PART I: LIDANOS AND ASALA

[Anarinuell: Civic-Center Square ]

Asala comes in from the north. Asala walks from the north with her byrrus pulled against the chill.

Asala pauses in her steps as she sees Lidanos, then walks cautiously over to him.

Lidanos nods to Asala.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Good afternoon."

Asala says softly "Good afternoon, Commander. May I speak with you?" {Firan}

Eliana comes in from the north.

Lidanos says in Firan, "You already are. What do you need?"

Asala curtseys to Eliana as she stands patiently waiting for Lidanos to agree to speak with her.

Eliana inclines her head to Asala, acknowledgingly.

Asala looks back to Lidanos "I am wondering if anything has occurred recently with the situation, if there is a situation, from the other day, and also if you might consider it alright for Coran and I to see each other again. {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "No. The reason I think it is best you remain apart is because you get each other into trouble. The Ranivor backs me on this issue."

Asala frowns very softly "Please, Commander, I understand why you see that, but it is important that we get on with our lives, we need to marry." {Firan}

Lidanos continues, "If you can clean up your act, get a job, show gainful employment; and if Coran can also get a job and show gainful employment and a place for you both to live, then I'll consider it." {Firan}

Asala draws the byrrus around herself as protection from the words as much as the chill in the air. "I am working on it, Commander." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Your Firan has greatly improved. That is a good start to fitting into our world."

Lidanos says in Firan, "Have you turned any tricks since we last talked?"

Eliana blushes. She walks off.

Asala shakes her head "No, Commander. That is past. The child deserves a better life." {Firan}

Eliana heads north.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Do you even know whose it is?"

Asala lifts her gaze to yours "Yes, it is Coran's." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Or is Coran just a convenient dupe?"

Asala frowns as if slapped.

Lidanos says in Firan, "How do you know it's his? How many other men have you slept with?"

Asala says quietly "If he is, then the goddess is doing a good job of making him one as it is she that told me." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "And how did the goddess come down and tell you?"

Asala takes a deep breath to calm herself "In a vision, Commander." {Firan}

Lidanos frowns, rubbing his chin and unconsciously playing with the hilt of his sword, "And tell me this: when did you start worshipping our gods?" {Firan}

Asala sighs, aware that she is getting more upset but not knowing exactly why. "I did not, but I think they are real, I don't worship any yet, I think" {Firan}

Asala takes a partial step back with one foot, her posture becoming slightly more withdrawn and protective.

Lidanos says in Firan, "That's right. You don't even worship Eesha, yet you claim she gave you a vision. It could have been one of Uf's tricks -- or Drik's! Or you could be making it all up. I think that's what you're doing."

Asala swallows hard and speaks with a hitch in her voice "I think you like being mean." {Firan}

Asala frowns and looks down "I can't explain it, I'm only trying to understand it. " {Firan}

Lidanos spits out the words bitterly, showing no respect for you. "The way I see it is you are in a bad situation and maybe even sick of turning tricks for your bread and soup. You get knocked up by some Jonik, and you realize that your street days are numbered. You meet a young, naive boy and seduce him, then tell him it's his kid. That's your way out, right?" {Firan}

Asala stands very still, fighting her instincts and urges with varying degrees of success. Finally she manages to say "Wrong." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Well, you're going to have to prove it to me. Get a real job, stay out of trouble, quit seducing men for money. And if Coran can get his life straightened out and stay out of trouble, too, then perhaps I'll bless your marriage. Until then, I think the city is better with you two far apart."

Lidanos says in Firan, "If you sneak behind my back, I'll suggest to Ranivor Elianos that young, idealistic, 'I don't believe in the army' Coran should be sent off to military training for a while, and get some experience in the war in the Spring."

Asala frowns and shakes her head as her hands move beneath her byrrus, drawing it to her. "I did not understand what you said last. {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "I said that you need to SHOW me that you're different than what I say. Get a job and quit taking men to bed for money."

Asala continues to frown "Something about the city." {Firan}

Lidanos repeats, "And if Coran can get a good job and a place for you to live, and if he can stay out of legal trouble, I'll think about blessing your marriage." {Firan}

Lidanos nods, "I said the city is probably better off with you two far apart, for all the trouble you cause." {Firan}

Asala asks quietly "May I stay in the city?" {Firan}

Lidanos nods.

Asala tries not to snarl as she says "Thank you for at least that." {Firan}

[Barik comes back into character from an OOC room. ]

Asala keeps her face down to hide the scowl she would throw at Lidanos.

Asala sees Barik out of the corner of her eye and fidgets more, stepping back away from Lidanos slightly more.

Barik comes in from the south, and catches a glimpse of Lidanos. He salutes, then notes Asala, starting to stare as he sees her.

Lidanos nods to Barik and returns the salute.

Asala looks up at the salute, then to Barik and feels spotlighted by his stare.

Barik shakes his head slowly and looks toward Lidanos again. "Good day, sir." {Firan}

Lidanos notices Asala's reaction to Barik and narrows his eyes in study. "Asala, have you met my Centurion, Barik?" {Firan}

Asala says softly to Lidanos "If you've no further need to verbally abuse me, Commander, I'll be off." {Firan}

Asala nods at his words.

Lidanos says in Firan, "How do you know him?"

Asala replies quietly "Is this an interrogation, Sir?" {Firan}

Barik smirks at the troublemaker.

Lidanos curls one side of his face in a wry smile. "I'm sure you would not have to ask me that if it were." {Firan}

Asala responds to his earlier question and ignores the last statement "I was with Coran and his sister here one day when he and Coran spoke of something. " {Firan}

Asala lifts her chin a bit, tired of being a wimp, the scar around her neck showing above the byrrus slightly. Her eyes meet Lidanos' and Barik's as necessary.

Barik hrms. "Yes, that's right... but I could swear I've seen you before that." {Firan}

Lidanos nods to Asala. "You're free to go whenever you wish." {Firan}

Asala smiles a little in a not so nice way "Only if you've come to the White Dove." {Firan}

Barik glances at Lidanos. "The White Dove?" {Firan}

Asala shrugs with a smirk that seems unusual on her face. "Maybe it's your child." {Firan}

Lidanos chuckles to his junior officer, "You need to explore the old city a bit more, in case you ever need to chase a thug into the maze..." {Firan}

Lidanos looks at Asala, "He's a customer of yours?" {Firan}

Barik looks confused. "Sir, what exactly is The White Dove?" He seems to be picking up the right idea, though. {Firan}

Asala says with a mock sigh "Oh, please, I can't remember them all. He's the one who says he's seen me. If he'd drop his pants maybe I'd remember." {Firan}

Barik scowls.

Asala seems to be getting some kind of perverse amusement out of the interchange for once.

Lidanos raises an eyebrow in amusement, himself.

PART II: CORAN FINDS A BODY

Coran comes in from the west.

Shoppers crowd the marketplace trying to find good deals.

Coran storms into the square, tears in his eyes, as he chokes.

Asala moves her hands under the byrrus again, watching Barik's reactions.

Coran says in Firan, "Lidanos...Barik...I found her...oh gods I found her...."

Coran coughs as though he will throw up.

Lidanos turns to look at Coran. "Found whom?" {Firan}

Asala looks past Barik to Coran, then looks down to Lidanos, and back to Coran.

Asala looked at you.

Coran says in Firan, "Ash.....oh by the gods...."

Barik turns to Coran. "You have?" {Firan}

Asala remains carefully silent and inexpressive.

Coran says in Firan, "She is dead..."

Barik sighs. "As I expected." {Firan}

Coran sobs and pulls on his hair.

Asala frowns and stays still, though fidgeting as she would prefer to be moving to comfort Coran.

Barik frowns, as a strange feeling of pity comes over him. "I'm sure you will find another love, Coran." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Take me to the body, Coran."

Asala sharply looks to Barik.

Coran says in Firan, "FOllow me, both of ye."

Barik starts following Coran.

Coran smiles to Asala, as best he can offer.

[Much wizard stuff happens here as Steph says that the body isn't really there and she sets up a lookalike body to take its place.]

Asala remains behind as per Lidano's edict, though she is frowning deeply.

Eliana comes in from the east.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Take me to see her."

Lidanos says in Firan, "Barik, you want to come along?"

Asala says "Moose." {Bonduin}

Barik says in Firan, "Yes, sir. I'll follow."

Coran heads west.

[Continued trek to the Rat in the Brew Tavern in Sarkaran]

Coran makes a dirty look. "Its in here." {Firan}

Coran opens the door into the Rat in the Brew Tavern and steps in.

Coran has left.

You follow Coran.

[look body]

A young woman's dead body that has started to decompose. With green eyes, and waist length red hair, she appears to weigh 110 pounds and is 5'4". She has no tattoos, piercings, or distinguishing marks of any kind.

Coran says in Firan, "There...."

Barik enters cautiously, and glances at the body.

Lidanos says in Firan, "It looks like her..."

Coran nods. "Same size....hair..." {Firan}

Lidanos has a grim look of serious distaste on his face.

Coran groans.

Coran looks away.

Lidanos nudges her with a foot, seeing if there's anything under her.

Barik studies the body carefully, but holds his breath and refrains from contact.

You try to say something in Firan with your pose, but as you realize you can't remember the words, you stop.

Lidanos asks Coran softly, "Can you positively identify her as Ashnara?" {Firan}

Coran takes a deep breath. "Now do you beleive me, Lidanos?" {Firan}

Coran nods.

Barik looks back at Lidanos with an inquisitive look on his face. "It looks like her... but something doesn't seem right..." {Firan}

Lidanos quirks a brow at Barik, "What? She's pretty badly rotten..." {Firan}

Coran winces as he looks closely at the body. "Yes.." he chokes.."Its her....I can tell..." {Firan}

Barik rolls his Perception at difficulty 8 and gets NO successes.

Barik looks at the body again. "I'm not sure... something just doesn't seem right..." {Firan}

Coran sighs...."I am sorry, Lidanos.." he says. "No, this is not her..." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "What?"

Lidanos looks really confused. "It looks like her." {Firan}

Coran shakes his head. "She had...piercings in her ears...otherwise, they look alike, exactly..." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Exactly?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "How can you tell through all the rot?"

Coran covers his face. "Take me from here...please." {Firan}

Flies buzz around her face, one landing on her open vacant eye.

Coran chokes.

Lidanos nods, and puts an arm on Coran's shoulder, guiding him out.

Barik nods. "Sir, what should I do?" {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Take the body to the temple of Unot. Find a priest and have him make preparations for a cremation."

Lidanos salutes Barik.

Barik nods and salutes. "Yes, sir." {Firan}

Coran follows along with Lidanos.

PART III: Lidanos and Eliana

[Long trek back to Anarinuell: Civic-Center Square, joining Eliana and Asala]

Lidanos sits down on a bench and puts his head in his hands for a while.

Asala is thankfully sitting on a different bench.

Asala watches Lidanos return and says nothing, but pulls her byrrus back over her without getting up.

Asala puts on her leather byrrus.

Eliana says in Firan, "You seem troubled, good Lidanos.."

Lidanos looks at the bare feet of the person talking to him. Without looking up, he says, "Who is this?" {Firan}

Eliana says in Firan, "The Lady Eliana Rissik."

Lidanos stands up. "Ah, hello Lady Rissik. Is there something I can do to help you?" {Firan}

Eliana says in Firan, "Oh, no, good Lidanos. Please, please sit. You seemed troubled. Don't go through any trouble for me just now.."

Lidanos says in Firan, "That would be impolite of me. You should sit down with me..."

Eliana smiles and nods. "As you wish, good Lidanos.." {Firan}

Eliana seats herself next to you, then (presuming that you have sat back down), a polite distance away.

Asala watches Eliana and Lidanos through the crowd of people passing between them.

Lidanos sits down after Eliana does. He talks softly to her.

Dursun comes in from the west.

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "I don't want to burden you with my troubles. I'm sure a noblewoman like yourself has plenty of her own."

Asala frowns and begins to watch the people again.

Dursun appears to be walking calmly along the walkway, his eyes gaze from one side of the street to the other, finally stepping into the market place.

Lidanos and Eliana are talking very quietly on a bench.

Coran comes in from the north.

Asala looks at Dursun as well as all the other people, in passing.

Coran slumps into a bench.

Dursun steps up to one of the merchants, starting a small conversation.

Asala glances over to Coran, thankfully he is not on the same bench either.

Asala returns her gaze to the people.

Coran folds his hands on his face and weeps.

Eliana whispers in Firan, "Tsktsk, good Lidanos. That's not fair. I do have my troubles. Conversely, as a noblewoman, I am obligated to consider the problems of those about me.. as problems that I am obligated to try to address. And therefore, you should tell me your problems, so that maybe, I might judge.. for myself.. " She flushes. "I don't why to pry into something personal, though. Want to, rather. Or rather, I don't wish to try to get you to tel.. tell me something you don't want to.""

Lidanos stares at Eliana, as if considering.

Barik comes in from the west.

A herald passes by and shouts, "It's Firan time: 04:00:10 PM on Sun Sep 5, in the year 15 A.U., and Judge Kralentor scheduled and held a trial for the accused theft Ashnara. She did not appear at her court date, and her bail money is therefore forfeit. Moreover, there is now a new warrant for her arrest. The woman has green eyes, red hair to her waist, stands about 5'5" tall and weighs about 110 pounds. She has multiple piercings in her ears, and may be armed and dangerous."

Dursun looks up from the merchant as if distracted, turning around to glances at the weeping man..

Eliana whispers in Firan, "It looked liked you needed to talk. I had never seen you thus. But I would understand if I was not the sort of person you would not care to confide in. I mean, I don't have any call on your secrets.. But you did like you might need an ear."

Coran is on the bench, crying. On another bench is Asala,

Asala looks to Coran, frowning, then to Lidanos, considering the consequences.

Coran flinches as he hears Ashnara's name.

Eliana awaits, seated on a bench near Lidanos.

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "I found a rather badly decomposed corpse of a very young woman, stripped of her clothes, abandoned in Sarkaran. She looks a lot like [he pauses at the herald's announcement and winces] ... she looks a lot like the woman we are searching for."

Lidanos winces too.

Eliana shudders.

Asala takes a deep breath and stands, walking over to Coran purposefully, and sitting next to him. Her arms reach out from the byrrus and wrap around him.

Dursun walks down towards Coran, raising a brow slightly, "My lord man, shedding tears in public?"

Eliana whispers in Firan, "Ohmy. I can see why you were troubled. That's awful."

Coran calms as Asala holds him, and casts a glassy stare at Dursun.

Eliana whispers in Firan, "Why do people do such things?"

Asala glances up to Dursun with a frown, pulling Coran closer to her.

Eliana covers her mouth, shocked, her eyes disconcerted.

Asala puts a gentle hand to Coran's cheek, pulling his head to her shoulder.

Lidanos rolls his Perception at difficulty 9 and gets 1 fumble.

Lidanos doesn't notice Asala and Coran.

Coran sighs as Asala does this, and closes his eyes.

Dursun almost looks discusted, he shakes his head, "Atleast have the dignity to be in private while weeping.." And with that, he turns and walks back to the merchant.

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "If I knew the answer, Lady, I wouldn't have to do this job."

Barik heads east.

Asala rocks Coran softly.

Eliana whispers in Firan, "Do you have any idea who did it?"

Asala whispers something to Coran.

Eliana nods to Lidanos, her hand over her mouth, still.

Coran nods to Asala, and whspers.

Coran whispers something to Asala.

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "No. Not really. And the real Ashnara is still at large."

Asala shakes her head slightly, a movement which Coran feels rather than sees. "I did not understand what you said," she says quietly. {Firan}

Eliana whispers in Firan, "The real Ashnara? Whatever do you mean?"

Coran whispers something to Asala.

Coran stands.

Asala frowns softly and stands.

Coran walks north. Coran heads north. Asala heads north.

Dursun negotiates with a merchant for backpacks.

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "My apologies, m'lady. We are searching for a red-haired woman who was indicted for theft. She made bail and subsequently jumped it and did not show up for her trial."

Coran comes in from the north.

Coran heads north.

Eliana whispers in Firan, "Yes. The Heralds spoke of such a person. Was that not Ashnara?"

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "Her name is Ashnara. Today a boy I know found a body of a woman matching the description of Ashnara. We checked her out, but it turns out it wasn't her. She just looks a lot like her. She's missing some earrings and tattoos."

You whisper to Eliana in Firan, "Yes, that was Ashnara of whom the heralds spoke."

Lidanos nods.

Eliana whispers in Firan, "So the woman who was found only resembles Ashnara? So the thief is still free?"

PART IV: CORAN AND ASALA DEFY LIDANOS

Asala comes in from the north. Coran comes in from the north.

Asala stops Coran and walks with him over to Lidanos, holding his hand.

Coran looks confusedly at Asala.

Asala squeezes Coran's hand and looks steadily at Lidanos.

Lidanos looks up at Coran and Ashnara.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Excuse me, Lady Rissik."

Eliana looks up too.

Eliana nods. She says, "Of course.." {Firan}

Lidanos stands. "You dare defy the Ranivor's orders in front of me?" {Firan}

Lidanos stares angrily at Coran and Asala.

Asala frowns at Lidanos "You might as well throw us in jail, Commander. You said not to sneak around behind your back." {Firan}

Asala looks at him "So, we are not." {Firan}

Dursun looked at you.

Eliana covers a smile with one slim hand, somewhat comforted by the change of subject.

Coran frowns.

Lidanos speaks between clenched teeth, "I also told you not to see each other." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "We are to be married tomorrow. We need to see each other for that."

Asala continues "He is upset, I don't know over what. If you had a person you loved, you would want to comfort them too. " {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "You'll be in jail tomorrow, Coran."

Coran sighs. "Kill me first." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "I will not lose another."

Asala jabs Coran in the rib lightly.

Dursun turns away from the merchant to observe the group once again.

Asala frowns "Jail is not death." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Asala, do you realize that he was madly in love with another woman not a week or two ago?"

Asala looks at Lidanos. "Yes, I realize that. I realize a lot more than you think, Commander." the last said with scorn. {Firan}

Lidanos turns back to Coran, "And you, do you realize that it might not even be youre child she's carrying? How do you know? She's a whore, for Drik'ssake. {Firan}

Coran nods. "Its mine." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "And you know this how?"

Asala rolls her eyes "Don't bother, Coran. He wants to disbelieve me." {Firan}

Dursun slowly walks up to the group..

Lidanos says in Firan, "I'll bet in nine months when the kid comes out, he has Shorister's eyes. Or maybe Shamibelian horns."

Lidanos stares at Dursun for a moment, anger apparent on his face.

Coran sighs, "One way or the other, I lover her," ignoring the last comment. {Firan}

Asala circles Lidanos and moves in to attack with her fists.

Coran says in Firan, "NO!"

Lidanos just reaches out and grabs the girl.

Lidanos tries to escape Asala, but fails.

Asala is enraged.

Lidanos tries to escape Asala, but fails.

Dursun ignores the Commanders face.. yet back steps as the woman engages him..

Asala misses Lidanos with her fists.

Eliana looks shocked.

Lidanos puts his hand in the way of Asala's punches. "Stop it, woman!" {Firan}

Lidanos gets away from Asala.

Coran blanches. "Asala! No!" {Firan}

Coran tries to get between them.

Dursun looks at Coran, "You had better control your girlfriend!" He says with a growl.

Asala backs off, snarling.

Coran groans.

Asala suddenly laughs "Commander, you called me a woman! You are slipping." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "Asala. Please. Stop...do ye want to go to jail?"

Asala throws her hands up "I don't care, Coran. At least there I may stand a better chance at not being falsely accused or suspected for things that happen while I'm there. {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Every stupid move like this that you make only solidifies my position. You two are trouble together."

Coran sighs.

Dursun steps up beside Lidanos..

Dursun gazes back and forth between Coran and Asala.

Eliana stands up, watching the scene, completely puzzled.

Coran says in Firan, "Do not hurt her, Sir."

PART V: SHORISTER COMPLICATES MATTERS

Shorister comes in from the west.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Have I?"

Asala glares at Lidanos "So what? For your information, my former

  • customers* did NOT usually beat me up. It was not allowed. Just because

you think I'm lying does NOT mean I am." {Firan}

Coran growls. "Shorister!" {Firan}

Shorister strolls up the street, takes one look at the company in the square, and turns right back around.

Shorister heads west.

Coran heads west.

Asala says in Bonduin, "mifovyf!"

Shorister comes in from the west.

Shorister comes running up the street, looking behind him.

Lidanos stares at Asala incredulously, "What in the city of lost souls are you talking about?" {Firan}

Asala sees Shorister and her anger flashes to fear.

Coran comes in from the west.

Coran says in Firan, "Shorister!"

Shorister slows to a jog as he sees Lidanos and approaches him. "Will you tell this horses arse to stay away from me? Did ye not jes order me to stay away from him?"

Coran whispers something to Shorister.

Firans do their last minute shopping before heading home for the day.

Asala looks down with the look of a spooked horse about to bolt.

Coran awaits an answer.

Eliana looks over to Shorister, back to Coran, Asala and Lidanos, and back.

Shorister shouts, "Git away from me ye lousy piece o' trash an if ye whisper t' me again, I'm go'n t' hit ye right in the mouth."

Eliana's hand strays toward her sword, though she doesn't actually grasp it.

Coran whispers something to Shorister.

Asala looks up then to Shorister at his shout.

Coran has a pleading look in his eyes.

Lidanos stares at Shorister and Coran. "Yes!" he shouts. "Coran, quit following him!" {Firan}

Coran kneels, and places his hands on the ground. "Please...tell me." {Firan}

Dursun keeps his stance frimly beside the Commander..

Shorister glares at Coran. "Ye shut yer foul, stinkin, mad mouth."

Coran says in Firan, "I have to know."

Coran says in Firan, "Ye owe me that."

Asala begins to inch backwards.

Coran says in Firan, "Where?....."

Dursun looks from Coran to Asala.. then to Shorister.. his eyes narrowing.

Shorister looks to Lidanos, a dark look crossing his face. "Ye know, I patiently waited here, accused falsely, a few nights back, an I have had it. Enough. If ye don't git him off my back and away from me, I'm goin' to have t' take law into my own hands."

Asala frowns and steps back again from the group.

Lidanos informs Dursun, "Centurion, there is a direct order of restraint upheld by the Ranivor himself that these three," he says, motioning to Asala, Coran, and Shorister, "are not to talk or associate with one another." {Firan}

Shorister says in Firan, "An I 'ave abided by et."

Shorister says in Firan, "But here ye are my witness, he hath not."

Asala hisses to Lidanos "That is what I am talking about Commander, the "false accusation" {Firan}

Dursun nods slightly, "Understood Commander.." He says lowly, stepping forward, closer to the three.

Lidanos gives Shorister a very dangerous look, that of a man at the end of his patience. "Shorister, if you do anything other than avoid these two, I'll put you away myself." He says 'put away' in a way that may mean prison, or not. {Firan}

Asala steps back once more, farther away.

Shorister returns to Lidanos a mirror of his own mood. "You will arrest him then."

Lidanos says in Firan, "Indeed. I will."

Shorister says in Firan, "Aye, then I 'ave no need t' protect myself if Justice is served."

Shorister says in Firan, "I'll be off then."

Lidanos spits out the words, "But I am the arm of the law in this city, not you. Keep clean, or else." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "Ye never answered me!"

Shorister turns without looking behind him, and walks away.

Coran says in Firan, "Where is Ashnara?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "Coran, you are under arrest. You have violated the Ranivor's orders more than once today."

Shorister heads west.

Dursun watchs Shroister walk away.. then turning to Coran and Asala, stepping closer to them, "Stay where you are.."

PART VI: LIDANOS ARRESTS CORAN

Coran sighs. "Kill me first. I cannot be separated from Asala. I told ye that." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "I have gotten complaints that you have harassed Lady Sarcia. I have gotten complaints and seen with my own eyes that you are harassing Shorister. You are blatantly violating my order to stay away from him and Asala."

A herald passes by and shouts, "It's Firan time: 05:01:02 PM on Sun Sep 5, in the year 15 A.U., and Judge Kralentor scheduled and held a trial for the accused theft Ashnara.

Lidanos turns to Asala, "If you love him, you won't let him die today." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "I will have thistaken to Lord Bannos if ye dare!"

Dursun looks at Coran, "Pipe down..."

Lidanos points his short sword at Coran. "Put your spear on the ground, slowly." He looks at Dursun. {Firan}

Eliana decides that she has important errands to run. She steps away. Eliana heads west.

Coran sighs.

Asala frowns at Lidanos "What can I do? Anything I say is not believed by you or listened to." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "We did this before I remmeber."

Dursun puts a hand on his own dagger starpped to his thigh, "Put it down.." [he's telling Coran]

Asala scowls to Coran "Don't be an idiot." {Firan}

Coran stands still.

Lidanos locks his eyes on Coran's. His sword is at a ready position that belies great experience.

Asala asks "Are you arresting me too, commander?" {Firan}

Dursun steps closer to him, then growls, "Put it down.. of I'll chop it off.."

Lidanos doesn't look away from Coran (assuming Asala is right next to him). "No, Asala." {Firan}

Coran stares silently.

Asala looks surprised and frightened "No?" {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "If you refuse to give up your weapon, you are resisting arrest."

Dursun looks over to Lidanos for a moment, as if waiting for the green light..

Coran says nothing.

Asala says in Firan, ""coran, don't get yourself killed.""

Ibania comes in from the west.

Lidanos and Dursun are in an armed showdown with Coran, and possibly Asala.

Coran looks to Ibania. "Lady, ye must speak to your father about what ye see here." {Firan}

Lidanos says "Asala, back up slowly."

Asala says in Firan, "Coran! Put it down!"

Asala backs up from the men.

Ibania walks in and is visibly shocked.

Coran says in Firan, "Tell him my name, my clan, and that I am doing no harm, but am being arrested."

Coran says in Firan, "My Lord Bannos knows me."

Dursun steps closer to Coran, now within arms length, "You have ten seconds to put that spear down, and get on your knees."

Taria comes in from the west.

Ibania simply nods in shocked silence.

Lidanos and Dursun are in an armed showdown with Coran, and possibly Asala.

Asala looks to Ibania "Also tell him that this is mostly because I was assaulted by Shorister and Lidanos chooses to believe I am lying." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Asala, you may go speak to Lord Bannos on your own. You are not under arrest. You should leave now."

Taria breaks into a run from the west end of the marketplace, hearing the commotion.

Coran says in Firan, "Tell him that his is an abuse of power, that they would separate me from she who I marry tomorrow."

Ibania nods again mumbling, "I will..." {Firan}

Ibania looks to Lidanos, "Why do you arrest him?" {Firan}

Asala steps farther back. "also tell him to look for Shorister if I am missing or dead." {Firan}

Asala says finally "Coran, we need you to live." {Firan}

Eliana comes in from the east.

Asala heads west.

Barik comes in from the east.

Taria breaks into a run from the west end of the marketplace, hearing the commotion.

Taria takes off her Iron Short Sword. Taria wields her Iron Short Sword.

Ibania looks to Lidanos, "Why do you arrest him?" {Firan}

Coran stands motinless.

Lidanos has Coran at the end of his sword. Taria just saw us and ran to join us. Dursun has a dagger out and is closing on Coran. Asala just left. Ibania is asking questions at a very bad time.

Dursun stands the closest to Coran, his muscles tense in prepartion for combat, "Don't make me Corna.. I really don't want to." He growls.

Taria shouts, "Need assistance commander?"

Barik joins the group, sword at the ready. Barik wields his Bronze Short Sword.

Lidanos rolls his eyes. "Yes!" {Firan}

Dursun wields his Iron Dagger.

Coran stands till.

Dursun whips the dagger from the sheath strapped to his thigh..

Coran says in Firan, "I am not doing anything."

Ibanias eyes flash..

Lidanos nods to Dursun and Taria, "Grab him." {Firan}

Moira comes in from the west.

Coran says in Firan, "Look, man! DO you see a weapon in my hand?"

Ibania says in Firan, "Stop this nonsense at once! All this for one man? Are you all out of your minds?"

Coran says in Firan, "WHat have I done?"

Taria stands in front of Ibania and pushes her back as she runs forward.

Coran stands completley still.

Barik stands near Coran. "Coran, Coran, Coran..." {Firan}

Dursun puts the dagger back into its sheath and steps forward, attempting to grab Coran's arms.

Taria looks around at the tense stances, and then at Coran's small spear, and circles from behind him, approaching him at an even pace as Barik does as well.

Dursun unwields his Iron Dagger.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Coran, you have repeatedly violated my orders, which are backed by the Ranivor's wishes. You have also resisted arrest."

Coran pulls his hand away, backing slowly form them. "I am going no where. I have done nothing." {Firan}

Moira notices the commotion and rolls her eyes, not really surprised to see who's at the center of it now.

Dursun tries to move in to attack Coran with his fists, but fails.

Lidanos tells his guards, "Subdue him if possible and drag him to the jail." {Firan}

Dursun circles Coran and moves in to attack with his fists.

Coran says in Firan, "I am not even fightint you!"

Lidanos says in Firan, "Someone grab that weapon and take it from him."

Coran backs away. "My Lady Ibania, remember to tell your father!" {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "Hey!"

Dursun steps into Coran, using only his hands..

Barik unwields his Bronze Short Sword.

Taria snatches the spear away from Coran with one quick motion.

PART VII: IBANIA PROVOKES TARIA

Ibania steps briskly towards Lidanos, "I demand to know why you arrest my firned?!!" {Firan}

Lidanos turns to Ibania, "You may make any demands you like. I suggest you take them to the Ranivor."

Taria turns to Ibania. "Shut up!"

Dursun misses Coran with his fists.

Barik puts on his Bronze Short Sword.

Eliana stares at Taria, a bit suprised.

Moira fades into the shadows, watching with a faint smile of amusement on her face.

Ibania glares at the Ticanee woman, "Excuse me?!" {Firan}

Taria says in Firan, "If you've no business here, back away and go home. This is guard business."

Lidanos says in Firan, "Take him to prison, Dursun."

Barik glances at Taria, waiting for her to make a move before engaging Coran as well.

Coran says in Firan, "She is Lady Ibania, watch your mout!"

Taria says in Firan, "Yeah, well I'm Lady Taria, and shut yours before I punch your teeth out."

Coran holds his hands in the air. "I am not fighting you!" {Firan}

Dursun hits air as he misses the man with his fist.. he steps in closer to strike him down. "Then get on your knees!"

Lidanos :laughs at what Taria says, despite the seriousness of the situation.

Ibania snorts, "Four against one? This is bullying, Lady Taria.. not 'guard business." {Firan}

Dursun says in Firan, "NOw!"

Coran stands still.

Taria herds non-essential people away from the scene with the spear half tilted like a stick.

Ibania stands her ground.

Taria glances once, appologetically, at Eliana, but backs people away so that Lidanos and the others can do their jobs.

Barik stands close by as backup, watching carefully.

Eliana gives Taria a sort of unreadable look. She steps away.

Taria says in Firan, "Move back or I'll put you under arrest for obstruction of justice."

Eliana heads east.

Ibania laughs in Taria's face.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Barik, Dursun, grab him and drag him if you have to."

Coran says in Firan, "WHat justice?"

Dursun says in Firan, "Get down now, or I will force you down, and I don't want to do that Coran!"

Barik mumbles, "Won't be the first noble in that cell..." {Firan}

Coran stands his ground.

Ibania nods to Coran, "Justice indeed. He is being arrested for being in love with Asala! That is not justice!" {Firan}

Dursun misses Coran with his fists.

Barik grabs Coran with a strong grip.

Taria shakes her head. "How proud your noble father will be of you, m'lady Istabannos."

Coran struggles pulling back.

Ibania backs up slightly,, but refuses to leave the area.

Barik glares at Coran disapprovingly. "Come quietly." {Firan}

Coran lowers himself to the ground.

    • Kava has arrived. **

Dursun pulls out a small rope from his waistband and ties them around Coaran's hands..

Moira nods to Coran in quiet approval.

Dursun sighs, "Now, why couldn't you just comply the first time Coran?"

Coran submits to the guards.

Coran says in Firan, "Lady, rmember, tell Bannos. I am innocent."

Dursun disengages Coran, halting his attack.

Coran sighs.

Asala comes in from the west. Asala returns hoping the affair has been settled peacably.

Dursun stands Coran to his feet, holding his arm from behind him, "Listen.. we take you down there, and get this all figured out."

Kava nods and says, "Alright, Coran, you aren't resisting? Then I

don't see why the three brawny guards can't physically move you along. Moira, you get struck by a rock thrown from a child trying to hit Taria and die from massive hemmoraging.. that's what you get for snickering ;) (JK)..

Ibania nods, "I shall tell my father, Coran. Worry not about that." {Firan}

Asala frowns seeing them still here and backs away again.

Asala heads west.

Coran says in Firan, "You will not arrest me, then?"

Coran starts following Lidanos.

Coran says in Firan, "Take me then."

Dursun hears Ibania's voice and looks over Coran's shoulder at her..

Dursun follows Coran closely..

PART VIII: CORAN GOES TO JAIL

[Long trek to the jail... Anarinuell District Jail: Outer Chamber ]

[NOTE: Lidanos notices that in the prison, the hall door to the cell wing is unlocked.]

Lidanos pushes Coran into the first cell.

Dursun removes the ropes from Coran's hands first..

Coran enters cell #1. Coran has left.

Lidanos says "Barik, get his belongings."

Dursun steps away from the cell.. letting out a sigh.

Barik says in Firan, "Yes, sir."

Barik enters cell #1. Barik has left.

From cell #1, Coran drops the Locksmith's Tools.

Dursun looks at Lidanos, his brow furrowing.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Once I see that door lock, I'm going to go file formal complaints against Coran."

Dursun nods slightly, "Of course sir.."

From cell #1, Coran takes off his silver earrings.

From cell #1, Coran drops the silver earrings.

From cell #1, Coran takes off his silver necklace.

Dursun pats the dagger on his thigh, "I'm just glad I didn't have to use this, because I really didn't want to Commander."

From cell #1, Coran drops the silver necklace.

Lidanos says "I didn't want to kill the dumb kid either. But I would have if he'd have pulled that spear on me."

Dursun nods, "I would have too sir.. I would have." He then kicks himself off the wall he was leaning against and heads for the exit outside, "I'll be outside if you need me Commander."

Firans head home after a long day's work to talk to their friends and neighbors about their lots in life.

Dursun tries to open iron door leading out, but finds that it's locked.

From cell #1, Coran shouts, "I will give them to Lidanos, not you."

From somewhere nearby, you hear a male voice shout, "I will give them to Lidanos, not you."

From cell #1, Barik shouts, "NOW!"

From somewhere nearby, you hear a male voice shout, "NOW!"

Coran leaves the cell and enters the outer chamber. Coran has arrived.

Lidanos says in Firan, "You know the procedure. The door doesn't open unless the prisoner's cell is locked."

Coran takes off his gold bracelet.

Barik leaves the cell and enters the outer chamber. Barik has arrived.

Lidanos stares at Coran. He assumes he's trying to escape.

Dursun nods slightly, then turns as he hears Coran come through the cell, 'Problems Barik?"

Barik grabs the bracelet and the key from Coran. "Next time, listen to orders!" {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "Lidanos...those are meant for you, not him."

Coran says in Firan, "I will not submit if he keeps them."

Dursun looks at Coran, 'You don't really have a choice.."

Coran says in Firan, "Yes I do."

Barik shakes his head. "And I thought you'd changed, Coran..." {Firan}

Coran says in Firan, "I thought ye had too."

Lidanos looks at any of the ten or so guards here, and they shove Coran violently back into the cell.

Coran enters cell #1. Coran has left.

Dursun steps back slightly to let the other guards shove Coran..

lock: Lidanos locks door to the first cell with a click.

From somewhere nearby, you hear a male voice shout, "You will hear from Bannos about this!"

PART IX: LIDANOS REAMS BARIK

Lidanos says in Firan, "Barik, I want to talk to you in the guard room."

Barik nods. "Yes, sir." {Firan}

[Anarinuell District Jail: Guard Room ]

Several guards are seen milling around in this room.

Lidanos kicks out the guards milling around. "Out." {Firan}

Barik sits down. "Yes, sir?" {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Stand up when your superior addresses you!"

Barik gulps and hurridly stands. "Yes, sir!" {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "When we arrived at the prison, was the main door locked or unlocked?"

Barik says in Firan, "Locked, sir."

Lidanos says in Firan, "Correct. And was the hall door to the cell wing locked or unlocked?"

Barik says in Firan, "It... it was locked...?"

Lidanos shakes his head in staccato motion. "No! It was *wide*open*." {Firan}

Barik looks a bit nervous under the pressure. "I had locked it, sir." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "I am putting you on official notice. The next time I see that door wide open like that, you're a sentry again. Understood?"

Barik says in Firan, "Yes, sir. Sorry, sir."

Lidanos says in Firan, "I'm going to go to the bar and make something good of this evening. Check the prisoner, then you're free to join me if you wish."

Barik nods. "Thank you, sir. Shall I put his belongings in your chest?" {Firan}

Lidanos nods, opening it.

[stuff into chest]

Lidanos says in Firan, "Lock up here before you leave."

Lidanos seems to still be fuming from the day's events. His face is bright red.

Barik notices your face. "Bad day, sir?" {Firan}

Lidanos just LOOKS at Barik.

You leave the guard room.

PART X: FOLLOW-UP

[Anarinuell: Civic-Center Square where Dursun and Taria are talking]

Lidanos sees his guards and approaches. He seems a bit calmer than he was before, but he has that harried look of stress that forms waves upon his forehead.

Taria looks up to Lidanos and nods. "Commander."

The sun starts to set on the Firan lands.

Firans settle in for their evening meals.

Lidanos says in Firan, "You two did a good job today."

Taria takes off her iron helmet.

Lidanos smiles for the first time in a few hours. "Taria, you did well. Thank you for handling Lady Ibania so skilfully." {Firan}

Taria removes her helmet and tucks it under her arm. "It may cause a political incident, Commander, but I was not thinking of that at the time." {Firan}

Taria sighs.

Lidanos says in Firan, "You did your duty. It took great conviction to do what you did."

Lidanos says in Firan, "For one, though she may not know it, Lady Ibania could have found herself in the middle of a very dangerous melee."

Lidanos says in Firan, "For two, you ordered her back with the rest of the crowd, and she is legally bound to obey a guard's orders."

Taria says in Firan, "Yes, she is not known for being skilled with a weapon."

Lidanos says in Firan, "It is the duty given to us by the Ranivor to keep order and protect lawful citizens."

Taria says in Firan, "And even the unlawful ones sometimes."

Lidanos says in Firan, "Sometimes."

Taria says in Firan, "I suppose I shall have to report this incident to my father, for it is only a matter of time before Ibania will try to have your rank markings stripped from you. . ."

Lidanos says in Firan, "As I told her, let her take it up with the Ranivor."

Dursun stands beside Taria..

Taria says in Firan, "What was that all about anyhow, Commander?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "Which?"

Taria says in Firan, "The young man, his arrest. I want to know what I got myself into trouble about."

Taria chuckles.

Dursun eyes Taria with a slight grin, regarding the Commander.

Lidanos says in Firan, "The woman, Asala, is an admitted whore. The boy we arrested, Coran, has a record. He assaulted Sentry Barik. He's known to be a hot head. Lady Sarcia complained to me that he was harassing her."

Taria says in Firan, "He has outstanding warrants then?"

Taria nods understandingly.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Barik forgot to file the charges. I had to release Coran."

Lidanos says in Firan, "The whore got knocked up and she is claiming that it's Coran's kid. I think she's scamming him."

Dursun looks at the Commander, 'To what gain, sir?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "For a father for the kid?"

Dursun nods slightly, 'makes sense, though I don't think Coran would would have enough brains to stay with her even if it was his kid."

Taria looks confused. "Commander, my firan, as you know, is not very good -- what was it that prompted this arrest in particular, in the middle of the market?"

Lidanos shrugs, "She's a Bonduin refugee, an ex-slave. She says prostitution is all she knows. She gets pregnant, and sees her whore days as numbered. What Jonik wants a pregnant whore?" {Firan}

Lidanos nods repeatedly to Taria. "I'm getting there." {Firan}

Dursun nods again in response to Lidanos.

Taria shakes her head, letting her hair fall down loose around her shoulders. "Of course." {Firan}

Lidanos says in Firan, "Coran falls in love with the con artist woman. One day Coran walks in on her with a customer."

Dursun frowns, "Is Coran that stupid?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "She's all beat up. The customer -- a guy named Shorister -- says he didn't do it. Says he was trying to help her. I dunno. Maybe he's lying. Maybe he's not -- Asala could be trying to cover up that she's still turning tricks."

Dursun says in Firan, "Not to know that his so called love is a whore?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "Coran is really stupid. He /knows/ she's a whore. He doesn't care. He insists he knows the kid is his too. Dumb boy. Naive and young."

Lidanos adds as an aside, "He says he doesn't believe in the army, or violence." {Firan}

Lidanos shakes his head in dismissal.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Anyway, I couldn't figure out who was lying or who was telling the truth, so I ordered all of them to stay away from each other."

Dursun hrmphs at the thought, "I actually saw him crying on that bench over there.." He gestures, "What kind of man with honor weeps in public?" He scoffs.

Lidanos says in Firan, "The Ranivor backed that order."

Taria looks up at Lidanos, and flicks her wrist at the air -- an old Ticanee gesture that indicates 'the matter is then resolved or entirely clear'.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Today, they walked up to me hand in hand. I would have just fined them or something, but then he started chasing the other one, Shorister, around the city. Shorister complained. Coran persisted. I placed him under arrest and ordered him to drop his spear and he refused."

Dursun tries to find a merchant to sell him some iron helmets.

Dursun cannot find any merchant willing to sell him any iron helmets at this hour.

Lidanos says in Firan, "And the rest is history."

Taria says in Firan, "Trying to do what to Shorister, is this Coran?"

Taria says in Firan, "Revenge?"

Dursun snorts..

Lidanos says in Firan, "I have no idea. I think he was asking her if he knew where is this girl who disappeared. Ashnara, the one the heralds yap about."

Eliana comes in from the east. Eliana tries to find a merchant to sell her some raspberries. Eliana cannot find any merchant willing to sell her any raspberries at this hour.

Dursun shakes his head slightly, "The boys needs some sense beaten into him.. or one day he's gonna wind up laying face down in the dirt."

Eliana makes a face. "Too much time spent in prayer.." she mutters to herself. {Firan}

Taria looks up to see Eliana.

Taria says in Firan, "Commander, it is enough for me, what you say. May I be excused?"

Lidanos says, "I did find the body of a young woman who looks uncannily like Ashnara, though. It's not her, I'm pretty sure. The body was missing some piercings and tattoos that were unmistakable. But the body ... the body was rather bad off." {Firan}

Lidanos nods to Taria, saluting.

Lidanos says in Firan, "Excellent work today."

Lidanos says in Firan, "I think the Ranivor would be pleased."

Dursun looks to Taria, "It was good to see you again Taria." He says, smiling.

Dursun says in Firan, "And, thanks for the help today."

Taria bows and walks towards Eliana.

Dursun turns back to face Lidanos.

Dursun mutters, "I sure wish I could find Lady Ristana."

Dursun rubs his shoulder where Coarn had grabbed it, "My cousin is hard to get a hold of sometimes.." He says with a chuckles.

Taria says in Firan, "Eliana, might you join me for a meal?"

Lidanos says in Firan, "Ristana? Who is that?"

Dursun looks suprised almost, "lady Ristana.. Clan Leader, Golden Dragon Clan?"

Ibania comes in from the north.

Eliana looks up at Taria. "I guess.."

Lidanos looks confused, 'Lord Judano is the clan leader of the Gold Dragon..." {Firan}

Ibania walks in and frowns at the crowd, staying towards the edges closer to the shadows.

Taria says, "Um, I think you've misread something."
Taria says, "Ristana is just the head of a noble family."
Dursun nods and feels VERY stupid..
Lidanos says, "A lot to know. Don't worry about it. =)"
Dursun says, "I guess that what I get for being a newbie, huh? ;)"
Lidanos grins

Dursun lowers his head, shaking it, "I'm sorry Commander.. I've been out of the loop for too long I guess."

Ibania tries to find a merchant to sell her some raspberries.

Ibania cannot find any merchant willing to sell her any raspberries at this hour.

Dursun says in Firan, "My mind is a mess right now."

Dursun looks up, spying Ibania in the distance..

Ibania sighs softly.

A breeze blows across the Firan lands, making fires everywhere flicker and dim.

Dursun looks back over to Lidanos, "May I be excused for a moment Commander? ..I need to straighten my head out."

Lidanos nods and salutes.

Lidanos says in Firan, "I'm going down to the Barnacle for some booze. I'm off duty as of now."

Dursun walks off down the walkway..

Dursun looks over his shoulder, "I'll join you as soon as I can Commander." Dursun heads south.

[trek to the Barnacle Inn]

Yelda greets Lidanos. "Welcome t' the Barn'cle Inn." {Firan}

Lidanos nods tersely to Yelda, basically pushing past her and finding a seat.
