Overview

My mother was a priestess of Eesha, so it's no wonder that I'm an expert in the ways of women, and in the ways of love. She wanted me to become a priest, but I've never been good with my letters, and besides--the hands-on sort of Eeshan counseling was much more my style. I know how to massage tired muscles after a hard day, how to ease worries with a sympathetic ear, and with all the wars our clans fight with the goats and each other... let's just say there are a lot of grieving widows out there who need comfort.

I moved to Anarinuell when I was 15, seeking my fortune, and I found it as head towel boy of the women's baths. You know, the women, they tip nicely if you're clever about it. And don't kiss their hands in front of their husbands. It could get you hit, and you wouldn't want to mess up a handsome face with blood or broken noses now would you? That almost happened once, when an indiscretion with a certain woman got back to her husband... bad scene, I'm sure you can imagine. But in a way, that was kind of a turning point for me. High Priestess Isa gave me a new lease on life. I've always believed I had a gift with women, and I firmly believe these were gifts of Eesha... after all, how else can you explain dashing good looks that are the envy of noblemen everywhere, or the way women just seem to fall into my bed? Well, Isa, she set me straight a bit--confirmed what I believed about my gifts, but gave me a bit of a purpose. She believes--and I agree with her--that my purpose in this world is to spread Eesha's love. And gods be good, aren't there a lot of women out there who could use a little bit of that in their lives?

Take my wife, for instance. Yes, I'm married, although you won't always see me wearing the necklace. Several kids of our own now, too, but I'll get to that. Let's just say that she was a woman in need, and her reputation was about to be compromised. We found that we both had agreeable needs--she doesn't bother me about my line of work, as it were, and I'm another source of income in the house. And hey, who can argue with having a lovely woman in your bed every night, who asks for nothing? Yeah, I love her. But don't get me wrong--love isn't something exclusive, that you can just give to one person and that's it. There's all kinds of love under Eesha, and no matter how much of it you give to how many, you never run out of it.

These last few years have been hard, I'll admit. I've lost a lot of those I loved, whether to the Shamibelians during the Siege, or to the... let's just call it the petty games of nobles, shall we? No, I don't like politics very much, and I don't like most noblemen, either. The way they use up women, break them, and send them home crying and pregnant... well, that's where I come in, and I suppose it's job security, but there's times when it gets to be a bit much. And I'll be the first to admit I just don't have the wit or political bent to even try to play their games, although I've been known to take jobs for them--I'm quite the actor, you see. I haven't done that for a while though, not since one such job nearly got me in hot water with the Teranziks.

All in all though, it's come out well on the balance. I have a beautiful wife and beautiful kids--well, they're /ours/, would you expect anything less?--and even though we lost our daughter Calla in the Siege, the rest will grow up just as strong and handsome as their father. Isa also finally talked me into studying to become a priest of Eesha, and although it's hard work, I... well, I finally feel like I've got some direction in my life.

Recent History

Appearance

Although Menophis is getting on towards his middle years, age has not dimmed his stunning good looks... rather, it has lent an air of maturity to features that were once youthful and even boyish, despite his impressive physique. Nevertheless, he still looks handsome enough to have been kissed by the goddesses themselves, and from the way he often carries himself--he knows it. Across the right side of his face, a large brand runs from over his right eye down to the bottom of his cheek, in the shape of a T. His left hand appears mangled and crippled to the point where it is most likely unusable.

Personality & Beliefs

Vain, charming, and thinking himself a true ladies man, Menophis has something of a reputation in the city amongst the women of Anarinuell. To them, he's known as a sensual and attentive servant in the bath house who goes out of his way to please his patrons--in whatever way they wish to be pleased. Those few men who know him tend to find him floofy at best, and a threat to their marriage bed at worst. He takes pride in bringing pleasure and joy to women, but is upset by the thought of deliberately hurting them, and will go out of his way to avoid doing so--often ending up with a love life which would require trigonometry to diagram properly. He's devoted to his wife and family, but just as devoted to his belief that his beauty and skills are a gift from Eesha, and should be shared with anyone in need of love, affection, or comfort. Menophis abhors violence, but learned to his sorrow during the Shamibelian Siege that it's sometimes necessary to preserve the lives of those you love.
