Log: Discovering The Cure And Plan
From FiranMUX
Waywatchers Tent Interior
The clean and organized interior of the waywatchers tent. Clean, dry
and simple... This affords few luxuries for the common folk, but for a
true woodsman its quite sufficient.
Contents: 2 stuffed tomatoes Eriden Laurelia Marsalos Captured Aglaia Obvious exits: Out <O>
Karana makes her way into the tent, peeking around, putting on a warm smile as she
does so. "Hello? I understand we have new friends here?" *Firan*
The kids peer at Eriden but they're too busy scarfing to really care. Aglaia nods
quickly. "It's t'rages then. What we do for it don't work all the time, it's-..." She
looks up, starting at the sound of a voice. The kids start as well, abandoning the
food to skitter back from the tent flaps.
Laurelia glances up at the arrival of Karana, looking mildly perturbed as Aglaia
clams up once again and the children skitter. "It's alright, this is Mother Karana, a
very find healer who is trying to help find out the cure for this disease as well.
Please continue speaking about it, we would all like to hear what to do even if it
only works sometimes." *Firan*
Eriden scoots to one side and smiles up at Karana, "Hi." He looks to Aglaia, "SHe's a
friend, a really good one. It's alright." *Firan*
Karana flops down, rather unceremoniously near the front, not moving in. "Goodness.
It was rather scary out there, wasn't it?" She reaches into her bag and pulls out a
flute and a doll, putting the doll in her lap, and running her fingers over the
flute. "I am Mother Karana. You can call me Mother, Karana, Mama, or, well, anything
really at this point." She smiles softly and motions to the food. "Oh, please eat,
darlings, please. I'm sorry if I startled you." She dips her head to Laurelia,
respectfully with a warm smile to Eriden. "Your Highness," to Laurelia, obviously,
"Would you mind if I played a bit while the children ate? I will be quiet as they
chat with you, but it might help them feel better." No, she's not here just to
eavesdrop, not at all. She gives Laurelia a slight nod, with an apologetic look.
- Firan*
Aglaia licks her lips, watching Karana as she nods to Eriden. "'kay." She takes a
breath, looking back at Laurelia. "Zeema's the one found it. You gotta give em blood,
it's the only way. You gotta make cuts and do it that way, cause they can't drink
it." She holds up her injured arms, showing them. "But...it's weird, it don't always
work. Mine don't. Only a couple people's worked...there was one lady whose worked
real well, but she ain't been around lately."
Laurelia nods towards Karana at the offer of flute playing. "Please, it might help to
relax the other children." at Aglaia's words she tries to keep the distaste from her
expression, focusing on the questions that need to be asked. "Was this lady a real
lady or just another woman, I'd like to figure out why she was special. Instead of...
having everyone in camp try this." she glances to Karana, the healing expert for
confirmation that this is a viable option and then back to Aglaia. "Does it work
quickly, and thank you for helping us out Aglaia. It's very good of you." *Firan*
Karana tilts her head a little bit, blinking slightly. She gives Laurelia a mute nod,
encouraging further questioning, and she lifts the flute to her lips, playing very
softly.
Eriden smiles at Aggy reassuringly. "Aglaia is a great kid, smart too." He finds a
couple pieces of straw that attached themselves to his tunic and starts braiding it
together to make a little circlet. Insta-bracelets for some of the children. *Firan*
Aglaia shrugs her bony shoulder at Laurelia. "I dunno. She was kinda older...wore
lotsa griffon stuff. Real pretty...she coulda been a real Lady! I'd know her if I saw
her, but I dunno her name. Zeema said there was only certain people it'd work with,
like that lady. But they was real hard to find down here." She then nods, quicklike.
"It works real quick, but you gotta do it soon. They'll die if they don't get in five
days."
Karana lowers the flute from her lips a bit and she murmurs softly. "Darling... can
you describe her at all? Did she say much? Hmmm.. pretty you say? Like really pretty?
Maybe with long pretty blonde hair and green eyes?" *Firan*
Laurelia says "Thank you Aglaia. That will help greatly as we try to figure this
out." though already her thoughts are turning as she tries to recall if she's ever
seen a woman in camp wearing lots of griffon stuff that's... pretty and older. "If
nothing else, Mother Karana... I will try to help one of the children, to see if it
works." she straightens her back with this announcement as if steeling herself for
the possibility. "I would prefer if we could find the woman first though, but I do
not think we have much time to think it over." *Firan*
"Uh-uh." Aglaia shakes her head. "She had black hair and kinda greeny-blue eyes. She
looked like nice, like someone's mama." She looks back at Laurelia, sitting up. "You
gotta make some cuts, see? Like mine. And like...put them together and tie em for a
while. That's what Zeema did."
Eriden isn't thrilled by this plan, but it's not like they've got lots of options.
"Aggy, has a boy's blood ever helped?" He glances to Karana and Laur, "I'll give it a
shot if you wish it." *Firan*
<OOC> Laurelia is sure the visual of these cuts is enough for Laurelia to understand.
I as her player however am... clueless.
<OOC> Marsalos laughs. She means, just a cut along the arm, on the sick person and
the well person. Press them together so the blood mingles. Tie.
Karana nods once and considers for a moment. "Darlings, I'm going to poke my head
outside for just a moment, but then I will be right back in, all right? Oh,
sweetling, I wasn't here for the whole thing, but did this woman live in Ellish or
did she come new when all of us came?" She shakes her head to Eriden. "It's a huge
risk, if we cannot find the nature of this woman's special touch..." She bites her
lip. *Firan*
<OOC> Karana says, "Like blood brothers"
Laurelia isn't one of the darlings no doubt but she nods to Karana. "Please see if
you can find this woman. Otherwise, well Mother Soli has shown us what sacrifices she
makes for us. Perhaps it is time to show her I understand that sometimes sacrifices
must be made personally as well." *Firan*
"I dunno," Aglaia answers Eriden, shaking her head. "But you gotta be careful. Zeema
said if they spit on you, you'll get it." She shudders a bit. She looks up at Karana.
"Naw, she was here a while. Before you all came."
A courier takes Karana's message and runs off.
Message to Argin, Tezzer, and Yacen:
>> Prince General, Lord Centurion, Captain Yacen... we need to
>> find a pretty older woman, with black hair and green blue
>> eyes. She is possibly wearing a lot of Griffon things,
>> though she is from Ellish, not a new person. She may have
>> the key... and the infected only have five days from the
>> time of infection. We are going to try other options as
>> well, but... we need to find this woman as quickly as
>> possible.
Eriden chews on his lower lip for a moment. "If we can cover their mouths with
something... maybe a cloth so the can't really spit." He shrugs a little helplessly,
"I'm no healer, but if the spit is what spreads it then maybe binding wounds together
isn't that risky." He smiles weakly at Laurelia, "Soliana would say the same thing, I
think." *Firan*
<OOC> Marsalos says, "I'm going to have to buzz off quite soon. What are you guys
going to do about this? :)"
<OOC> Laurelia says, "Waiting to see if Karana found anything out about the woman.
Otherwise, put a cloth over one of the children's face to keep it from spitting and
try the blood thing. So says Laurelia at least."
<OOC> Karana says, "Ok, one sec"
The messenger whispers to you, "Prince General Argin Elianik said to tell you, at
Firan time: 08:41:25 AM on Sun Sep 12, in the year 43 A.U.: This is a hostile city
filled with tens of thousands of people, Captain. Any number of women could fit that
description. Do you not have anything else to go on?" Messenger for Karana has left. You pay the messenger 10 steni(s). What message would you like delivered to Argin? (use 'abort' to cancel)
A courier takes Karana's message and runs off.
Message to Argin:
>> I am trying to narrow it down. The child says she looks like
>> she could be someone's mother.
<OOC> Eriden votes seeing if we can get a better discription, and hunt for this
woman. what sort of time do Dali and Rinzik have left?
<OOC> Eriden says, "pretend I can spell"
<OOC> Karana says, "Ok, nothing. So, yeah, I will try mine too, and if none of us
work, then we have a search party. I fit most of the description, except, the you
know, being here part... *L*"
<OOC> Marsalos thinks Rinzik has about one RL day left (i.e. by the end of the tour
tomorrow). Dalinuel slightly longer. I'll page Laurelia and karana so you know how to
RP it.
<OOC> Eriden leaves it up to Karana if Eri does the blood letting
<OOC> Karana says, "Yeah, if neither of us work, she can, just so we have
/something/; to go on"
Marsalos pages: Your blood unfortunately will do nothing.
<OOC> Karana says, "And if they don't work, it's going to be an all out search and I
hope and pray they take my res day request late ;)"
<OOC> Marsalos says, "Karana and Laurelia, both @check luck at 8 please."
<OOC: ROLL> Laurelia rolls her Luck at difficulty 8 and gets NO successes.
<OOC> Laurelia says, "Oh it figures. *kicks dice*"
<OOC> Laurelia says, "Oh and could we ever manage an actual count on the # of kids
here?"
<OOC: ROLL> Karana rolls her Luck at difficulty 8 and gets NO successes.
<OOC> Karana laughs.
<OOC> Eriden says, "knowing how many are sick and how many are not would help too"
<OOC> Eriden says, "or, displaying symptoms, I guess"
Marsalos pages: You try to keep the kid from spitting on you but it doesn't work. You
get spat at. Please RP that. Over the course of the next IC day you'll begin to feel
a bit icky, like you're coming down with a cold.
<OOC> Marsalos says, "There are about 6 kids in here...I think :) As for how many
displaying symptoms, let's call it two :P The one Laurelia tries and the one Karana
tries."
<OOC> Karana laughs.
<OOC> Karana says, "Eriden is trying too!"
<OOC> Marsalos says, "Laurelia, you're allowing Eriden to go for it?"
<OOC> Laurelia says, "No. He's not female and there's no use risking him till they
know if either of themselves worked."
<OOC> Eriden thumbs up
<OOC> Laurelia says, "(And Soliana would be upset if I let you get sick on my watch)"
<OOC> Eriden grins. she really would
<OOC> Marsalos says, "Okay! So both of you now know what happens. RP on. :)"
<OOC> Laurelia says, "Thank you! Are we like skipping ahead IC hours or just like
doing the cutting and binding now. (Honestly I amsleepy bear with the idiot me)" Karana wipes her arm a bit, frowning a little bit at the spittle that she quickly
tries to hide as well. She bandages Laurelia and herself up, carefully, shaking her
head slightly. "Darling..." She murmurs to Agaila. "How quickly will we knowif it
works?" *Firan* <OOC> Marsalos says, "Whatever you guys decide to RP"
Laurelia too seems to be hit with a small amount of spittle, something she wipes away
while Karana is busy bandaging her arm. The child, and of course it's a fully Firan
child, is looked over as if the cure might somehow be miraculous. Seeing no change
she too glances to Aglaia for word of how long it could possibly take to see any
signs of improvement.
Karana shakes her head a bit. "Mine did not work, your Highness..." She pauses,
murmuring. "Did you... get contaminated as well?" She furrows her brow a bit. "I have
a thought. The sources this evening discussed a Ticanee man, and encampments of
Ticanee... it may be that this woman is among them. I will start getting search
parties organized... we have to find her. Did the child say anything else? I
apologize for barging in." *Firan*
Laurelia gestures towards the child that she mixed her blood with. After a few hours
have passed at least. "This child is getting better, slowly it seems but I can tell a
difference." the question of contamination has her expression blanking for a moment
before she nods slightly. "Possibly, I cannot be sure. With this child looking
better, I hope that possibly I cannot get it." *Firan*
Karana nods once and lets out a deep breath. "Good... oh praise the gods. Your
Highness, please, we need to get you to treat the two that are the worst off...
Commander Rinzik and Brother Dalinuel... I know it is a great deal to ask of you, and
I promise all safety precautions will be taken... please... I beg of you... we need
to get them treated. Commander Rinzik is almost at five days already. Even if your
blood cannot cure him... even if it just slows it." *Firan*
Laurelia pushes to her feet. "As I said earlier Mother Karana, Soli shows us her
sacrifices daily by allowing us to live upon her back. This I can at least aid in
even if, I find the cure distasteful." she straightens her tunic and adjusts her
armor. "I will do this with both of the sick men and the child that you attempted to
treat as well. As soon as possible." *Firan*
<OOC> Laurelia says, "I assume we can just handwave the npc kid as getting treated
and such. But Mars said to heal Dalinuel and Rinzik he or Steph need to be there. So
it will have to be tomorrow."
<OOC> Karana says, "Ok"
<OOC> Karana says, "I won't be around during the day, so I'll make sure that
everyone's aware that you're going to be trying this, and I'm still going to start a
search party for that other woman."
Karana nods a little getting to her feet, offering her hand as well. Her brow furrows
in concern and she nods. "Thank you. I will consider it a personal debt to you, even
if you do not. Should you ever need anything of me..." She motions. "Shall we then?"
- Firan*
Laurelia doesn't accept the hand up, moving to her feet under her own power. Though
there is a nod of respect for Karana. "Yes, lets get to it. The sooner done the
sooner we see if this words upon others besides these children." *Firan*
Messenger for Karana approaches Karana and makes a delivery.
The messenger whispers to you, "Prince General Argin Elianik said to tell you, at
Firan time: 08:55:49 AM on Sun Sep 12, in the year 43 A.U.: Well, have the word
spread, but do not advertise that this disease may be fatal. It will damage morale." Messenger for Karana has left.
A courier takes Karana's message and runs off.
Message to Argin and Tezzer:
>> We have a temporary solution. The cure seems to be blood as
>> well. Some people's blood has a curative effect on it. Lady
>> Laurelia has healed a child. Obviously, this is not a
>> particularly... wise long term solution. I believe the woman
>> we seek may be in the Ticanee camps... and there may be
>> others within our own camp that can heal it with their blood
>> as well. It requires the donor to cut their arm, as well as
>> the recipiant and tie their blood together for a few
>> moments. ((like blood brothers sort of thing))
