Vocation: Slave
Age: 22

Parents: Clan Leader Taria Oshta and Lord Viceroy Taleo Teranzik
Traits: haughty demeanor, glares at Dyanna whenever she can get away with it
Clan/Race: Chimera Clan - Firan
Official Statement
My name is Melani. I was born the daughter of the late Clan Leader Taria and Viceroy Taleo. I was a Princess and remain the wife of a Clan Leader, and I'm not about to let this traitorous bitch turn us all against one another. If anyone should be under suspicion, it should be her. Everyone knows that Dyanna thinks freezing people to death is a wonderful punishment for slaves--wasn't Hralib's body found frozen? Write THAT down and tell it to Tatomir, why don't you?
Background
Melani and Empyrean were frequently driven to heights of fury whenever they saw Hralib, drinking from a goblet made of their father Taleo's skull. There is no doubt that Empyrean wanted him dead and the reminder of the last sacrifice, at the Night of Obala's Pride, probably sent him over the edge. Or Melani could have done it for the same reason.
Relationships
- Torianos -- Melani's husband from before the Fall, she is terrified he will find out she is pregnant by Hralib
- Sarina -- Melani's trusted former body guard, and close friend.
- Empyrean -- Melani's brother.
- Hralib -- Melani's master. He's dead now.
- Jalil, Rodiste, Orsatos, Perdita, Teonia, Brizo and Emma -- Hralib's other slaves.

Melani Round One
Round One Reveal
Jalil suspected that his daughter Emma was pregnant with Hralib's haffie monstrosity, and he swore that he'd never let her give birth to such an abomination, even if he had to force her to drink a little wolfsbane and abort the child.
Empyrean has never been a great warrior or anything--how would he have possibly overpowered Hralib?
Melani thinks that Orsatos has always been loyal to the Princes, having tutored them for many years at the palace, and that he was just pretending to be a good slave so as to avoid suspicion when he dispatched Hralib one day.
Rodiste always resented Hralib for suggesting that Ruffialo breed him to Anorna to create some nice docile Hydran slave babies. Although Rodiste seemed to have started to accept his role in life, it could have been a sham, and he might have just been waiting to kill Hralib for the insult to his Hydran honor.
Jalil has said, on numerous occasions, that he'd rather be dead than a slave, but that Hralib promised to kill his children if he took his own life.
Round One Conceal
Melani swore vengeance upon Hralib when he allowed her mother and father to be sacrificed to Obala after the invasion.
Melani was a hard slave for Hralib to break, and he had to sell her husband Torianos in order for her to settle down. She never forgave him for that, and often said that she'd see him dead for it. Even so, Hralib had a supernatural pull over women. Melani lamented often about her inability to just take a dagger and kill Hralib with it when he came near her.
Melani purchased a great number of fertility potions from Anorna.
Melani is pregnant by Hralib and she is afraid that if Torianos finds out, he'll do something rash!
Melani gave Hralib a vial of dark liquid the Night of Obala's Pride, but he asked for it.
Empyrean had been using forged permits to stalk Hralib and try to catch him at a time when his eye was not on the Taleo-Skull goblet. Empyrean kept a keen eye on Hralib during the Night of Obala's Pride. When he was sure Hralib was busy, Empyrean took some of his rope with him to the Great Library, thinking that he might need to climb in a window in order to steal his father's skull for proper funeral rites. But Hralib left soon after Empyrean did. Melani is afraid that he caught Empyrean and something bad happened.
Hralib gave Lainath permission to cut down the Ticanee totem poles, when he was clearing land with which to woo Tabitha. The Ticanee slaves were horrified, and wanted Hralib and Lainath dead for this offense.
Lainath has been chopping up the totem poles for firewood, and the Ticanee slaves are up in arms over it. One of the totem poles went mysteriously missing.
Round One Props
- rake or shovel
- wedding necklace
Melani Round Two
Round Two Reveal
Torianos has been secretly burning the bodies of human sacrifices to Obala with proper Firan funeral rites, and that is why he often has ashes upon him.
Hralib wanted to marry Tabitha off to one of his old friends, but she got it in her head that she was of the new 'liberal' generation, and was in love with Lainath Samiroon, who through a convoluted set of legal maneuvers, is a Shamibelian Warrior with some Firan blood. Hralib said that he'd let her marry Lainath "over my dead body," so it seems she gave him his wish!
Hralib was trying to get his wife Nobifa pregnant, but did not trust the fertility potions that she was taking, so he commanded Melani to acquire some for him.
Melani knows that she went to Anorna to get the fertility potions that Hralib asked for. What if the woman put something in those potions?
Nobifa made a very public display of her upset that she hadn't yet gotten pregnant by Hralib, and she blamed his attentions to Throgana for it.
Melani frequently tended to Nobifa for Hralib and knows that Nobifa had invited Malentez to make a challenge for her hand in marriage, but that he thought it was best to wait until after Hralib had finished clearing her land and set her up properly in Anarinuell.
Inaya was very upset with the way Hralib mistreated her son Torianos and her daughter-in-law, Melani. She's a very protective mother--she would kill to protect her son.
Vitara Pevifa and Hralib had recently had bitter arguments over Fara's enslavement, because Pevifa does not want her freed.
While it's probably true that Sarina knew she had a better chance of killing Hralib without suspicion immediately falling upon her now that she's no longer his slave, Sarina is unlikely to sacrifice Melani and Hralib's other Firan slaves just to get revenge.
Melani knows that Sarina was following -her- the night of Obala's pride, not Hralib, and it's a good thing, too, because Sarina saved her from freezing to death.
When Melani was locked up last night in Zin's Temple, she looked out the window and saw Fara and Throgana burying something at 2:30AM.
Round Two Conceal
Sarina was, up until just yesterday, Hralib's slave and their relationship was troubled. Melani is very worried that Sarina may have killed Hralib.
Melani knows that Sarina did not want Hralib to sell her, that she had fallen slightly under his sway, and that she exhibited signs of heartbreak at being sold away like chattel. She may have felt betrayed enough to kill him.
Sarina and Throgana hated one another, and often got into fist fights. It's one of the reasons Sarina was sold--maybe she decided to get even with Throgana for getting rid of her.
The real reason Hralib sold Sarina was because she had been helping Melani and Torianos meet together, against Hralib's orders. Hralib said he would not tolerate this in his slaves, would not have someone who betrayed him in this way. Perhaps, knowing that Melani got her into such trouble, she would not feel bad about endangering Melani's life.
Sarina had taken a form of Endab that she learned from the Bonduins and turned it into a new martial arts form with the use of torches. Wasn't Hralib burned on his face and hands?
Melani knows Sarina stole Hralib's keyring so as to let her out of the Temple of Zin. Oddly, the key to that temple was missing from the keyring, so Sarina had to go get Gilin to pick the lock.
Empyrean, Melani, Perdita, Sarina and Feathyr stole the last remaining totem pole before Lainath could turn it into firewood. They've stashed it in the catacombs, with the dead bodies. They intend to kidnap Caree the Slaver, hijack her ship, and smuggle it out, tonight! The totem pole's safety is far more important than human lives.
Round Two Props
Round Two Additional Goals
- Get Caree's trust so that it will be easier to kidnap her.
- Find out how much space her boat will hold, for smugging the totem pole out.
- Keep any of the Shamibelians from finding the totem pole and desecrating it.
Melani Round Three
Round Three Reveal
When Sarina and Gilin broke Melani out of the Temple of Zin, the three of them dug up what Fara and Throgana had buried. They found an open bottle of Brizo's wine, and Tatomir's bloody sacrificial dagger. But they did not find Hralib's armor, his keyring, or any of his skull cups. Now why would Throgana and Fara want to bury things like that?
Jalil once loved Throgana. The idea that she could choose a goat like Hralib over a Clan Leader like Jalil is something that his pride probably couldn't take. Is it a wonder that Jalil might try to kill her and her lover?
Jalil managed to sneak away and see his daughter Emma at 8pm the night that Hralib died, before the Night of Obala's Pride. The two of them were seen locked in conspiratorial discussion.
