Overview

Mermaids are thought to be a mythical creature that attend the god Zin. Sailors claim to have seen mermaids, but they are seldom believed. However, former Clan Leader Nydiam and his bastard half-brother Quonasi both claim to have seen one when they drunkenly stole a ferry and were nearly swept out to sea.

Merfolk

According to Zinnian lore, Mermaids and Mermen live deep in the ocean and have the torso of human beings, but the lower bodies of fish or whales. They are also thought to have extremely long lifespans but no one can establish if this is true. Zinnian priests claim to have found stories that feature some mermaids prominently, and by name including:

• The love story of Tristor and Elvina -- A tale of a young sailor who is saved by a mermaid who then falls in love with him and agrees to live as a human being ever after.
• Argente's Choice -- A story of a young mermaid who is forced to choose to save either the life of her daughter or her son.
• Plexipus and the Kraken -- A story of mermen heroism.
• Right Hand of God -- A story about a mermaid advisor to the king of the sea named Nivarpina.
