Overview
An elderly woman with high cheek bones, Jia has sky blue eyes,knee-length straight white hair and fair skin. Jia appears to weigh about 140 pounds and stands about 5'3" tall. Her prominent bone structure and shrewd eyes give this matriarch a sophisticated and energetic appearance. This woman walks with an air of independence -- comfortable with herself, aware of her power, and quite enjoying it. She views the world with flashing blue eyes that look as if they can't be fooled, and though her body shows the signs of a long and fulfilling life, she seems sturdy and strong. Her hair is pulled back in an elegant twist.
Early History
A flirtatous meeting at a Sarkaran festival led the Lurashar born Jia into falling in love with the Arinzi born Quadeem. Her parents tried to dissuade her as Quadeem was from a poor family and she was of a much higher station in life. But when you're young and in love, you believe only in love. Jia gave him the world and three children although they were extremely young themselves. Two very different people as Jia was headstrong and full of life and Quadeem was boorish and wanted to show his bride who was boss. Jia tried to make the marriage work as best she could. However the Great War came and Jia and the children fled with the others northward while Quadeem went to war and was declared dead, she decided she must go on for the sake of her children. A few years later after Jia had started to make a life for herself, Quadeem reappeared. He was angry at her for moving onward. They tried to make the marriage work but it was too difficult. They focused on accumlating land and were eventually nobled as House Jianni. But the Hydran man must be in charge and wife doesn't do what he wants, she gets beaten did not set well with Jia. By this time, she truely fallen in love with a mer she had met at the festival, Tanik. This did not set well with Quadeem who was determined to destroy his wife for what he saw as her 'infidelity'. He took her children from her in a rather messy divorce which destroyed House Jianni. The courts were a little more liberal and awarded her half the land. Soon after the divorce, she married Tanik and had three more children. When the Hydrans fled to Arinzi once more, all of their lands were confiscated. Jia petitioned and won the remaining Jianni lands, once more gaining enough to be enobled which eventually happened, forming the Tanelish Family.
Recent History
Jia has truely adjusted to her new life. She has been spending more time in Anarinuell. She is a business woman and enjoys being a noble once more. She's been debating restarting the Debate Club.
Personality & Beliefs
Strong-willed, determined, and known for her strength of character, Jia is somewhat a figure of legend in Firan society -- having once led a Firan noble family, and having brought that same noble family to ruin in a messy divorce which consumed the attention of most of the gossips in Anarinuell for years. But all of that is nearly two decades old now, and having rebuilt her life and regained nobility, Jia has the characteristics of someone who can be a fantastic ally, a dangerous enemy, and a loyal friend. She is a dedicated follower of Mother Soli.

Jia was the Minister of Families for the Eagle Clan. She recently stepped down in favor of Lady Kassia Iberik.
Jia was appointed Republic Minister of Families. It's a full time position and has taken up a lot of time. It lead to the decision to step down as Eagle minister as there are not enough hours in the day to do both, especially at her age.
Family Life
As head of the Tanelish Family, Jia has many important decisions to make. When the Cyrani family were merged into the Tanelish, Jia has tried to be fair as she possibly can. Her main focus is running the family business of the storage vault.
Siblings
Jia had an older half sister, Lianette whom she never met. She received a copy of the will when it was brought by Lianette's daughter Arosette as she had arrived from Lurashar. Unfortunately Arosette vanished leaving only her daughter Lissa there with Jia. Udette is the second sister and a widow. She's quite used to working lands and Jia trusts her completely. Udette has two children, Udettos and Seyhalia whom has been married into the Shadina family. Udettos is married to Aylina and has several children. Indigios is the brother of the family and has had an off and on relationship with his elder sister. He's been known to be in trouble and Jia will not stand for any more scandal (as she caused enough). He's behaved since he was reaccepted back into the family and is married to Ishani. They have several children. Indigios' adopted son, Kamen caused some scandal for himself but fortunately, the family has weathered that storm. Jennette was the youngest of the siblings and had two children: Ranselis and Jehara. Unfortunately Jennette died giving birth to her daughter. The family recently suffered another loss when Ranselis was killed in the liberation of Ellish. He is survived by his bride Lucia (nee Junik). Jennette's husband, Haranos has been dead for several years.
Marriage
Jia's first marriage to Quadeem was a complete disaster. It ended in divorce.
Jia is truely in love with her second husband Tanik. The two understand each other and if anything were to happen to one, the other would be completely lost. As such, she is a strong supporter in love matches when possible.
Children
Lutrios is Jia's first born and she's given up ever talking civily to him. He believes all the negative things that brute of his father has told him about her. He blames her for his first wife Inessa being poisoned even. He's married with several children. There is some communication between Jia and her second son by Quadeem, Payudos. It's still estranged but at least he will speak to her. Maybe someday she can explain the truth to him, however as he's a Hydran, she somehow doubts it. He's married to Hattie and has a nice family. Jia gets along better with Hattie than she does anyone else in the family. Yrenia is her daughter from her first marriage. Yrenia married out of the Hydrans and into the Gold Dragon Aurik family. She still has little to do with her mother. Jia's actually made more headway with two of Yrenia's children, Recis and Vesia whom she does speak to. Too bad Recis had to get himself killed. Jia mourns his loss and misses his children (her great-grandchildren). Nikos is the firstborn of Jia and Tanik's marriage. He's her pride and joy. He's a pilot in the military which does not set well with Jia's overprotective nature. He's married to Toozi and they have several children. Suphi is Jia's first daughter with Tanik. She's impulsive, headstrong and has no sense of business as her attention span is as long as a gnat's. Jia loves her to death anyways. Suphi is married to Isio and have several children. Jia's youngest is Jeanette, named for her late aunt. A late in life baby, Jeanette always seems to be angry and trying to get attention. Fortunately, she's a lot like Jia with a head for business. Jia's high hopes for this one.
Accomplishments & Successes
Jia's accomplishment is this... she's gone from commoner to noble back to commoner and back to noble and now leads a rather wealthy neonoble family. She's also a near legendary teacher and her land managment skills are also near legendary. It's rumored her skills at propaganda are second to none. She's taught some of the most powerful and influential men in the city and was once secretary to Viceroy Atredies. She has also been known to win the social penthalon.
Scandals & Failures
The entire marriage to Quadeem and the divorce which resulted in the destruction of House Jianni.
Enemies
Quadeem would be an enemy if he were still alive. Jia thanks the gods every day that he is no longer alive. Unfortuantely, her son Lutrios would have to be counted as an enemy as there is no telling what poison his father put into him.

Habits
Jia is a rather typical Firan neonoble woman. She spends time in the temple and in dealing with her sponsorees. If she can, she tries to mother her sponsorees. Being 'new money' she has a tendancy to flaunt her wealth.
