LURASHAR: Place of the Three Rivers
Lurashar is rumored to be the place of origin of the Firan people. At the very least, it is the oldest known settlement of the Firans. Situated at the joining of the three great rivers (the Ani, the Ems, and the Uell), it is a center for trade and culture. Lurashar is a wealthy city, and it is well-populated. It is also legendary for its religious tolerance. Some say it tolerates everything -- too much -- and thus it has a reputation for hedonism. The city is divided into various districts primarily by function: the boat district, the temple district, the market district, and the residential district. Surrounding the city are miles and miles of farmlands and very small villages whose agriculture supports the people of the city. Serving as a carrier of goods is a great source of income for the Lurasharians and so they are known to charge tolls to other clans for using their waterways. It is within the boundaries of the Eagle Clan.
Lurashar is a sophisticated city with people who have a taste for finery and ornamental goods. Gold and glass-works are major markets in Lurashar. As a trade center, Lurashar is known for its peaceful coexistence with people from all different regions. The main focus of Lurashar's temple district is an enormous stone dome temple devoted to the pantheon of Firan Gods. This resplendent temple is made of marble and ornamented with gold and colored glass. The ceilings and the walls depict stories and myths of the religion by way of painted murals.
The river boat district has a rather seedy reputation. During the day it's a scurry of activity, but at night this is a place of great indulgence. Common activities for people in the river boat district include: drinking, carousing, gambling, barroom brawls, and illegal endeavors. Lurashar is also well known for having the most lurid brothels in all of the Firan realms. The market district of Lurashar is closely intertwined with the river district but is much safer to visit at night. Consisting primarily of shops and foreign merchants to sell their wares and services. The residential district in Lurashar boasts of wealthy and modest homes, but it is also the home of a luxurious palace from which the clan's leaders rule when they are in the city.
