LARP 2008
From FiranMUX

Setting
Firan Occupied Ellish. It is one thing to war and win a city, quite another to hold it. The year is 45 A.U. The Shamibelians have been driven back, at least temporarily, from the city of Ellish, and now the Firans have a rather enormous political problem on their hands.
The city of Ellish is filled with liberated slaves. Some of them are glad to be free. Some of them are resentful traitors who act like prisoners of war. Vretian and Bonduin slaves are just as numerous as Firan and Ticanee, and the effort to assimilate them into the Republic is a challenge unlike any the Firans have faced before.
Additionally, the city of Ellish has become a political prize of enormous import. The Griffon Clan still claims the city as their own, but the Gold Dragons now say it's theirs, and the Republic royalty make an argument that for all the blood spilled capturing it, it should rightly be a Republic territory like the Caldera City, Anarinuell or half of Scirlut.
The City of Ellish poses opportunities as much as it does hazards. Vast tracks of unclaimed land now lay open to be settled by heroes of wars, noble families, and enterprising aspirants of all varieties. It remains a hazardous place, with Shamibelians raiding almost nightly to vent their rage at having lost, and so only the bravest go to Ellish to find their fortune, settle and reclaim the city.
War Memorials need to be built. Defenses need to be manned. Law and Order must be restored. Governmental disputes must be resolved. Commerce must be restored. Culture must be reforged. Religion must be brought to bear. Will you be up to the challenge?
Scenario
Various notables have arrived from out of town to celebrate Liberation Day 45 A.U. Last night, Governor Judanus Corinala threw a masquerade ball to welcome the VIPs to Ellish. He commandeered the old Vettle Estate to serve both as Command Headquarters and Party Central, so a good time was had by all. Today the Firans will celebrate their triumph in Ellish by holding a public feast, marching in a victory parade, and consecrating the city by destroying the Tower of Obala. All citizens are welcome to the celebration on this historic day.
Character Sheets
This year, every LARP participant will be drafting their own character sheet.
When a player gets their character sheet back on the day of the LARP, it will contain surprises--it may change quite a bit from what the player submitted, in fact. But it will be used as the starting point so that everyone can be prepared and practiced for the LARP. Each sheet will also have an ideas section for other characters in the LARP and it is a required segment to be filled in.
- Please consult the LARP 2008 Cast List to pick a character to flesh out.
- When you're writing your character, pay special attention to relationships that your character might or could have to others on the cast list. They're not worth having if they aren't hate, love, need or fear. Ie. What does your relationship to this person make your character _do_.
- The form you'll use is here: Image:Character Sheet Template.rtf
- Once filled out, your character sheet should be emailed to steph at legendary dot org with the subject line: FiranCon Character Sheet

- Most people in Ellish have lived there for years, possibly their whole lives, and may not like or want to join what the Firan culture has become in the meantime. They may want to keep their individuality, whereas the Republic would want them integrated. --Jon
- Etiquette teachers are called to Ellish! Nobles are renobled but only if they pass rigorous training!? Oooooooh. --KeliRie 16:22, 14 March 2008 (EDT)
- Find the Missing Medallion! Where is Her Honor Ania's missing Eagle Clan Medallion? The hunt is on.--Headworms 16:29, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Back from the Dead?! It's well known that some Shamibelian Priests have the power to resurrect the dead. What happens when a Firan tries to use this power to bring back a recently killed loved one in the Ellish conflict?--Headworms 16:32, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Curse of the Panther! When a Firan finds the only known shard from the recently exploded and mysterious totem pole used by the Shamibelians, it infused in them super-human powers. But when they start acting more and more like a cat... will the curse be worth the power they have meow? I mean now.--Headworms 16:52, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- The Prophecy. The mysterious Gods of the Bonduin have been giving their people images of a 'chosen one', someone from the Firan forces that will lead them to safety and security. When word spreads that the prophecy is true, they flock to this figure in their dreams to lead them. Unfortunately the great messiah, in some cosmic joke, is anything but qualified for such a task, much to the dismay of the Firans.--Headworms 19:25, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Warlord's Riches. While interrogating a Shamibelian soldier three members of three different middle class families learn of a cache of untold riches hidden in a certain area of the city. It's the sort of wealth that could buy a noble title for the family of whoever can find it and get the loot into the hands of their Clan Leader. Disliking each other anyway, the race is on to see which of the three can win this prize! At all costs.--Headworms 19:35, 17 March 2008 (EDT)
- Spy Vs Spy. A Griffon and a Gold Dragon have each been given the task by their leadership to sabotage the other in Ellish. With each packing an arsenal of clues to plant, linking the other to treasonous acts and Shamibelian plots, they must destroy their rival without getting caught.--Headworms 11:04, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
- Symbol of Rebellion. When the Shami General, that slayed Lord First General Donos in a duel, was captured- his spear was lost in the chaos of the battle. Now the weapon is taking on a legend of it's own amoung the pro-Shami faction in Ellish, believing that with the item in their hands it will motivate many other slaves to fight against the Firan invaders. Will they find this symbol of Shamibelian victory? Or can the Firans find it first to avoid an escalation of rebellion.--Headworms 11:42, 24 March 2008 (EDT)
- Is it supposd to do that: The Tower of Obala was one of the most hellish obstacles to overcome in taking the city, but with the priests driven off it stopped. Until now, when it mysteriously fires off at an important figure, killing them. Are the Shammibelians back and hiding in the tower, or did a Firan figure out how to use it to kill an enemy? --Mpark6288 17:26, 29 March 2008 (EDT)
- But...but your a Bear: The Drikkists in the city are in shambles after their whole priesthood has been pretty much run off. But they will not be deterred, and pick their new High Priest(ess). Only problem is the person doesn't volunteer, and may have different religious beliefs entirely. His Honor Ojitar Firgalik...High Priest of Drik perhaps?--Mpark6288 15:47, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
- Fudathim is dead...long live Fudathim?: The Firans killed many notable Shammibelians on the way to the city; warlords and old enemies, but the greatest was Fudathim, killed by Zafir. His body burned...or was it. The body of Fudathim mysteriously appears in the center of Ellish, with different wounds than he died from. What happened, how did he get there...and did someone else kill him again? --Mpark6288 15:47, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
- Not the Droids We're Looking For: There are many notable Firans lost in Ellish. Among them are Throgana Keniwik and Bashona Istabannos. Two factions go after one of these women: One to save them and bring them back, the other to kill them to keep a dire secret hidden. Characters work for the two factions and must rescue or kill their girl for their futures to be safe.--Mpark6288 15:50, 30 March 2008 (EDT)
- Poison Pen Letters: Someone has been sending anonymous scrolls to various people in Ellish accusing them of bad things. Examples could be a noblewoman accused of adultery, a high ranking ex-slave of being a Shammie spy, a person adopting an Ellish orphan from secretly adopting the twin of another child, etc. Most accusations are false, but plausible, a few are true... but is it just a lucky guess or does the blackmailer know things others don't? There's no blackmail, but it makes people nervous. After all, reputation matters to Firans. Who is the person behind this campaign and how would each character react when they get such a letter? Some before, some during the larp. Do they destroy the letters, share the problems with others, or try and find out who else got such a letter so they can use it against an enemy? -- Ytsken 06:54, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
- Not-Firan Halfies: The Shamibelians are well-known for keeping slaves and raping them, and also having not only Firan slaves, but Bonduin and Vreland slaves as well. How do the Firans react when they find children who are half-Shamibelian and half-Bonduin or half-Vrelander. Will xenophobia rule, or will it be more important to defeat the full-blooded Shamies? -- Rognik 08:40, 31 March 2008 (EDT)
