Dear Lady Rasha,
I'm sorry that I haven't written you a letter until now. It's not that I didn't want to, but I needed to find someone to write this down for me.
I received your package. The drawing of Emilios is tucked under my bedroll so I can get it out and look at it whenever I want. It's a real nice drawing. I hope he's doing well. I miss him like I can't even tell you.
We had a real bad battle where I thought I was going to die, thought we were all going to die, and all I could think of was how I never would see him again. But we got through. Don't even know how that happened, but we did.
We aren't supposed to talk too much about the battles so I had better not say anything else about that. Except for my Centurion and my Captain are both real good. They're the kind of people that if you have a problem, you can tell them about it and they don't think you're just bitching and whining and full of hot air. They take you seriously and they'll check out the problem and see if there's something they can do. So that's real good.
Anyway thank you for the care package. That was really nice of you. Is my husband still alive and all? He still hasn't written me a letter.
I did get a letter from Princess Katriana because she said you told her that I wasn't getting much mail. That was a hoot. I never got a letter from anybody royal before! That was pretty nice of her, so I have to find someone to write down a letter to her too and say thanks. She said some real nice things in her letter.
I learned how to shoot a bow. So I can do that now. Volleying is kinda fun. But when I get back home, I want to learn how to use my spear better so that I can be a hoplite. I'll be less likely to get killed then.
Alright, well, tell Emilios that I love him and I'll be back soon. Maybe I'll bring him a piece of the wall from Ellish. How about that, huh? I'll bring you one too if I can get it.
