Overview
Lady Kassia Iberik was, for a time, Head of House of the Iberik Family. It set some tongues wagging that a born Hydra was appointed to the task, but Kassia was determined to shut them all up and lead the family back to its former glories. Following her husband Nivik's death at the front she is presently single and focused on the tasks of Head of House and Minister of Families for the Eagle clan, as well as raising her sons Katavian and Nino, the latter being her adopted son now that he lost both natural parents, Nivik and his first wife. She is now a Cockatrice and Marsalos is the head of house.
Early History
Kassia was born Kassia N'Gato of the Hydra Clan, daughter of Lord Katarus and Lady Osiana and grew up in a large family. She was closest to her sister Katriana who married Prince Argin and became Princess Katriana Elianik in the process. She hid with Katriana at the palace for a long time, when she tried to dodge the unwanted marriage to horrible Talion Iberik of the Eagle Clan, but eventually had no choice but to get married to him after all and move to the Iberik Mansion and become an Eagle.
Recent History
Following Talion's death, she was palmed off to another Iberik, this time Lord Nivik, but it was hardly a more successful match. At least Nivik gave her a child, a much wanted son, she named Katavian to fulfil her promise to her dying father Katarus, that she'd name her first-born son after him. Nivik upset the entire Eagle clan and escaped execution as a traitor by at least meeting a honorable end on the battlefields of Ellish, so his sons can grow up thinking their father was a hero.
During the Democracy upheavals in the Eagle District, Kassia was captured and held prisoner together with a few others for several weeks in a dark dingy hole. Eventually her captors poked one of her eyes out as punishment for something Nivik did - she never found out exactly what, but it filled her with such a loathing for her husband that she never spoke to him again. Once she was freed from captivity, she went to live with her sister Rasha Didoron first to recover and have her baby, then stayed at the Royal Eagle Mansion for some time where she became close to Clan Leader Ania, while the Iberik Mansion, that was badly damaged in a fire during the democratic riots, was being refurbished. The loss of her eye and the long captivity have filled Kassia with a loathing for all things democracy but have also softened her up somewhat towards commoners, since her fellow prisoners, such as Priestess Kodiachi provided her with much needed comfort and solace.
Personality & Beliefs
Kassia is a fierce monotheistic worshipper of Zutiv and does not hesitate to tell anyone who does not share this belief that they are absolutely wrong and filthy pagans on top. This has often led to arguments even within her family. But Kassia is convinced that eventually they will all see the light. But while she is very fierce on religious matters, she is quite open to all sorts of bizarre savages such as Ticanee, Bonduin and Haffies, even employing them when she deems them somewhat useful. As long as they know their position in life. Such as far below Firan horses and dogs.
Kassia enjoys meddling in other people affairs, claiming that this is her job as Minister of Families. Her favorite target are presently her nieces Belica and Arissa whom she needs to see safely installed with their own families, even when they are no Eagles. But Kassia honestly thinks she is only helping people and has no malicious intents.
Being an Eagle has enabled her to live her mischievous exuberant side a bit more and some people think she has really "arrived" in the clan. If only they'd ditch their pagan polytheistic beliefs!
