Judge

Overview
JUDGE
Judges are employed either by the Republic or the clans, to serve in the courts and preside over criminal and civil trials. They are typically middle class at least, often nobles, and well respected members of the community. Clan Chieftains also have the authority to act as judges, as does the Ranivor.
As a matter of custom, a judge will usually be of equal or higher social class than the defendant(s). In trials where death or exile may be the likely sentence, only the clan chieftans and their proxies for the clan, or the Ranivor or his representative himself will preside over those cases, as they are the only ones with the authority to make death or banishment sentences.
Playing a judge requires quite a bit of knowledge about the game's society and its IC social mores and expectations, and there is an extensive 'news legal system index' in place.
Equipment
There is little physical equipment required.
Attributes and Skills
Character attributes more attributed to the vocation of judge are in the mental (memory, reason, intuition, attention) and social (command, shrewdness) categories.
There are three law category skills in the game. law/civil, law/constitutional and law/criminal Levels in these skills are more reflective of what the character knows.
Additional skills that a judge may find helpful are adjudication, bs detection, literacy, and language skills, particularly if they do not speak the native tongue of the defendants.
