Lapis Family

The Lapis family is a middle class Griffon family that has an old and well-established line. The Lapis family was an offshoot of the noble Sennet family. One of their ancient ancestors was a bastard child of one of the Sennet Lords, and much favored of him. Thus, even though the Lapis' could not be acknowleged as rightful heirs, they were traditionally given roles of responsibility and trust within both the Sennet household and the government of Firalut before it was burned to the ground.

Since the war, when all of the noble Sennet's were killed, the Lapis family has distanced themselves from the noble house of Sennet. Especially since they consider all the present occupants to be pretenders. The Sennet noble line is dead, according to the Lapis family, and those who make claim to the name now probably have less right to it than they do! Thus, there has been a rather tense relationship between the two families as of late.

Mes Bringana is great friends with another established matriarch, Derganiva Jaffus, and the two of them have often schemed to have their children marry one another. Norah did marry into the Jaffus family, as well as her younger sister Chloe. However, things didn't work out very well with Chloe, and she divorced Philander Jaffus, and came back home to live. Chloe later married back into the Cockatrice clan by wedding Sir Achillus Opuntus. Kamunikos married a freed Shamibelian slave, Zarina, who had come to live with Bringana, and they had four children: Stefan, Flaminia, Olero and Monti. Bringana and Ornus' other daughter has yet to marry, though as Justina became Madame of the Dove, and then mysteriously disappeared, it is unlikely she ever will. Zakaro married Adamanthaea and together, they have four children: Nirus, Akari, Thaeo, and Virados.

Bringana's son, Entoro, has been the most colourful and provocative member of the Lapis family, earning nobility by winning a pentathlon in 24 A.U. and being appointed Griffon Regent temporarily before Lady Nalia was chosen by the Clan Council in 27 A.U. It was just shortly thereafter that things seemed to go wrong for Entoro and his wife Jinny. Just after that war season, Entoro was demoted to Centurion for insubordination, and then later, in 28 A.U., was stripped of his title, and forced to divorce his wife for insulting and spreading slander about Lady Proxy Fidelia Ista Aldrik and Lord Viceroy Taleo Teranzik. Jinny was allowed to keep her title, but then lost it a few years later when it was discovered that she was pregnant out of wedlock. Lady Regent Nalia not only stripped her of title, but also of her children: Ettore, Imoen, and Solaria, so that they would not grow up living under the shame of their mother. The children were placed in the care of the Vasen-Darkas family, to be raised there, as per Nalia's judgment. They were adopted by Lady Carana and her husband, Lord Srennik and became Sennets when the Vasen-Darkas family was absorbed. Jinny and Entoro were married quietly again after this, and now have a daughter, Athenia, and a son, Galileo, to raise together.

The next generation of Lapises seem to be faring a little better. There are no major scandals, and indeed, they seem to be doing their best to repair the family reputation, if a bit quietly. Stefan became a war hero of sorts in 30 A.U. after his bravery saved countless lives on the battlefield. He married Neesha Istariniad who ventured out and lead one of the teams sent out to reunite the Chimera, and then became High Priestess of the Temple of Uf shortly after their marriage. They have two children, Elysian and Anine. Olero married Maja, and they have one daughter, Corarosa.
