Overview

Early History

It is no secret that Laurelia was once neither a Bear Clan child or an Ista Aldrik. In fact she was born a Didoron and a Cockatrice! Laurelia has vague memories at best of this time, as when she was about five years old it was ruled that she should become an Ista Aldrik as her mother had wished. From then on she has taken to the task of becoming a proper woman of her Clan's Royal Family.

Recent History

Laurelia has grown up in the Ista Aldrik household as all must, striving to keep to the examples her Aunt Fidelia and the other Ista Aldrik women set for her. It has not always been easy as she is an energetic person and being composed... is not an energetic thing. Being made a member of the Bear Clan Small Court was a big point in Laurelia's life with yet more to come. For in the next couple of years she was betrothed to a Gold Dragon man and eventually married, thankfully he became a Bear and not she a Gold Dragon. During the war campaign of 42 A.U. Laurelia was made the Bear Clan Second Proxy, a position she had always expected to come to her... just not as soon as it did. For all of her surprise she seems to have taken well to it, no initial scandals right off.

Personality & Beliefs

Lady Laurelia Ista Aldrik takes everything very seriously. Almost comically so. She tries very hard to be a lady, with her hairpins straight and always saying exactly the right thing. Her problem is she has entirely too much energy, and always finds herself tapping her feet in the middle of some solemn ceremony, or running through the cubicula without thinking about it, unfortunately often when someone is resting, and she finds every unconscious breach of etiquette mortifying. She has a protective maternal streak, and is often found alternately fussing over and lecturing her younger cousins, particularly Aldrin, because, as her Aunt Fidelia says, "Boys are useless." Early she learned about the manipulative power of a pout, the inherent evil of Gold Dragons, and how to perfect an icy facade. She watches the other Ista Aldriks, particularly her aunt, closely to clues as to how to behave and copies them as best she can. The earnestness with which she throws herself into everything masks a secret fear. They killed her mother, after all. If she doesn't do everything just right, perhaps they'll kill her, too.

A very devout Solian, she spends a good deal of her time in prayer at the Temple. Some say that recently she as been speaking with the Priestesses there about possibly becoming an initiate sometime in the future. Some might wonder what her husband thinks of this, but most likely realize she is an Ista Aldrik and he did after all join the Bear Clan.

Family Life

Parents

Lady Junia Didoron: Laurelia's mother and a person that even today the young Ista Aldrik has conflicted feelings for. Few are the memories of her mother, just blue eyes and a commanding presence. There are the public stories, the ones of all the things that Junia did that were wrong. Losing wars, executed by the Clan Council... all things that were bad. She has stories from her Aunt Fidelia though that her mother was a kind person, wise and knew how to care for people. As at odds with the other stories as anything can be. Laurelia is left with the only explanation given to her... her mother fell ill and never recovered properly. (news Junia)

Lord Pertinax Didoron: Laurelia has even fewer memories of her father than she has of her mother. She knows her father was a Cockatrice Didoron, who claimed her mother with the festival marriage prize (Aunt Fidelia's disapproval for this course of action is noticeable indeed), and after her mother lost the Bear clan medallion, they both went to the Didoron family. People say her mother poisoned him. It's just one more question for Laurelia's long list of them. (news Pertinax)

Siblings

Lady Yvette Didoron: Yvette is Laurelia's sister -- sort of. Yvette was apparently sired by Laurelia's father on Aunt Aldrissa while Aldrissa was a whore, and Junia made a decree to adopt Yvette in the event of Junia's death, which was revealed after her execution. Laurelia doesn't see Yvette much any more -- not since Laurelia came to live with the Ista Aldriks (or was kidnapped by Aunt Fidelia, which is sort of how it came about, but Laurelia can't imagine living anywhere but with the Ista Aldriks!). She misses her and is friendly with her, but there remains a distance in their relationship. Laurelia cannot quite forget the scandalous nature of Yvette's birth.

Spouse

Lord Tyrsun Firgalik: They were married July 21st in 42 A.U. both doing duty to their Clan and families. He is still a manly man, one she is not quite sure of at times. Though she assumes that his rough edges can be worn down given the right circumstances. So far they have gotten along well enough, though Laurelia is sure at some point they will have disagreements.

Children

None as of yet, though she enjoys children and as any proper Bear woman plans on having many.
