Official Statement
My name is Katriana Vettle, slave of Forlanis, and I strive to be worthy. I did hate that bitch, Throgana. And I didn't much care for Governor Hralib as a master either, but he sold me away to Forlanis and now I'm much happier. So why would I kill him? But everyone remembers the way Governor Hralib humiliated "princess" Teonia, making her be mated in public, and forcing her to have a bastard child born of that humiliation. If anyone would want to kill him, it'd be her.
Background
When Katriana was captured, her children were very sick, and Hralib thought they should be sacrificed instead of infecting everyone else with their germs. Katriana went to Throgana for help and entrusted her with the children, but Throgana turned them over to Hralib.
Throgana persuaded Hralib to sacrifice Katriana's sickly children, and nurse their bastards instead.
Katriana has never gotten over it.
Relationships
- Forlanis -- Katriana's Master.
- Nobifa -- Forlanis' sister.
- Puria -- Forlanis' brothel slave, and Katriana's cousin by marriage. She's not earning enough for her master's coffers. Nevertheless, she's a close friend.

- Secretly undermine Forlanis so that Tatomir doesn't make him a priest.
- Cast guilt onto Nobifa to keep Forlanis distracted from your efforts to undermine him.

Round One Reveal
Katriana knows that on her last trading run, Caree said that Hralib was a cheap bastard when he refused to pay her full price for a slave she delivered to him.
In the aftermath of losing Anarinuell to the goats, Ojitar instituted reforms that enlisted even Gold Dragon women into the military, and taught his own wife and sisters how to kill. It wouldn't surprise Katriana if his sister Emma was a killer.
It's always the slaves who are new that fight the hardest, and Ojitar's sister Tazira hasn't even been auctioned off yet. She is feisty and would want to kill her oppressors like Hralib.
Ladonna wrote a wickedly satirical song about Hralib that flayed him up one side and down the other.
Everyone knows that because Caree works with the Shamibelians as a slaver, she has pretty much free access to anything in Anarinuell and could have gone to Hralib and killed him without anyone thinking it amiss.
Hralib felt as if Ladonna had an unaturally strong attachment to her son, Saelus, and that she'd make a better slave if the boy were sold off to someone else. So, he suggested to Lainath that he sell the boy to Forlanis. Ladonna has always hated Hralib for it.
Katriana's master, Forlanis, won the prestigious 'stinging fly' medal of honor for bravery on the battlefield. He's very proud of it, and Katriana thinks that everyone should know she belongs to a very strong and heroic warrior.

Katriana was thrilled to be sold to Forlanis, and eager to get away from Hralib and Throgana, whom she hated.
Forlanis has been training Katriana as an assassin.
Katriana carries a concealed knife on her thigh.
Katriana has never stopped grieving for the sons she lost, that Hralib killed because they were sick. Once Forlanis bought Saelus, and made Katriana take care of him, she got it in her mind that the boy was really her son after all. She tells Saelus that she is his mother, and that Ladonna is a crazy person whom he must stay away from.

Round Two Reveal
Fissia makes earrings in her spare time, to supplement the meager income her husband Hashi's slaves bring home and support her lands. Weren't some earrings found on Hralib's dead body?
Katriana once saw Perdita literally talking to Hralib's Skull-of-Taria cup. It's not like she's got all her marbles, so it's not a far leap to decide Perdita is capable of murder.
Katriana knows that on the Night of Obala's Pride, Inaya talked about a great sacrifice she was going to make to Obala. Might that have been Hralib's finger?
Torianos refused to give up his faith in the Firan pantheon, and preached that Hralib should be struck down for desecrating the Temple District by converting the temples into a complex of mansions for his wife Pevifa.
Torianos likes to refer to his "panther tribe" heritage, and there was a scratch on Hralib's body. Might it have been Torianos' murderous calling card, to scratch his victim before leaving him to freeze to death?
Torianos has been secretly burning the bodies of human sacrifices to Obala with proper funeral rites. What if Hralib came upon him burning bodies, and they struggled. Perhaps Torianos knocked him into the fire and killed him--that would explain the ashes, and the burn marks on Hralib's body.
Everyone knows that Father Brizo is the one who "found" Throgana's body. Kind of convenient isn't it?
Everyone knows that Brizo has been working in slavery as a brewer. Hralib preferred his vintage, and bought several bottles of wine from him the Night of Obala's pride.
Even though Emma is a Gold Dragon, she actually fought on the walls of Anarinuell, disguised as a boy in armor against her father's orders, and against her clan leader's orders. Emma feels like she fought so poorly that day, that it contributed to the Fall of Anarinuell, so she doesn't want anyone to know. What if she tried to make up for her failures by killing Hralib?
Round Two Conceal
It's Forlanis's fondest hope to become a priest, but he has competition. Namely, Scithvor. The two men are bitter rivals, and Forlanis wants Scithvor out of the way.
On the Night of Obala's pride, Katriana was supposed to kill Scithvor.
Katriana doesn't want Forlanis to become a priest, because when he does, she'll be sold again.
Katriana was afraid that Hralib was going to try to buy her back. She'd have killed him before she let that happen.
When the Shamibelians overran Anarinuell, Puria tried to hide her sons in a rug, all rolled up. When she realized it was hopeless, she smothered them to death rather than let them become slaves. Look at the way Hralib died? It was as if someone was trying to send a message, the way he was rolled up in that rug.

- Keep Saelus with you, forever, in bondage together, as a mother and a child can never be separated!
- Make sure that if Forlanis does end up becoming a priest, and you get sold to another master, that the other master is willing to buy Saelus too.

Katriana heard Aldrin, Akiva and Torianos theorizing that using a firebomb on the palace could burn all the bodies at once, which would allow them to give proper funeral rites.
Katriana saw Aldrin slip away from the Night of Obala's Pride, and he looked like he was following Hralib.
Katriana knows that Aldrin has recently come into a great deal of money.

Katriana was supposed to kill Scithvor, but the order from her master never came. She waited around all night, but he never told her to do it.
