Overview

With wide, curious eyes, this slightly rotund woman has trouble maintaining eye contact if attention is drawn to her. She blushes easily, shaking her head and hiding under her hands when compliments are paid to her, but she always does it with a smile. Despite the evident shyness, when she talks, she emphasizes her points with animated gesticulation. This woman has a very kind face and a nice word for everyone. Oddly enough, she seems perpetually uncomfortable in shoes of any kind. Her toes wiggle, her ankles roll, and she discards them at first opportunity.

Optimistic and often confused with being flighty, Kieri simply walks to the beat of a different drummer. She's known to be dramatic and she is a great story teller, often sharing amusing antecdotes from her own personal life, usually with self-deprecating humor. And though she generally eschews direct conflict, preferring instead to bait others in a gentle playful way, she has been known to have the occasional emotional outburst. One quirky thing about Kieri is that she hates to wear shoes. She knows she's supposed to, and so she has some for formal occasions, but she's always taking them off and losing them wherever she goes. As Kieri has aged, Kieri has become increasingly motherly toward those younger than her. She mothers a young person until he or she needs no more guidance from Kieri, and then she releases said youngin' and moves on to another.

Death

Kieri died in Ellish after the battle to reclaim it. The vivacious Kieri Harror, a priestess of Unot and healer, was killed while tending the wounded in Ellish. During the last battles of the Liberation, the encampment was raided by Shamibelians and firebombs were dropped on the tents out in the open field. Kieri was burned very badly. At first it seemed like she might live, though the scars were horrible and she wept when she saw a mirror. But then she kept losing weight, became listless, and eventually succumbed to the horrible pain of her burns. She was delirious at the end, telling stories of her life.

"Shhh," she said. "This one you can't tell. My older brother, Solan, he once was having this party for the nobles. And while all the royals were downstairs, Lord Taleo Teranzik snuck up to my bedroom. You have to understand that in his day, there was no man quite so dark and alluring. I kept saying no, but somehow... it kept coming out like yes. But before he could take his noble privilege upon me, my brother Solan and some of his friends realized that there was a man up in my bedroom and there was shouting and my brother swore he'd kill the man in my room. And do you know what Taleo Teranzik did? Oh, he's a Viceroy now, and he just does whatever he wants. But back then, he jumped out my window onto this black horse of his, and rode away like a thief in the night. Imagine it. Taleo Teranzik afraid of Solan Harror... I had a fun life, I did...didn't I?"

She leaves behind her brother, sister-in-law, a nephew, and a distant cousin.

Family Life

Parents

  • Depiniani(d) Kieri's mother died in childbirth when Kieri was a small girl. She barely remembers her. Not having a mother around shaped Kieri's interactions with women for a very long time and now that she is older, Kieri tends to mother younger women and girls. Never stifling, but certainly kindly, Kieri is there until she is no longer needed and then shifts her attentions to another younger person. (think Mary Poppins-esque; she's there when she needs to be and then moves on when it's time)
  • Seilic(d) Kieri always showed respect to her father, and somewhat feared him. He was imposing, not unlike Solan, and commanded that the villa run a specific way, always his way. When he died, Kieri guiltily felt relieved. She was tired of being sheltered and protected by both him AND Solan -- but she certainly misses him. He was, after all, her father. And he knew such stories... Kieri regrets not getting him to share more than he did.

Siblings

Kieri's older brother is really old enough to be her father. And sometimes he acts like it. Still, Kieri thinks that he's too cynical and it's up to her to bring a breath of fresh optimistic air into his life. He has been married twice now, the first time to Malvina and the second to Ladonna. While he was with Malvina, there was much yelling, much drama... much anger. But lately, he's seemed... ridiculously pleased. His son, Saelus, is the object of so much attention; he wanted that child so very much. When he has the boy, it's all laughter and smiles, and when Ladonna is acting warmly, it's much the same thing. But with the baby isn't around and when Ladonna isn't being charming, Solan can be very cold. Kieri tries to lighten the mood of the house, brighten everyone's day, and get Solan to relax. She'll tell stories about anything and prattle on and on, as she does.

Marriage

Kieri has not married.

Accomplishments

  • Kieri was one of the dead in the battles to take Ellish.
  • Joining the Priesthood

Scandals

  • Sadera

Sadera was once a Harror, reportedly a cousin of Kieri's. And a slaver. The entire family was declared innocent, Sadera was cast out, and the Harrors just tried to forget about her. The Clan Council deemed her guilty and the Religious Council soul deathed her.

  • Kieri's Parting Words

Delirious or in earnest? Those with Kieri say she was telling wild stories for days, but one about the viceroy leaping out of her window to escape her brother made the rounds of the camps.
