Family
Birth Family
She was born Melani Oshta, though equally a Teranzik on her father's side. She is Taria Oshta's fifth child, not counting her deceased adopted older sister Lilana, which puts her somewhere near the middle of the birth order: Ojitar, Judanus, Taleena, Mateo, Melani, Empyrean, Tanya, Octavian, Arianna, Decimus, Urtenus.
The Panther Tribe
During the time just before the Great War, the Shamibelians exterminated much of the Ticanee tribes, some were lost forever and some were just so decimated that few people remained from them. One such tribe and survivor was Torvahl, of the Panther Tribe. After the death of the Dolo Oshta (leader of the Wolf Tribe), Torvahl married his widow Velani, and served as Clan Leader, or Oshta, for the Ticanee clan for many years. Unfortunately, he had only one child to carry his blood, Vahlon, and through misfortunte and circumstance, Vahlon also only had one heir through his marriage to Princess Inaya Elianik, Prince Torianos. The panther blood limped along for three generations and had become of another clan entirely. Chimera.
Melani and Torianos's betrothal was announced on her twelfth birthday, and they began a long courtship after her Ceremony of Souls, which was to culminate in a marriage August 5, in the year 37 A.U. However, instead of marriage, the wedding resulted in riots and bloodshed as the people objected to then Prince Torianos marrying a savage with tattoos on her face. Melani has a solitary flame tattooed over her upper and lower lips so that it takes shape when her mouth is closed (which is not with exceptional frequency), and they objected to Princess HotLips, and her Ticanee cooties in the Palace. Violence erupted in a wave of what some would later call and irrational rage. The marriage was called off (see speeches below).
Melani was finally married to Torianos on Aug 14, in the year 38 A.U. after a surprise speech made by Clan Leader Diamia IstaNydiam, giving Melani the marriage prize that Diamia had won in the Festival last. It was done in Cockatrice Clan fashion, with neither the bride, groom, nor anyone really save for Diamia, knowing of her intentions. Due possibly to the surprise nature of the wedding, or perhaps the backing of the Gods by being the holder of a marriage prize, there were no riots this time, and Princess Melani, AKA Princess HotLips, became an Elianik and moved into the Palace.
Children
On April 30, in the year 39 A.U., Torianos and Melani welcomed their first heir into the world. Lady Lilah was born in the wee hours of the morning, and despite the stress of the Antonian Apostasy, was born healthy and loud. She is the first panther daughter in several generations, though both say she takes after her wolf grandmother, Taria, in volume if nothing else.
On January 31, 40 A.U., Torianos and Melani welcomed their second child into the world. Lady Phoebe followed her sister's lead, and arrived just after midnight, and while her sister was healthy and loud, Phoebe is just healthy and big. She's a large, strong, and fussy baby. Melani is trying to teach her to be loud instead. Oshta's don't do whiny and this kid is going to have to snap out of it!
On December 1, 40 A.U., The third daughter was born, Lady Elsabet Elikista. She's big. Healthy. Loud. Looks like her father except for having green eyes... and is the first of the panther cubs to have freckles. If she didn't have freckles, she might be a lost cause to Melani. This, like Lilah's birth, was a long stressful pregnancy, this time the stress was brought on by Melani who conned her father and husband into letting her go to the Nekaht lands on a diplomatic mission which turned out to be long and stressful. It's the Nekaht's fault her child is not a boy, since she probably had to put all her energy into just surviving at all under all that stress. Or it might be Taleena's fault, who has jinxed Melani into having only girls by being mad everytime Melani has a girl, and then having yet another son for spite! *mutter*
The Chimera Clan
In October 09, in the year 39 A.U., Torianos was coronated Clan Leader of the Chimera Clan, and their little family joined the Chimera Clan -- much to Melani's dismay -- and the Elikista Family. Princesses became Ladies, and the Prince, a Clan Leader.
