MELIHA

This obituary is of the life of two meses; twins born on June 19, 7 A.U. Born into the Griffon clan, Meliha and Sahla were separated by their parents in the hopes that each girl would survive rather then having to kill one over the other. The one named Meliha was given over to the Chimerans. There, she trained in the arts of pottery and planned to become an initiate of Kamnestra. She was captured by Shamibelians during the Air Raid of 24 A.U. and later rescued by Centurion Zaqik Bayzli during the war of Ellishian War of 31. A.U. It was right before her capture that she was brought to the Temple of Unot, a victim of the fire that had already killed her noble sponsor, Lord Arius Iberik.

During the Cockatrice Crisis of 32 A.U., the mes calling herself Meliha announced herself as a prophet of Lord Unot, claiming he favored her with marks of silver lips and fingernails. Her message was simple and distinct. The gods were angry that Firans were allowing twins to survive and claiming positions of power in the government. Lord Unot wanted all twins dead and killed in a ritual fashion. Her speeches and proclamations gathered a large following that spread nation wide. Soon, children who were claimed as twins were found dead with their hearts torn out and adults were hunted as accusers announced them as twins. She was soon put under protective custody of the Chimera Clan, and then transferred to the Republic Jails.

During her time within the jails, she was interrogated by Captain Ronti Garkansen who later found out some rather interesting details about her life in Ellish, including the fact that she kept pure for sacrifice at a later time. It was this information that caused her downfall as General Firuell placed charges against the mes claiming to be Meliha with the murder of Lord Arius Iberik, conspiracy to incite riots, conspiracy to commit murder, and the murder of Mes Meliha, her twin. It was during investigations that Ronti discovered that Meliha was in fact seen to have engaged in sexual relations with Lord Arius Iberik before the date of the fire at the Griffon Wing Insula. General Firuell had the mes claiming to be Meliha proclaim her purity with emphatic assertiveness before Captain Ronti Garkansen called for the the witness he had found. Judge Lady Akiva Ista Aldrik proclaimed the mes guilty on the counts of the murders and ordered her execution, proclaiming her to be the twin of Meliha in both judgments. Captain Ronti Garkansen volunteered for the duty and was the one that slit her throat in front of the jails. It was held there so she could "die in front of the damage her followers had caused" (General Firuell). The date of the trial and execution was October 7, 33 A.U.

Sahla, the name of Meliha's twin used before her capture, was given her funeral on November 1, 33 A.U. The reason for this was stated by Lady Akiva Ista Aldrik when she said "I sent her to Unot for /her/ to be judged.'" The true Meliha was most likely killed at the same time of Lord Arius Iberik and received no formal funeral.
