JANA MAGEERAN

Jana Mageeran was killed on Apr 4, 34 A.U. by one of the mobs that spawned after the actions of Draugik, a halfie, led to the death of Eagle Clan Leader Zeysani. Jana had only been in her early 20s at the time of her death. She had been born into a well thought of middle class family in the Hydra Clan, but lost her mother as a child to the water-sickness that went through the city. She was raised by her Aunt Hattie, and by her grandfather (Ameer) and her father (Abderus). Jana and others were at one time captured by Shamibelians and held by them until the group was rescued. Her courage and bravery under the duress and torment of captivity, and her kindness to the other captives, was an inspiration and a comfort to those with her. This impressed Lord Xegolus, a fellow captive, and was a factor in the betrothal of Jana and Lord Captain Urminius Shadina that was eventually cancelled by her family. This capture solidified the young woman's hatred of Shamibelians and halfies, which lends a certain irony and tragedy to her death at the hands of an anti-halfie mob. Given the tensions at the time between the Eagle and Hydra clans, some are even known to mutter about how suspicious it is that a known halfie-hater was killed by a mob hunting halfies. Others say that she was just tragically in the wrong place at the wrong time. Either way, she was a young woman whose early death kept her from ever reaching her full potential as a potter, and removed a beloved young woman from her family and her Clan.
