Overview
Karana Karanik was born in the city of Coralut in the year 3 B.U. to Nira and Velis. She moved to Anariunell shortly after her and her brother's marriages, where both sides of the family took one name and started their own, large family -- the Kenirans.
Karana started off as a simple healer, with an overwhelming desire to heal hearts and minds, as well as physical ailments, focusing first on her family, then branching out quickly. She entered the Firanosian temple, becoming ever-present and devout. She entered politics as a Republic Delegate, an advisor to clan and Republic and as a Diplomat.
Through many tribulations, many deaths of family and friends, through the most recent Apostasy scandal, Karana has attempted to get her and her family through it all, remaining steadfast and loyal to those institutions she believes in: her Temple, her Clan and, most of all, her Family.

Family Life
Siblings
- Barish(d) - A promising young Commander of the military and Karana's sworn protector as the Oldest Brother, killed while bear hunting. Karana kept a pet squirrel named Barish for many years, desperately missing her dear friend and brother.
- Uvilonar(d) - Captured and killed during the campaign of 21 AU. Karana misses him terribly, a little bit of energy gone from the house forever, with he and his wife, Ajila, both gone.
- Alok - Karana's youngest older brother, she feels supremely overprotective of him, as he's all she has left of her brothers. The quiet, more reserved one, a well respected guard for many years, until the Apostasy changed their lives forever.
Marriage
- Ocarian - her heart, her very spirit. Karana often loses herself in trying to be everything for everyone, but Ocarian keeps her grounded. They've had their ups and downs, definitely, with a couple very near disastrous years. But through it all, Karana has always loved her husband very much. He is her world and without him, she is diminished.
Children
- Karish - her light, her joy, her beloved son. Karana dotes on her boy, her miracle baby, having nearly died giving birth to him. She's always been supremely overprotective, fretting every time he goes off on his own. Now that he's a grown adult, she wants nothing more than to see him happy with a family of his own, to see him successful and putting behind all of the pain of the past. She has taught him everything social he knows, instilled in him the ideals of honor, family and loyalty. There is no denying Karana's pride in her son.
- Firana - Karana's youngest natural daughter, a surprise and a miracle nonetheless. She was born in the Temple of Firanos priest's quarters and Karana has dedicated her to Firanos. She's fiery and ill-tempered, but Karana loves her desperately.
- Kalori - The eldest of Karana's adopted daughters, originally adopted by Uvilonar and Ajila. Karana's little princess, there has always been some slight disconnect between the two. Kalori tends to live just outside of reality, and Karana has to keep her in check. Karana loves Kalori and wants only the best for her... even if it may seem like she's manipulating Kalori into living in the real world.
- Nica - Adopted after the deaths of Uvilonar and Ajila, Nica is Karana's little warrior woman, a sweet girl with a quick to flare, quick to cool temper. Married to Elif, Karana misses spending time with her vivacious daughter.
- Veliana - The only natural daughter of Uvilonar and Ajila, adopted by Karana and Ocarian following Ajila's death. Veliana is a dark, quiet young woman who carries sadness and despair wherever she goes. The young woman feels unloved and completely alone, ever since Ajila was killed. Karana's heart breaks every time, but she stubbornly refuses to let Veliana sink into despair, trying over and over to make her dear daughter smile.
Accomplishments
- Giant Adventure - Karana was chosen as the healer, diplomat and translator for the trip up to the Giants, after an giant eagle delivered the request for a meeting. Her story is detailed in scrolls in the Great Library, and she longs to visit them again some day.
- Temple of Firanos - Karana has become the Acting High Priestess of the Firanosian temple, active and fervent in her desire to please her god and restore the temple to honor. She has begun writing a Treatise on Peace, restarted the old traditional ceremonies and is developing sects to strengthen the temple. Karana loves Firanos and his ways, living and breathing them with every waking moment.
- Republic Delegate - Karana worked very hard to get the Delegates active during her time, becoming the head of the delegate council in the process. One day, Firanos willing, she hopes to reenter politics and return the Delegates to the public mind as a tool and a voice.
- Hope's Home Orphanage - Karana helped get Akiva's Orphanage rebuilt and renamed, so Chimeran citizens could have a safe place to care for their orphans.
- Diplomatic Corps - Karana, in her service to Firanos and the Republic Military has formed a Diplomatic corps to train and serve as translators and mediators to avoid inter-clan conflict as much as possible. She also serves as a very skilled healer and Medic
Enemies
Karana's enemies are not known to her. She has had conflicts of opinion, however with Clan Leader Taria Oshta in regards to her brother Alok's wife, Garra. She also often debates ideologies with the True Temple of Zutiv's priests, but does not consider them enemies in any way.
Allies
Karana's allies are numerous and she tends to make close friendships easily. Dame Latta, Mother Urtenia, Lord Atreides, Lord Xegolus have all passed to Unot and have left a significant hole in Karana's heart.
Her friends and those she counts as allies still living are numerous, including the Mondariks, Nicolos, Lord Primo, Lord Marsalos, Kelarik, Dinesh, Lady Ishani, Lady Melani, Lord Viceroy Taleo, Lady Savanna, Odoni, Sharin and the other, redeemable Rissiks, as well as many, many others.
Scandals
Antonian Apostasy Karana's nephew was implicated, and eventually found guilty to be a part of the Antonian Apostasy, in order to overthrow the current leadership. As punishment for his supposed involvement, and based on the predisposition against him, due to his mother Garra, Moyanik was sentanced to death.
The Keniran family nearly met with the same fate, however, through the good works Karana had forged over the years, and her unquestionable loyalty, the family was spared from death. Their possessions were stripped from them, they were taken to the Old City, and fined 25 million stenis. Once their debt was repaid, they would be stripped of their name, and given a new one -- Karanik, as a testament to the new matriarch's accomplishments.
Hakana, Karana's mother in law, found the children of Clan Leader Amenik, and was awarded a house to be built, and 30 million stenis. Their fine repaid, and a new home for them under construction, the Karanik family now simply seeks to rebuild their lives, under Karana's leadership. Never again will Karana turn a blind eye to her family. She has vowed to become active and to heal her family from within.
Miscellany
Personality
She's very sensative to others, and will go out of her way to make them feel comfortable around her. A seemingly natural diplomat, she knows how to get people to relax. She also is a natural chameleon, needing no deception to become what is most needed from her. She can laugh with the rowdiest, and cry with the most sensative. The real Karana.. she isn't even sure there is one, she seems a blend of everyone around her. She does know she loves her husband and is quite sure without his quiet understanding, she would soon go mad trying to be everything for everyone.
