Lianna's Market Misadventure
From FiranMUX
[SYNOPSIS: Lianna Davocelli, a bright, bubbly servant employed by High General Ersin, has one weakness: one glass of wine will make her tipsy. Knowing this, Ersin usually keeps his supply under lock and key, but one day he gets careless and leaves a full bottle out before heading off for the day - with interesting results.]

Anarinuell: Civic-Center Square -- The Forum
Lianna skip-happies through, but it's rather obvious from the way she's leaning at an angle that she's been into General Ersin's private stock of wine again.
Lianna threads her way via bumps and stepped toes and cheerful apologies towards the food merchant, who takes one look at her and groans. Not again.
Lianna reaches the food booth but her body fails to stop when her feet do. Her hips hit the edge of the booth and she pitches forward, giving the hapless merchant a full view of the inside of her stola. Seemingly oblivious to his sudden red complexion, Lianna brightly asks, "Pies today?"
The merchant promptly lifts his jaw from where it rested on the counter, "I..er.." He stammers. "Yes! Yes yes, pies. Of course... For eating." He nods to himself and rubs his forehead. I'm a married Mer! I'm a married Mer! "Why, how many would you like?"
Lianna giggles, which causes her to fall forward more. She would have fallen front down into the cheese pies if she didn't brace herself hurriedly on her hands.. with one right in a pie. Still, she doesn't seem to notice. Nor does she notice that her neckline is now gaping a good few inches from her chest. "Oh, lots!" she says cheerfully. "The General's always hungry.. five?"
The merchant can't help but stare, "Me.. I'm.." He spins around abruptly, running a hand through his hair and another down his tunic to smooth out any wrinkles. The smell of wine is heavy on this one. He continues to look at the /back/ of the shop -- not towards Lianna, "Yes, five.. Including the one your hand is in?" He does a sort of nervous hop. He like breasts and all, but he was just married and wants to stay faithful for at least a /little/ while.
Lianna's cheerful grin fades into an owlish look at the merchant. "Hand?" she repeats. "What hand?"
Nazeera exits the baths huddled under her warm bear skin cloak. She leans against the pillars to watch the market from a dry spot.
The merchant turns around and grabs Lianna by the wrist while looking strictly at her eyes. Promise! "This one, Mes," he says, as he lifts up the cheesy, spinachy pie-encrusted hand to her nose. He tries desperately to keep his eyes up.
Lianna peers at her hand in confusion. "Why did you put cheese and spinach all over my hand?" she asks the food merchant querlously, then bursts into giggles. "Oh, me! A new fashion.. edible gloves!"
Nazeera watches the little scene with Lianna and the merchant. She doesn't seem to notice Leonus out there though.
The merchant gasps at the utter -lunacy- of this poor young mes. If only Priestess Fidelia were here, she'd put an end to this silliness. "I.. Welll... five? Yes." He lets go of her hand and chances a risky glance down her stola to which his eyes widen. He married the wrong gal! "I'll get them for you." He rushes over to the shelves where his apprentice placed recently cooked ones.
Lianna beams at the merchant as he turns away. Unfortunately for the poor man, as soon as her source of support is gone, she falls forward on her hand again.. splat into another pie. Which she of course doesn't notice, her hand already well covered with cheese. "Thank you, Mer!"
The merchant returns with five pies and with a nervous smiles says, "Here are your breasts, Mes." He hands the pies to her grimy hands, not catching his slip. "Please come again, it was a pleasure." More than words can say in fact.
Leonus pauses, unable to hold his attention off of the scene playing out between Lianna and the merchant. A smile comes to the young Teranzik's face in amusement. At the merchant's comment, Leonus raises his hand to his mouth not to make the chuckle apparent. Okay, so he found something worth his trip to the forum today.
Fiorenzia comes from the baths, pushing one last damp strand of hair behind her ears. Casting a quick glance over the forum, she begins to climb down the steps, shifting her palla over her shoulders.
Lianna sways slightly from her bent-over position, her face still beaming up at the merchant. "So wonderful, you are! Thank you, mer!" She straightens to gather up the pies, but all of a sudden the world tilts.. and she finds the ground slapping her backside. "OW!"
A quick look up as the woman falls and Leonus rushes over to her quickly, his hand extending as he arrives and his dark eyes scan her once for injuries. "Are you alright Mes, can I assist you?" he says in quick form.
The merchant runs around and from behind tries to help her up. Seeing that she is quite unhelpable he hooks his arms under her armpits and heaves up. He brings her to her knees and then looks down again. Good Zutiv! Soon Leonus begins to help, and asks if she's alright also, "Ahh, are you alright? Are you alright?" He wipes the sweat off of his brow and looks down again. "Oh my goodness!" he says, as the thoughts escape his lips. He steps a few steps back and assumes a cool-relaxed position, trying to ignore the fact that he's just seen more than he was allowed.
Lianna's laughing face turns to Leonus as she leans back on her hands, still sitting. Or tries to.. the cheese on her hands slowly begins to lead her downwards as they slide upon the cobblestones. "Oh yes, I'm quite all right, thank you," she says cheerfully, before she abruptly finds herself on her knees, thanks to the merchant. "... I think?"
The merchant is still a couple feet away, appearing quite unconcerned and unattached, but is secretly hoping for another glance. He nods in a chummy way towards Leonus, "A Noble thing to do, M'Lord." He then saunters quietly over to Lianna, "Mes, do you need some.." he forgets the words as he sees those /things/ again. "Hello."
The young Teranzik lord offers both green gloved hands to her, but he cannot help but smile brightly at how good humoredly she takes her run of luck. He doesn't even think about lifting until he is certain she is ready to stand and he won't end up dropping her back down. "Easy does it Mes?" He says in a questioning style. Then the Leonus gives a polite nod to the merchant in thanks for the kind words. "Ready?"
Lianna giggles and lifts her arms to Leonus. "Yes, of course," she says, still not noticing her new "gloves". "I'm fine, thank you!" The merchant goes back behind the counter to wait for money.
Leonus does notice the pied hands, but that is what the laundry staff is for. His dark eyes lock to her eyes curiously a moment. "That is good Mes. I am sorry, I do not believe I caught your name?"
Taleo enters the forum from the bath house.
Lianna beams happily at Leonus, a lock of light brown hair falling over one eye. "Oh, me. Forgive my manners, please," she laughs. "I am Lianna Davocelli." Unfortuanatly for her, her position on her knees isn't the best for wine-induced balance and she begins to tilt forward to the ground, bright eyes still on Leonus.
Sabinus has arrived.
The Teranzik High Seat exits the bath house, taking those few first steps down and overlooking the forum. Taleo's dark gaze seems rather attentive, and he straightens his cloth before moving forward through the crowds.
Lianna is on her knees in front of Leonus, beaming cheerfully up at him, but from the angle of her body she's about to kiss the earth.
Leonus says "Davocelli?" Leonus repeats as tries to lean her back to a better sitting postion and not concentrate over much on the current one. Once he thinks he has her stable a second, he wipes the cheese and spinach on his military skirt and moves to lift her from behind under the arms. "Okay, easy goes and we are going to stand on three?" he offers, waiting for a reply, "I know where you live, I will help you there."
Lianna looks surprised to feel Leonus' arms slip under hers, then she giggles. "You are quite the gentleman, milord!" she laughs as she somehow manages to rise to her feet without toppling over. "General Ersin would be pleased!"
Sabinus walks into the Forum, making guard rounds. It seems like a normal enough day, nothing unusual. Just a crowd in the Forum, as usual, a young girl kneeling in front of Leonus Teranzik, people shopping... wait a minute, a young girl doing /what/? The young Captain of the guard pauses, turning to watch and try to assess the situation for a few minutes.
Taleo continues to navigate through the forum, having not seen his son yet, or much else. He did notice a girl in red that walked by, though otherwise remains oblivious.
Nazeera continues to hold up a column of the great bath house. Watching Lianna she has seen all that goes on and smirks. Leonus finally in her line of sight, she lets him continue to -deal- with Lianna.
Once the young Centurion gets the woman to a standing postion he slides around and wraps her arm over his neck. "General Ersin?" he says, seeming to be at a loss for much more than repeating words at the moment. The one thing Leo does know though is how to deal with a drunken person, Taleo and Tergus gave him plenty of practice. "Okay, if you are ready, I will take you to your home?" he says in a thoughtful voice and repeats "Home." Often best to stick with the familiar when dealing with a state such as hers.
Lianna crinkles up her nose at Leonus' words. "Home?" she protests. "But I must finish my shopping first! Oh, me... where are my pies?" She sways towards the food merchant, her stola dangerously gaping again.
The merchant catches his mouth, again.
Sabinus does his best /not/ to look as the girl's stola gapes open. Be a man, Sabinus! Then again, the young lord reflects as his eyes are drawn back that way against his will, it's being a man that's precisely the problem. Clearing his throat slightly, he watches the merchants. Have to keep an eye out for thieves and pickpockets, after all! Or the birds in the Forum. Everywhere except one particular spot.
Either for the moment not noticing or simply being used to the even more revealing outfits of the Dove, Leonus takes no noticable attention of the young woman's stola condition. "Okay, turning towards me," he says as he helps her around and away from the spinach and cheese mess on the ground. "I will make certain the pies are sent to you, Mes." His voice a medium and slow spoken tone to let it filter past the wine she has imbided. "Don't worry.. Just easy does it."
Lianna smiles brightly as she turns towards Leonus. Unfortunately for him - or perhaps fortunately, from his point of view - she falls forward again, her impressive chest landing against Leonus'. "I'm fine, really. Where shall we go?" Forgetting all about pies...
Nazeera shakes her head and chuckles a bit. Well she hangs in the bath house and knows what women without stolas look like after all! Nothing new or interesting for her. Though there are a few that may think otherwise in her case. Bending her neck to crack it a few times she hums a little tune to herself that sounds rather like some raunchy sailor song.
Sabinus finds his attention drawn back to Leonus and Lianna by that same instinct that makes someone stop and gape at a horrible accident. While he shakes his head at the shameful display, he can't /quite/ drown out the little voice inside that tells him it'd be so much nicer if Lianna's chest was pressed against him, instead of Leonus. Perhaps, the young lord reflects with annoyance, it's time for a visit to the Dove.
Taleo does eventually take notice of his son. Well, he first takes notice of the woman, coming through the stalls of the market and catching a perfect view. And then his eyes find his son, eventually. Ah yes. A slight smile broadens across his features, but he continues his pace through the crowds.
Leonus is becoming increasingly aware this whole matter will only further that sometimes helpful, other times not quite reputation he inherited from his father and has - to be fair - added a bit to. Still, he is being helpful in his mind that outweighs the fallout. As Lianna falls forward, Leonus just wobbles a bit. "We should go see Deron and Gamara, they will be so happy to see you.." See he does know her family. Okay though this is getting way too comfortable.
Nazeera sings a few notes of something. Then she quickly dashes to the -other- pillar trying to disguise just who sang -that- song. She takes on a non-chalant pose, holding up the other side of the bath house now.
Lianna crinkles up her nose at Leonus, in spite of the fact that her arms are comfortably draped around him. "No.. I need to get these pies back to General Ersin. That's sweet of you, mer, but duty calls first!" She makes a valiant effort to pull back from Leonus, but her backwards momentum pushes her backwards against the food stall .. and her hips against the edge of the table.
Sabinus simply places his face in the palm of his hand with a groan of dismay and a disbelieving shake of his head. He can't watch. He /can't/ watch. He... oh, heck. The young lord lifts his head, looking back. This time, he even takes a step or two closer, just in case things /do/ get out of hand. The fact that a closer view could be more enticing if the young girl's stola happens to gape open again never crosses the young lord's mind. Consciously, anyway.
Mauvia comes in from the west. Mauvia crosses over to the bath house and up the stairs without paying any attention to who's around. Mauvia passes the large double doors, entering the bath house. Mauvia has left.
One day Leonus will think back on this day and wonder if it was a gift from Kamnestra or a punishment from Eesha. For now though he teeters forward into the woman, pinning her a bit against the stand until he can staighten back up with her in a slightly wide-leg spread stance that might well make it look as if he is hugging her to him. "Okay, I will have the pies sent there and we can go there. Fair enough?" he says, trying to get to a less embarassing and yes, less enjoyable postion of helping her. "To Ersin." And for this delivery he better get a promotion.
Taleo's gaze sets on the woman and his son further, though he also becomes very aware of the attention the little scene might be drawing out. He rounds another set of market stalls, watching form a distance with that amused flicker in his eyes.
Nazeera just starts laughing to herself from the safety of the bath house arch.
Mauvia enters the forum from the bath house. Mauvia has arrived.
Lianna smiles cheerfully to Leonus, her arms dropping to her side. "That sounds lovely, Thank you so much, mer...?" In her state, she's unable to discern between nobles and commoners.
Mauvia leaves the bath house, taking her time to walk down the stairs as she glances around, eyes narrowing here and there.
Sabinus looks over at the impending disaster as Leonus and the young, extremely drunk woman falling out of her stola will doubtless soon be within eyesight of the recently arrived Mauvia. He almost moves to help, but the sheer thickness of the alcohol fumes emanating from the plastered young girl would doubtless impair his judgement, right? Still, it doesn't seem entirely fair to leave Leonus to deal completely alone with the scantily clad, drunk girl throwing herself at him. Clearly, the young lord is caught on the horns of an ethical dilemma!
Leonus works slowly, keeping the stall behind the Lianna to add support, to move her from the less than noble postion of hugging to him. He raises her arm around her neck again and gives it another try to start moving her, "Leonus, um Lord Leonus Teranzik," he replies to her as he starts to gently guide her again. "Ready?"
Taleo crosses paths into the same lane that Leonus is aiding the drunk maiden. That's when he spots his mother heading out of the bath houses. From the distance, his smile broadens a hint and then he crosses the way to intercept his mother before she has a chance to put a stop to his son's fun.
Mauvia eyes Lianna in the crowds, by someone who looks an awful lot like her grandson. Her aged lips thin to a flat line as she walks that way, not saying a word yet.
Nazeera shifts her weight against that pillar she's holding up trying to stifle her laughter. Seeing Mauvia only worsens the Captain's mirth at the situation as it seems disaster is about to strike. She takes a deep sigh and starts heading down the stairs. It just will not do to have Leonus grounded and unable to make his patrol shifts. She starts making her way through the crowds towards the unlucky Centurion and the ...Lianna person.
Lianna beams up at Leonus, the pies all but forgotten now. "You're so sweet, Lord Terzanik! I would appreciate the walk home, yes." And a bath, if she ever takes notice of the smeared cheese and spinach pies on her hands.
"Mother, pleasant day," Taleo tries those diversion techniques. In truth, he's being rather amused by the matter, not seriously believing he can keep his mom away from his son.
Sabinus also finally decides he's had his fun, and begins to move towards the powderkeg situation. After all, it wouldn't be a good thing to have the name of the Republic Military stained by a hint of dishonor! Though sometimes, Sabinus thinks that the name of the military is already stained darker than the black silk cloak he was given as a gift... still and all, he can't /completely/ in good conscience abandon Leonus to his fate. Besides, if he moves in closer, maybe he'll get another good look through that occasional gaping opening in the young lady's stola. Not that the young Rissik lord would have /that/ goal in mind! It's merely a side benefit.
Yes, the pies, the spinach might almost blend to the green of Leo's uniform, but the cheese, pity the poor servants that get to clean that out. "It is really nothing Mes," the young lord replies to the praise as he starts guiding her a bit more surefooted this time. Oh now Nazeera and Sabinus decide to help, have to admire the speedy respounce of Republic captains. Still the young pilot nods to both, unaware of how long they simply enjoyed the show. A smile rises back to his pale features, a certain proof he hasn't noticed Mauvia's arrivial or Taleo's attempt to assist or at least prolong the scene.
Mauvia eyes the obvious drunk lass with distaste as she steps in front of Leonus, "Well.." She says turning to peer into his eye for a unbearably long amount of time. In that time she hears her oldest son calling but ignores him for now. She smiles slightly knowing quite a few are in the forum, "I wished to thank you for your gift." she says with all the politeness needed and yet a stern edge beneath it.
Nazeera arrives to Leonus' side, "Ah...Centurion. Are you in need of assistance with this Mes?" she asks helpfully. "It seems she has been causing trouble here in the market for quite some time. Perhaps she needs help to get back home without bothering someone so -busy- as you? It is about time for your patrol shift I believe." she says glancing to the sky meaningfully.
"Leonus, there you are!" Taleo exclaims, as though not taking any notice of his son before this. He does follow his mother's gaze, of course, and steps toward the conversation. All those offering their assistance. It amuses Taleo to no end, though he hopes that Leonus will shift the girl in his hold just enough so that he may take sights of her flesh he took sights on some moments before.
Sabinus arrives at the rapidly-growing snarl of people surrounding Leonus and the drunk girl falling out of her stola. He reaches the scene only a moment behind Nazeera, and says simply, "Captain. Centurion. Is there some trouble here?" Trying /very/ hard to keep a straight face. And to his credit, he /almost/ manages. The twitch at one corner of his mouth as it keeps trying to quirk into a smile is the one and only giveaway to the act of will Sabinus is making in repressing his laughter.
In front of him? As if Leo wasn't having a difficult enough time with the wined woman, Mauvia had to pick there to stand to thank him, at this moment? "You're welcome, Granmama," Leonus manages with a bit of strain. Then Nazeera arrives and speaks.
Leonus looks over to her, while still making certain he doesn't drop or release Lianna. "Hi Naz, Captain.. Lord Captain," he offers when Sabinus joins them. He doesn't quite have the chance to acknowledge his father yet. "Yes Naz, some help might be nice. I think I can stay with her till we get her home though." A quick look to Lianna to see how she is doing, then he waites for Nazeera to get in position to help.
Mauvia sees Taleo out of the corner of her eye, not saying a word about his lingering glance. She nods at Leonus, stepping back slightly as her smile forms a smirk as the guards come to take the trash out. She stands by for a moment till the air clears, leaning toward her son, "A word with you Taleo..." she states.
"Of course, mother," Taleo all too quickly offers, seeing his son has the matter well at hand. Or at least decently. The lord offers his mother his arm. Nazeera lifts a brow at Sabinus and looks away quickly so she doesn't start bursting out laughing by the look on his face. She takes a deep breath, "Ah...I will take one arm then? You can take her arm..and perhaps the good Captain Rissik can take her feet?" she asks though biting the inside of her cheek to keep from giggling.
Sabinus takes a deep breath as well, and nods at Nazeera. "Yes, Captain. I would be..." He /won't/ laugh! "...would be honored to assist you and the Centurion in seeing this young woman home." He's doing his best to still act serious, and no, he /won't/ look down Lianna's stola. Not that it'd be hard, the way it gapes open sometimes.
Lianna crinkles up her nose and makes a concentrated effort to stand upright on her own. "Thank you, but General Ersin's home is close by," comes the dignified response. Or would be. The entire effect is spoiled by the fact that Lianna is now leaning at a dangerously close angle to the ground. "You're very sweet to offer, though!"
Mauvia arches a stern eyebrow at the guards and officers, One would think they would take trash out seriously. She absently slips her arm into Taleo's nodding in a polite curtness, "Of course....indeed." she mutters, "I suggest we wait for your son."
Leonus straightens Lianna a bit more, looking a bit disappointed at the thought of her actually being carried home. "Easy does it Mes Lianna," he says simply as he clings to her just a touch, not uncomfortable at all save he knows Mauvia is not even a little pleased with the state of events. "I think we would do best to help you home." And perhaps escape Mauvia to boot. His eyes catch Sabinus' and Leonus tries to stay his own smirk from rising.
Nazeera moves in to take hold of one of Lianna's arms and avoid any further open stola shows. "Ah...Mes I think it best that we help you before you fall and injure yourself. I'm sure General Ersin will appreciate it." she says with a forced stoic look to her face.
"My son seems to be preoccupied," Taleo points out, looking to the obvious of having his son's hands busy on the woman that seems to be intoxicated. "We may be waiting for some time." Taleo's glance comes on Mauvia, pondering how much she'll push the matter.
Sabinus moves to take Lianna's feet as directly, if she's lifted in such a way that he /can/ do so without making the situation further ridiculous. After all, he was enjoying the show as a spectator; he'd rather not be an additional part of the spectacle itself.
[Unfortunately the log got cut off here. Rest assured, Lianna made it
safely home in the gentlemanly arms of Sabinus. Nazeera made sure of
it. And after hearing of that little incident, High General Ersin moved
his stock of wine to a hiding place outside the city.]
