Letter from Pyrrus

From FiranMUX

Dear son,

I have received your letter. As an officer of the courts and as your father, I will fulfill your wishes as dictated in your will should you die in battle.

I will make this short, for I know that you are busy. These past few days, I too have been through a swell of emotions. The thought of my own children going off to battle makes me feel duplicitious - on one hand, I surge with pride as a father and a patriot. On the other hand, I stand betwixt lamentation, jealousy, and sadness towards the fact that I myself cannot be with you and fight by your side. I have petitioned the Firan Military to offer me a position as an interrogation or an advocate, as law will need to be brought to Ellish if it is re-conquered.

Please do not mistake my coolness toward you as unkindness or hatred of anykind. Everything I do for my children, I do out of love, and I would gladly and fiercely rip the liver out of any man and eat it if he should dare to hurt one of my children. My stoicism towards your person comes from my own father, and how he raised me. In some way, I believe, deep down, that children should find there own way in life. And this I see you have accomplished for yourself. Not because of my rearing, but this is because of your own strength and will. I could never ask Mother Soli for greater children than the ones that your mother and I have been blessed with - nor could I have been given a better son than you.

Remember that nobility not comes only from the blood that flows through your veins, but the integrity of your words, the strength of your character, the loyalty to your family, gods, and country. But first of all, loyalty to your own heart. We may disagree on several things, but as long as you are true to these things, I cannot deny you.

I do not know if this letter will reach you. If you are reading this, know that I send you my thoughts, my prayers, and my respect. And either way you come home - either with your shield or on it, know that you give me honor to call you my son.

I remain,

The signature of Pyrrus.
