Overview
Lester Mink was born on 16 July, 11 A.U. in Anarinuell, the eldest son of Terpsika and Zilester (whose marriage lasted all but one day). A reclusive hunter who spends most of the time alone in the forests, he isn't often seen around the city. Finding happiness in his second marriage to Sarina has drawn him out among people a little more and he has resumed his active duty as a guard in the First.
Family Life
Siblings
- Abayos: Terpsika's second child Abayos has turned Lester's ex-wife Tagda into his sister-in-law. Lester doesn't see his brother often, but when he does they get along well enough. Deep inside he's grateful that Abayos has taken care of Tagda.
- Aervis: Terpsika's third son is the one Lester feels closest to and he spends quite some with his younger brother and his wife Brinalia and their cubs. When Lester can be bothered to emerge from the forests that is.
- Zaynee: Lester's tried to help his little sister through her marriage woes, but they've become a bit distanced.
- Emani: The girl formerly known as Emani changed her name to Decoria after her Ceremony and chose the one occupation Lester finds entirely unacceptable. Though after years of silence, he finally mended fences with Decoria; especially when she supported him throughout his troublesome divorce proceedings. More recently Lester adopted Decoria's child Maimiti.
Marriage
Years ago, when he was still young and free (or considered himself so) Lester was talked into marrying Tagda, who had been dallying with his brother Abayos but not allowed to marry him. When Tagda found herself pregnant and needed a husband urgently, Lester agreed to save her reputation by marrying her. Unfortunately, he found was never truly happy, thanks in large part to what he viewed as Tagda's frequent infidelities. During their five years of marriage, three children were born but Lester has accepted only one - Analenia - as his own child, even though deep in his heart he knew that she probably wasn't his either. Still, as hard as he found it to bear when none of his children were his own, noble privilege is a fact of life for many commoner families. But in the end something went wrong, and Lester and Tagda went through a divorce. Though the official reason was Tagda claiming that Lester was 'unsatisfactory in bed,' the rumor around the Ticanee camps was that Lester had learned his wife was sleeping with other commoners, and become incensed. Regardless of the truth, the two were soon separated.
He enjoyed his new-found freedom for some time, but finally realized that he missed the warmth of the marriage bed and began to send anonymous gifts to Sarina Whitefeather, a young woman who he had an eye on, impressed by the calm seriousness with which she pursued her military career and temple duties. He was not aware that Sarina was in need of a husband following a noble's privilege and briefly taken aback when he found out, fearing that he would end up with another Tagda. But Sarina promised him that she would always do her best to ensure Lester had children of his own blood, a promise fulfilled with the birth of their son Lestat -- a boy who looks too much like his father to be anyone else's. In turn, Lester promised his new wife to not interfere with her military career by bogging her down with too many pregnancies, which was her own great fear of marriage.
Children
- Analenia:The only child born during Tagda's and Lester's marriage which he considers his own, Lester loves Annie dearly and wishes he could spend more time with her. He believes that Tagda has set her up against him and more importantly against his new wife Sarina and their children and he hopes that Annie will some day learn his side of the story too.
- Valeria: Sarina's first-born child is not Lester's true daughter, but he loves her as if she were. She's a very intelligent, curious child and he loves watching her making her progress through life, something that is now denied to him with Annie.
- Lestat: Lester's true son, he cannot deny that the little boy has a special place in his heart and Lester will do all he can sure to ensure his son of a great future.
- Maimiti: Adopted by Lester and Sarina, Maimiti's parentage is only half known to them, but he is fond of the baby nonetheless. Maimiti is big for her age and will no doubt grow into a strong girl.
- Vasu: An 11-year old orphan boy Lester and Sarina picked up and took home. Lester isn't really sure about taking in a kid that age, but Sarina, who herself was adopted as a child, wouldn't take no for an answer, so Lester tries his best to make friends with the boy and take him out hunting.
Lester's Career
After an uneventful childhood that seemed to be punctuated by the arrival of various younger siblings with varied fathers, Lester's own life was turned upside down by the tumultous unhappy marriage to Tagda Leafchaser. Having grown up to be a hunter and doing a tour of duty in the military, Lester decided to become a lawyer and for some time became Alexa Wolfhawke's legal assistant, but it was not a career his heart was set on. On Alexa's advice he joined the First for another tour of duty, but there's a part inside him that resents being bossed around by people half his age and dealing with snotty noble kids who know very well that he stands no chance against them. Enjoying marital bliss at last with Sarina Whitefeather and their offspring, he is usually found at home in the Ticanee district, hunting or minding the cubs while his wife pursues her military career and her duties in the Temple of Srenna.
