Jaran smiles. "Ah, so you've decided to come back to Anarinuell and act like a true nobleman, finally." He has an air of sarcasm and crotchety bitterness in his voice, but his eyes twinkle at seeing you. {Firan} Jaran says, "They _said_ you were in town, but I hadn't seen you, and it's not like you came to see your old man. I did get lots of little bags of silver with your name on them, marked for the charity. And I did try to arrange some tutoring for little Yasha, who managed to grow into quite a well-mannered little lady, somehow." {Excellent Firan} Jaran takes a deep breath and lets it out in a long sigh. "So, tell your grandfather what you're doing with your life." {Firan}
Yaffros sighs, although his eyes match the older man's twinkle, "Grandfather, you know that business as kept me busy of late. And I too have been looking into tutoring for Yasha and may have even found a man."
Jaran looks skeptical. "Who?" {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros shrugs. "I did not bother myself with remembering the man's name. Although I do remember that he is in service to the Queen. Surely that should be fine enough."
Jaran wrinkles his face. "He's expensive then." {Firan}
Yaffros smiles with a nod. "Yes, but it is for Yasha." {Firan}
Jaran seems to melt at that. Jaran says, "Well, then. All right." {Excellent Firan} Jaran says, "You know about our new acquisitions, don't you?" {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros raises an eyebrow, shaking his head as he pulls over a stool newly introduced to the room, "Please, share. I have been busy on a new business project."
Jaran straightens his clothes, pulling them around him for warmth. "Let's see. We picked up a few new titles this Fall. One was part of the deed to the Diplomat Inn. The account books are a mess! I spent a while cleaning them up and I arranged for our chef, Mes Dinotra Darkas, to start working there as well. She keeps half the profits of the special dishes she makes and serves, and the rest of the profit goes to us. In return, I hope she draws in more business." {Excellent Firan} Jaran continues, "No one has collected our profits from either her or Oktar since we opened, so you should see to that." {Excellent Firan} Firans settle in for their evening meals.
Yaffros ahs. "Nothing other than the Inn then? I have been keeping track of that. I spend my noon meal there quite often." {Firan}
Jaran scratches his head. "There was another deed." He looks worried. "My memory isn't what it used to be, you know." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros sighs. "You should leave the business dealings to me, Grandfather. You cannot even remember what you have purchased." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran looks quite cross at that. "Well, at least I'm around." {Firan} Jaran turns around and stomps half way across the room.
Yaffros raises a hand, "Do not start on that track! I have been around doing business. I don't see you complaining about Sedrik."
Jaran says, "Well, he's a lost cause. I still have hope for you." {Firan}
Yaffros shakes his head. "Nice set of logic you have there, old man. This mystrey deed of your's coming back to you?"
Jaran says, "Your mother should teach you more respect for your elders. At least your brother doesn't insult me to my face. Perhaps I should leave the fortune to him when I go." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros raises an eyebrow. "You want the Iberiks to die off?"
Jaran says, "The Iberiks will never die off. Don't underestimate our bloodline. But I'd rather we died off than turn into the kind of selfish and rude boor that you've been acting today." {Firan}
Yaffros rolls his eyes, "I suppose it would be better to end up a family of drunks without a steni to our name?"
Jaran says, "He has ambitions, Yaffros. Don't underestimate your brother's character or strength." {Excellent Firan} Jaran says, "If you spent more time helping him out rather than gallavanting around the countryside like you're a young Elianos, then you might know him better." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros says, "I know him as well as I need to. Only the gods know how many time I have saved him from a life behind bars. You, yourself said, 'He is a lost cause.'" {Excellent Firan}
Jaran fumes, "Well I didn't mean it!" {Firan}
Yaffros shakes his head, "Come on, grandfather, you are the last man to say such a thing with out reason behind it."
Jaran says, "What do you know of reason." {Firan} Jaran says, "I'm hungry." {Excellent Firan} Jaran has left.
You go through the the door to the dining hall.
Yaffros follows after Jaran. "Look, I am sorry I came down on you for forgetting the new deed. Just tell me when you remember, alright?" A few lights can be seen burning bright this evening as some hard working Firans tend to their chores.
Jaran says, "Of course I will. Anyway, I didn't buy it. Your brother did." {Firan} Jaran eats 1 fish cakes.
Yaffros blinks. "For what?"
Jaran says, "Drik's soul if *I* know. I think he's trying to make good and be responsible." {Firan}
Yaffros snorts. "Surely you cannot believe that. The day Sedrik does more than drink wine with his pals down at the bar will happen the same day he is named Ravinor"
Jaran says, "I think the place he bought was some kind of art store. It tied into his new charity." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros says, "Oh, -that-." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "Has it made any money yet?" {Firan}
Yaffros shakes his head. "Not that I know of. He still has to find a Clan Leader to back him."
Jaran says, "No, not the charity. I assume he's not doing half bad with that -- though not as well as I do with the Endowment. I mean the store. You seem to already know about it... how is it doing?" {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros smiles, "Ah, let's just say that I have seen Clan Leaders there mutiple times weekly." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "Where? At the art store? Are we talking about the same thing here?" {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros blinks. "The art store? No, I was speaking of the Diplomat. I would be surprized to learn we have made a single steni on the art store."
Jaran frowns, "So would I. Perhaps you should sell it. Or at least rent it out to some other poor sucker." {Firan}
Yaffros nods. "I will see what I can do." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "Thank you." {Firan} Jaran says, "I think I'll turn in early tonight. If you see your mother, tell her I wanted to see her." {Firan}
Yaffros says, "Will do, sleep well, grandfather. I have another business investment I want to talk to you about later." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "What is that?" {Firan} Jaran leans over on his cane, his ear perked up at any hint of new business.
Yaffros says, "An establishment like the Diplomat on the river. A ship." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "An interesting idea." He scratches his neck. "Do you think you can make it float?" he teases. {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros chuckles. "Seriously, it has a lot of credit. I already have some other nobles investing." {Firan}
Jaran says, "Who?" {Firan} Jaran looks suspicious. "I can tell you who you can trust in this city." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros raises an eyebrow. "And you do not think I know? Let's see..."
Jaran says, "You think you know them better than I?" {Firan} Jaran chuckles sarcastically, "Oh, that's right. You made the Iberik fortune and let me spend it from time to time." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros says, "This family would not run without me. Sebrik would have spoiled it by now." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, explaining and lecturing, "You might be useful to the family now, young man, but you did not make the fortune. You did not see the family wealth through more than one war, the Exodus, the rebuilding of Anarinuell..." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros nods. "That was your generation, this is mine. You think you know my business world better than I do?" {Firan}
Jaran says, "Maybe I do." {Firan}
Yaffros says, "Alright, I will listen to your thoughts... first will you listen to my current list of investors though?" {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "How much do you bring in for every plot of land we own, hm?" {Firan} Jaran stops mid-taunt. Jaran says, "Go ahead." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros says, "The Didorons, The Royal Family of the Eagle, Lord Banik, and futhermore the Queen owes me a favor." {Firan}
Jaran chuckles. "Lord Banik? He's but a boy." {Excellent Firan} Jaran says, "What about Lady Sarcia? Lady Eve? They'd probably be interested in a new high class restaurant. Perhaps Lords Torvahl and Judano." {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros smiles. "His father will be more than willing to invest through him... I helped the boy from a much unpleasent situation recently."
Jaran says, "You think you can get to Lord Bannos through his son? Doubtful, but I suppose it's an idea." {Firan}
Jaran says, "Lord Bannos isn't much on social graces, but you might lure him in on the novelty of the idea." {Firan}
Yaffros nods. "We will see." He casually adds, "I did save the boy's life." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran 's interest piques. "Oh? What happened?" {Excellent Firan}
Yaffros says, "The details are of little importance. The point is the boy owes me a favor as does his family." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran shrugs. "Fine. Be stubborn. I'm going to bed." {Firan} Jaran heads out the door.
Yaffros follows after him. "What do you mean stuborn? I am not being stuborn, I am just not wasting your time with pointless details." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran goes through the the door to the East Wing. Jaran has left. You go through the the door to the East Wing. Jaran says, "What now?" {Firan}
Yaffros quickly follows, "Go to bed if you like but do not get mad at me for matters of petty importance."
Jaran says, "Saving a noble boy's life is hardly a petty matter." {Excellent Firan} Jaran has left. You follow Jaran.
Anarinuell: Iberik Mansion -- Atrium
Contents: Jaran Loria
Loria smiles to Yaffros as he passes her.
Jaran hobbles along on two old legs and a cane, stopping and turning around to say things to Yaffros. He's obviously very annoyed.
Loria watches Jaran as he approaches Yaffros, noting the annoyed look on his face.
Yaffros says, "Fine! You want to hear what happend? He decided to go off on some adventure by the river. I thought to follow him later on only to discover that he and a commoner companian had be attacked by a wild boar. I got the pair to safety. Happy now?!" {Excellent Firan}
Loria arches a brow at this outburst, her curiosity peeked at what she overhears.
Jaran shouts back, "Yes, I'm happy!" {Firan} Jaran stomps towards the west wing. Jaran has left. You follow Jaran.Loria has arrived.
Loria follows behind the other two hoping to hear more of what has been going on.
Jaran says, "Do something about your boy, Loria. He has no manners." {Excellent Firan}
Loria arches her brow again. "What are you talking about? There is nothing wrong with his manners!
Jaran looks at Loria. "Well, with that attitude, it's no wonder he grew up the way he did." {Excellent Firan}
Loria smiles.. "Perhaps he takes more from you, Jaran.
Jaran says, "If he does, it's only because I'm around more." {Firan}
Yaffros shakes his head. "Honestly! I will take the blame but you two stop shouting!"
Jaran yells, "I'm not shouting!" {Excellent Firan}
Loria says "So if he takes after you, then perhaps that is where his manners originated?" she smiles to Yaffros and Jaran.. "Now tell me what is all this commotion about, anyway?"
Jaran says, "Your son seems to think that saving a boy's life is petty and trivial." {Excellent Firan}
Loria pats her son on the shoulder.. "I am not yelling, son. But your grandfather knows no other way to speak.
Jaran quirks, "It's the only way to get the words through that Thick Skull Of His." {Excellent Firan}
Loria stares at Yaffros.. "What is it he says, Yaffros? Who is it you are talking about?
Yaffros says, "No, the details are petty and trivial. I helped Lord Banik two days ago and was explaining that he was in my debt." {Firan}
Loria nods her head a few times as some of the details come to light. What is it you helped him with? And why is your grandfather so upset?
Jaran says, "I asked him what had happened, and he told me it was inconsequential. He's just being rude to gall me." {Excellent Firan} A breeze blows across the lands making fires everywhere flicker.
Loria shakes her head to her father.. "Not everything that happens is done to gall you, father. Why don't you give the boy a chance to explain?
Yaffros sighs. "There was nothing rude about it. I just felt we should get on with discussing my business idea." To Loria, "The boy was drowning."
Loria turns to Yaffros as if waiting for further explanatino. Loria says "Who was drowning?"
Yaffros says exasperated, "Lord Banik, mother." {Firan}
Jaran huffs, "He didn't want to explain. He told me it was not important and blew me off." {Excellent Firan} Jaran says, "See, Yaf, even your mother insists on hearing the details." {Firan}
Yaffros raises a hand. "But we were not in the middle of discussing matters of business." He heads towards his room. "I am going to get some sleep. We will talk of this again tomorrow." {Excellent Firan}
Jaran says, "Good night!" {Excellent Firan} Jaran slams his door as he goes to bed. Jaran goes through the the door to Jaran's chamber. Jaran has left.
Yaffros calls after Jaran, "Likewise!"
