two Conceal
When Jalil realized that the Shamibelians weren't going to kill him, no matter what he did, he tried to commit suicide by hanging himself. Unfortunately, the blue rope he used was made by Empyrean, and done poorly. It snapped, and Jalil lived. But not before receiving a vision from Unot.
Unot did not approve of Jalil's choice, but promised him that there would be vengeance, and prophesied that "When the Governor of Anarinuell falls, my people shall be avenged. Mark the traitors and the Shamibelians with silver, so I shall know them when I come to reap my harvest."
Akiva forged Jalil and the princes permits that allowed them to sneak away to have their rebel's meeting.
The idiot princes got into an argument and actually brawled in the Temple of Zin. Jalil was angry with them for fighting in a temple, and demanded that Zaridos hand over a ring that he was wearing. Jalil recognized it as the Ring of Hate that Tatomir always wore. He has no idea how the Princes got ahold of it.
Jalil said, "Give me that effing ring" and stalked off with it. He gave it to Aldrin as a token of his "blessing". Really, Jalil hoped the idiot would do something stupid and get himself killed so that he'd stay away from Emma.
The reason Savaren had a bloody nose is because the Firan Princes were brawling over a strategy disagreement.
The reason Savaren came home wet and shivering on the Night of Obala's pride is because when he and Zaridos got into an argument about strategy during their revolutionary meeting, Zaridos shoved him in the pool of Zin.
Lucas once said the Firan Resistance would go better if some prominent examples of Firan traitors could be killed, to show what happened to collaborators like Throgana.
Lucas was wet and shivering because when the Princes got into an argument about strategy, Zaridos pushed him in the pool of Zin.
Jalil put poison in Emma's cosmetic bag.
Round Two Props
Round Two Additional Goals
- Find out who all the Shamibelian collaborators and sympathizers are.
- Find a way to mark the Shamibelians and their sympathizers with silver paint.
- Jalil isn't afraid to die. He should be prepared to confess to the killing if it will save his daughter. But that's a last resort.
Jalil Round Three
Round Three Reveal
Aldrin was in possession of Tatomir's Ring of Hate the Night of Obala's Pride, and yet somehow, it ended up on Hralib's person. How did that happen?
Aldrin is in love with Emma and was viciously jealous of Hralib touching her.
The pool at the Temple of Zin was clear and sparking, with a little layer of ice on the top the Night of Obala's Pride, but now it's filthy with ash and there's a two-man-size-hole in the ice. They suspect Hralib was drowned there, and that the water simply froze on him after he was already dead.
Round Three Conceal
To be more specific, Jalil put poison into the nailpolish that he knew Emma was going to use on Throgana.
Jalil remembered that Throgana was a nailbiter, and figured it was just a matter of time.
Jalil thinks that Throgana died of poison that she ingested from biting her nails, so even if someone did strangle her to death, she was already a dead woman.
The curiosity is how Hralib died. That was never part of Jalil's plan.
But the scratch mark on Hralib's back gives Jalil an idea.
Round Three Props
Round Three Additional Goals
- Conspire with the other rebels to finally bring about the freedom of the Firan people.
- Failing that, find a way to die gracefully, in a way that will bring you into Unot's happy embrace. You won't accept living as a slave another day.
