Overview

Lidanos is not remembered by many in Anarinuell now due to his long absence from the city since 20 A.U. In fact only a handful remain to recall that he once lead the First as Head of Investigations, and established the Glassworks Tavern.

Early History

Lidanos was born in Anarinuell during the reign of the Gold Dragon Clan, the oldest child and only son of a cobbler and his wife. When he was old enough he joined the service of the Clan guards and married a sweet, pretty-faced local girl named Firi. Two years later, when Elianos called for volunteers to form the new Chimera Clan and settle in Emran, Lidanos and his wife went with him and eventually had two children. They lived happily for many years while Firi tended to the children and Lidanos worked his way up in the ranks of the army, eventually becoming a Centurion. Then tragedy struck. When their son was eight their daughter twelve, the Shamibelians began their invasion from the south. Certain that they would be safe - after all, Emran was way up in the northeast, and there was no way the Shamies would make it up there - Lidanos left his family to fight by Elianos' side until he was incapacitated by an ill-timed Shami sword and captured. Fortunately for him it was just a deep cut on his upper arm and after a mere few months in the slave camps he was able to use his wits and physical wiles to escape and flee to Caldera City - for by that time news had reached him that the goats had reached and sacked Emran. Lidanos was certain that his wife and children fled in time, but when he arrived in Caldera City a woman reluctantly, painfully told him that she had been told by his Chimera neighbors that Firi and the children had been caught in the crossfire with the Shamibelians, and killed. Lidanos' entire life was shattered in that instant, and he never recovered fully from that blow. Too bitter and too sorrowful to return to Emran after the war, he followed Elianos to Anarinuell out of duty and eventually achieved the rank of General. It would be very many long years before he would allow himself to trust his heart to anyone else.

Recent History

In March of 20 A.U., the Ranivor Elianos asked Lidanos to accompany him, the remainder of the Seven Heroes, and High General Ersin on a voyage accompanying some of the Vrelanders back to their home. Out of a lifetime of loyalty and pride at being asked, Lidanos agreed. No news has been heard of them since.

Personality & Beliefs

Lidanos was a quiet man whose calm demeanor often masked a shrewd mind. His brown eyes were constantly studying his surroundings, taking everything in and filing it away in the recesses of his mind. He could be fair yet also not above resorting to stern measures to teach someone a lesson, be it an unruly child or a slapdash soldier. Having been born and brought up as a Gold Dragon monotheist, he strongly believed in the values of honor and personal excellence.

Ranks & Offices

Lidanos worked his way up from the ranks of the local guard to General in the Ranivor Elianos' troops, ending his military career as chief Investigator in the First.

Marriage

Lidanos first met Dianora when she was searching for any of her grandfather's relatives in Anarinuell, the old family home. It turned out that Firi was the sister of Dianora's grandfather, and as Lidanos began to spend time with her learning about his late wife's fate, he found himself warming to Dianora. A quiet but happy courtship ensued, and after two years they married. After his disappearance, she took on the last name of Lidanik in order to be forever associated with him.

Children

Lidanos' two children by his first wife, Deren and Catana, perished during the Great War. He had no more children after that.

Accomplishments & Successes

Lidanos became the chief of Investigators among the guards in Anarinuell. The footloose youth within the city learned quickly that while the man could be fair, neither was he above serving them the back of his hand if need be.

Upon his retirement, the Ranivor Elianos generously rewarded the General for his many years of loyal service with three plots of land plus a shop within the Palace District. At first at a loss about what to do with such a valuable piece of property, Lidanos eventually came up with the idea of opening a Tavern where his fellow guards and commoners could gather and relax.

Allies

One of Lidanos' closest friends was the High Priest and General Agarn. They met on the field during Lidanos' last season in active duty in the army, where Agarn had managed to work himself up into a battle rage and did well at first but ended up surrounded by several Shamibelians at one point. Lidanos charged into the fray and helped the young sentry cut his way out and overcome the odds. Thereafter they kept in touch, with Lidanos becoming fond of the younger man and the two often sparring together for sport.
