<movement deleted>

<OOC> Gennic says, "Ok. 10 minute break and then we'll get back to rp (I need to get up and move around a few.)"

Sharin is already back here when you all return. His hair is wild out about his head, wind whipped and resisting all attempts to bring it back down.

Gaddineez is here, standing not far from Hufimo and Lucia, but at the sound of a decent amount of people entering the area, the bonduin eyes each person that walks along with those dark black eyes of his, looking at them all curiously. Gaddineez has a spear held in his hand, his other hand idly rests upon the pommel of one of his swords on his sword belt

Hufimo lifts a brow, looking at Gaddineez, "You master the spears? Have you ever sparred with Bashar?" he asks with far more interest, "Now that you mention it, I will hold you to your world." and he is getting distracted but then the sword is handed to him so he gets his attention back to it, "Diamonds and rubies. Nice. The hilt has a good size, the grip makes a good hold. The weight is within the limits. The blade hmm, it could be better but it isn't a bad one, average. If you look at it here, it has some very small imperfections, it is still good in combat but it means that it might need to be repaired soon if you use it too much."

"Too bad we didn't find a bear, though," Alastor says, as the patrol group returns to the army post. "I've never watched a bear fight before."

"If we'd found a bear, we wouldn't have /fought/ it," Oribanna points out to Alastor. "That'd be silly."

Alexa's attention is with her young aide Gennic, speaking with her quietly while they troop back from the patrol.

Gaddineez nods his head at Hufimo's question. "Yes, I permanently injured Bashar when he put out the word for people to spar him, and I believe im the only one to have collected the prize money he put up"

Sotiris's one of those who returns with the march- helping to bring three Bandits into the city. As he sees Gaddineez, he gives him a salute out of respect for the Panther, a little smile. He looks over at Alastor. "If..if you w..wa..want a buh..buh buh bear.. I wi..will f..flus.flush a buh..buh..bear for you." he nods quietly to the man.

Lucia hrms. "I should probably get it repaired then...it's a personal weapon of significant...sentimental value. I should find a weaponsmith." She takes her sword back.

Sharin makes his way over to the group of returning patrollers and gives a salute to all of them that need it (Alexa). "How did the rest of the patrol go?"

Alastor says, "We would if it was in an area where kids were playing, or if it was eating someone. Sometimes the bears get real vicious, and they have to be put down. Then we make them into griffon food." And, wonders of all wonders, he bites back any mocking comments at Sotiris' offer. Instead, he gives a curt, "No thanks."

Oribanna says "Yeah, but kids don't play out in the woods. Or if they do, then they shouldn't be surprised if they get attacked by bears. I mean, that's where the bears live."

Sotiris gives a nod over to the man, seeming to be content with that, he closes his eyes a bit to take a deep breath. Just a moment in time, but he stands still- waiting to be dismissed, or told more orders.

If he defeated Bashar the next question is obvious, "How about lord Rikon?" that would make it an interesting match to watch. Hufimo offers a bow to the nobles, since he is off duty as one can tell by the lack of insignia. "It doesn't need to be repaired yet, m'lady. But if it is of sentimental value you may wish to preserve it. To be honest, there are few people with really good blades, but there are also few people that can make them, at least as far as I know."

Alastor still argues the point, more because he's bored than because he wants to argue, really. "Well, the militia has been called to kill bears before. I guess that's usually when they get near the gates, but still."

Lucia places the sword back in her belt. "I prefer to consider the sword as a last resort, in any case."

"Sentries, I know I am not in your chain of command, but it is still generally polite to answer a Centurion's question. How did the rest of the fight go after the griffon went wild?" Sharin asks again politely.

Gaddineez shakes his head at the mention of Rikon. "Rikon is a good spearman, but he is a tad bit faster than me, and that makes all the difference for him, I havent defeated him... yet" Gaddineez then offers Sotiris a bit of a grunt and a nod before his eyes once more scan over the group. Noting Alexa, Gaddineez slams a fist to his iron clad chest in salute to the general, even if the bonduin himself is no longer in the republic military

Oribanna is distracted from the argument about bears. "Huh? Oh, sorry sir, I thought you were askin' Centurion Bashar. Um, it went smooth, I think! We captured the bandits. I clocked one of 'em upside the head with my sword," she reports proudly, "and someone shot the other 'un, and the other 'un came quietly. I think the horses probably got eaten, though."

Alastor was busy arguing, and didn't hear Sharin before, but he does now. "Oh. They caught that third guy, the wagon driver was dead, and the First came up to arrest them all, before the other guy that got knocked out even woke up."

Sharin gives a nod. "Thank you, Sentry. Please, go back to arguing." He comments.

Oribanna nods to Alastor's version. "Didja see what they had in the wagon?" she asks him.

Gennic chatters with Alexa, recounting her harrowing tale of running away from the fight to gather guards. "And then they asked what we saw and I told them about the bandits and how the patrol was arguing and being loud, but in the end you captured them all!" all said on a breath and then some.

Alastor answers a quick messenger, with a distracted, "Hang on, that's my mom." And it's not good to keep moms waiting. Once that's done, he gets back to, if not arguing, at least talking. "Some cloth, a bunch of roast fowl, some tools, kid boots, bunch of stuff."

Sotiris looks over at Sharin, kneeling a bit as he licks his lips. "H...horses a..are Eaten. Gri.griffin ate them, Lo..lots of things in wagon. Standard Meer.. meer.. merchant shipment. LE..left city not to long ago." he says quietly, looking back to Gennic with a smile. Perhaps fond of children.

Oribanna says "And they KILLED a guy for it? Damn."

"Probably thought he had silk," Alastor says, with a shrug. "Or iron. Ack, my mom again."

Sharin nods. "I was on the griffon, Sentry, I am well aware of what happened to them." He says, a little sadly. "It was...unpleasant." He nods to Gennic.

Oribanna snickers at Alastor. "Maybe she needs you to kill a bear."

Alastor challenges Oribanna to a debate.

Oribanna accepts Alastor's challenge and asks Alastor to specify the topic of debate.

Alastor explains, "The topic is: Patrols should kill bears: yes or no?"

Alastor states, "My position will be: Yes, patrols should kill bears"

Oribanna looks thoughtful over whether or not to accept the topic.

Oribanna indicates that Alastor has suggested an acceptable debate topic.

As is customary, Alastor will argue first.

Hufimo lifts a brow when hearing something about griffons and horses. "If you ever try again, call me to watch. I bet that it will be a great match." he says to the bonduin, and then he takes his axe, "Did m'lady see the details that I mentioned in the metal? This is a different weapon and yet you can still look for the same flaws and see them if there are any. If they are indeed too obvious and cover over 50 percent of blade, then it is a bad one." *Firan*

Alastor says, "I think that the patrols should kill bears because they can menace the farmers, who are out there farming the land for food for us. And they can attack merchants, and then we won't get shipments from other cities. Usually you don't see bears, because they're behaving, so I think if one is causing enough trouble to be known and seen, then it probably should be killed because it's not scared enough of people." The crowd is swayed by Alastor's argument and begins to shout, hoot and whistle their approval!

Gaddineez nods once more to Hufimo's words. "I imagine I will be calling for a spar with him again when I get further along in my quest to be a legend of a spearman"

Oribanna says, "Military patrols should not kill bears. First of all, patrols patrol outside the city walls. That's the point. And if bears aren't allowed to live and mind their business outside city walls, they won't have anywhere to live and will all die! Then when we need them for meat or whatever, they won't be there to shoot. Second, it's dangerous to kill bears, and military people could get hurt doing it. If the bear is somewhere it's not supposed to be, like on farm land killing someone's goats, or in the city chasing someone's children, it would be okay to kill it. But, if it's by itself out in the woods, patrols should leave it alone." The crowd looks unimpressed by Oribanna's arguments.

When all is said and done, the crowd agrees that even if his position is not correct, Alastor made the better arguments, and won the debate.

Sharin raises an eyebrow. "Truly we are witnessing a great day for the Firan Republic Military."

[Military] Gennic says, "As per my SOP, I welcome any @mail responding to the event, comments, criticisms, praise, suggestions."

Alastor continues arguing, which is what Sharin -- who outranks him! -- said to do. This is just until the debrief is geared up, though. "Ha! I argued it better."

Lucia nods, studying it. And using it as an excuse to, well, ignore the argument that's going on. "I see what you mean now. I am used to studying armor, but there are parallels." *Firan*

Alexa grins a bit at Gennic. "I think credit needs to be given to Centurion Bashar. He kept his head when the griffon veered off." She looks over at Alastor and Oribanna as they animatedly discuss the virtues of bear hunting. "We should have the First and the other divisions work together more. I think the training serves both well."

Gennic finds a seat and a lap desk and starts to transcribe her notes. "Uhm?" she hesitantly tries to break into the great debate..."May I please get a detailed report from each of you on the encounter?" a quick smile at Alexa as she scribbles that...Bashar definitely lead the ground patrol.

"Naw, you didn't," Oribanna says. "Did he?" she appeals to some random sentry, who shrugs, and points at Alastor. "Damn," she says goodnaturedly. "I guess you win after all. I owe you a drink or something." She shuts up when it looks like the debrief is getting started.

"Commander Tagda was the first one to smell the smoke, I and...I believe you, Sentry," he says to Ori, "spotted it first. To his credit, the bandit leader was smart enough to release the horses."

Oribanna beams at whoever said that.

Alastor has a statement to make. "I think maybe we should have paired up before we headed out. Or, I mean, told we were supposed to, I didn't realize that. I've never been to war or out in skirmishes to really know how that works. And outside-the-walls patrols are different from inside, I learned, which is good. Good for me to learn, I mean."

Alexa looks at the patrol and grimaces. Where is the military decorum? Either that, or she's losing her edge without having dozens of kids to keep track of. Chaotic military.

Gaddineez is getting too many people near him and it seems to be making the bonduin uncomfortable with all of these firans. Gaddineez moves off towards the south without saying anything to anyone else around him, Alexa is given yet another salute on his way past the Ticanee general

Alexa returns the salute as the Bonduin heads off.

Alastor did shut up when the debriefing started. He doesn't know how debriefings work, so he just puts in his statement when Gennic calls for them.

Marsalos had to go do...something. He returns with bow refastened to his backpack, folding his hands at the small of his back as he comes back to the small group. Salute here, outranked there, then he turns his attention to whoever's talking just now.

Hufimo nods to the lady, "I didn't know that you already knew how to appraise armour, that would have made it easier to explain. In away you evaluate the same things. The weight, the shape and the condition of the metal and how it was worked on." he says, noticing that he probably can't teach anymore than that and it is also getting way too crowded here for him, "If you need help on your quest, let me know." at least if it involves a spar, "I am Hufimo, by the way."

Sotiris's quiet- new, but just at attention. Waiting and listening for the General to finish, so he can complete her orders as before.

Gaddineez looks over over at Hufimo and nods to the man at his words. "Im always looking for people to spar with to help me on my quest to be a legendary spearman" Gaddineez pauses on the outskirts of the Post to watch the general chaotic group of Republic soldiers. His grip on his spear tightens and a growl escapes the bonduins throat, to chew out the young soldiers... or not to...

"Their first patrol, General." Sharin comments softly, seeing her giving little twitches. "Everyone is a little...over excited after their first bit of action. I was unconscious after mine, but oh well."

Gennic leans over, showing Alexa her notes...giving the General information to debrief the group.

Marsalos raises an eyebrow, glancing at the various talking groups and then at the patrol. First patrol? Not him. He remains silent as he's not being spoken to, still just watching.

Alexa nods to Gennic and points out, "Sentry Sotiris of the First assisted in identifying who we were encountering. Tactics would have been far different if it were a bunch of goats or a more organized group of criminals." *Firan*

You paged Alexa with 'Debrief - Cons - they were lax on patrol, too much chatter...they would have given away their position long before they came across the bandits had it been Shamis or experienced Bandits. Pros - they followed orders promptly without any backtalk. Good things to let their CO's know...and a suggestion for another patrol to practice being quiet.'

Lucia nods to Hufimo. "Do I owe you anything for this instruction?"

Alastor waits, unless he's called on for more information -- about bear hunting or otherwise, really. He recognizes that look in Alexa, and knows when to keep quiet.

Oribanna looks cheerful, despite having lost the argument about bears. She glances over at Marsalos, and grins.

Sotiris's silent, as he stands all the straighter when his name is said. There is a measure of pride in his stance. Even if it was a little thing, he is proud of it.

Hufimo waves his hand in dismissal, "No need, m'lady. See it as my way to repay you for the instruction in firefighting that you gave me when I was a kid. I am glad to have been able to help."

Marsalos quirks a brow at Oribanna, not returning the grin. Whether or not he's amused is beyond the point; he just doesn't smile all that often. His attention goes back to Genic and Alexa as they go over what happened.

Lucia smiles. "Thank you."

Alexa looks over the patrol after perusing the notes and says, "You all did a good job. No backtalking, no arguing with orders or second guessing the officers in charge. However, something you all need to work on." She looks at Oribanna and Alastor specifically. "Too much chatter. If there were Goats out there, they'd have heard us coming before we spotted them."

Alastor nods his head. Silently.

Oribanna blinks at Alexa, looking confused, then whispers something to Alastor.

Oribanna whispers "What's she mean? We didn't start talking about bears until we got back." (to Alastor)

Gennic takes notes during the debrief as well, more intent on getting the information down then how neat her scroll is, she'll be assigned to re-write it later.

Alastor whispers "We still talked along the way, remember? You telling about how you'd been seasonally enlisted some, me talking about how I re-enlisted a few months ago. That stuff." (to Oribanna)

Oribanna whispers "Oh yeah." (to Alastor)

Alexa jabs a finger down towards the ground and says, "Sentry! Give me push ups until I'm tired. When you are dismissed, then you can chatter your fool head off."

<OOC> Gennic laughs at that pose! I love it!

Alastor whispered back a quick response, then stops. Uh oh. "Me too, General?" he asks unhappily. "I was just explaining what you were referring to, honest."

Marsalos' chin tilts up slightly, his brows suddenly drawing together as some thought or other strikes him. His lips purse into a fain frown of thought as he glances towards the north, then back at the others. Sentries in trouble, etc etc.

A look of comprehension dawns on Oribanna's face as Alastor whisper back. Then she blushes when called out by Alexa, and scrambles to her feet, unstrapping her breastplate and backplate and then dropping to the ground to do pushups.

"Yes, Ma'am!" Sotiris shouts out, assuming the woman means /all/ Sentry- and then he goes down to the ground to begin and do pushups. They do not appear to be overly difficult, really.

Oribanna completes a set of push ups.

Sotiris barely seemed to finish all his push ups.

"You are welcome, m'lady." Hufimo says offering her a bow, "If you need any further assistance, m'lady is welcome to ask." And then there is the shout for push ups, he turns to watch and hmm, check out Oribanna's measurements. Not bad.

"Yes, Sentry Alastor. Do pushups." To Oribanna, she says dryly, "/With/ all your gear next time. It builds character." She nods to Sotiris, pleased. "Find out what clan that man is from. I want to commend their training program."

Oribanna pants, "Yes ma'am Dame General!" after she's completed her first set of pushups. Then, she starts in on another.

Alastor drops to do pushups, but pacing himself, because it can take a long time for Alexa to get tired. Longer than it'll take /him/.

Alastor completes a set of push ups.

Sotiris completes a set of push ups.

Oribanna completes a set of push ups.

Marsalos continues to stand there, hands folded behind him as Alexa addresses the Sentries. Not dismissed yet. He's quite good at holding still, even if his attention does flicker here and there sometimes.

Sotiris's quiet now as he continues to do pushups, up and down, up and down. He does his best, eyes closed as he focuses hard on his pushup-work.

Gennic murmurs to Alexa, "Chimera, General Ma'am."

Sharin does the same as Marsalos, standing there. Doo whop.

Marsalos doo bee. Doo bee. Doo.

The girl..from Impanema...

<OOC> Gennic says, "And y'all made fun of my OMGBBQ"

Alexa satisfied as the pushups are completed without argument, she says, "On your feet!" Back to the debriefing. "Now then. Considering the difficulties that air forces have, having a defined chain of command on the ground would likely benefit us as well." She ahs and nods to Gennic. "Chimera. Yes, excellent. Thank you, Gennic." She adds more to herself, "Can't be Vasyklo's work, he can't see past his nose these days."

Oribanna has definitely slowed down toward the end, and she drops to the ground panting for a moment, catching her breath, before scrambling to her feet as ordered and buckling her armor back on.

Sotiris's jumping to his feet, breathing heavily from his pushups, but silent still as once more he's at attention. Listening to Alexa, focused on her alone.

Lucia is simply watching this, for now. She might not be part of the patrol, but now her business with Mer Hufimo is concluded, she respectfully watches the General.

Alastor is very quick to hop up to his feet once the okay is given, having successfully paced himself to at least survive the pushups. He's actually getting a little stronger as he ages, too, into a more or less full-grown adult.

Marsalos has...nothing to say. If you agree with a General it's probably not worth saying, and if you disagree, too bad. He shifts his weight slightly, listening.

Now that everyone seems to be in line, Alexa says, "Good job, everyone. Dismissed!" Run, little soldiers, run!

[Military] Gennic has to say, so far...I've really enjoyed both patrols. Thank you for making them fun for me!

[Military] Oribanna says, "Thanks for running 'em. :)"

[Military] Audio, Video, Disco Marsalos says, "Yes, thank you :) I liked this one better than the last, I think"

[Military] Jessica says, "@mail with why...but really, you'd get bored if we did the same thing every time"

[Military] Dame General Alexa says, "It was cool. Thanks, Jessica :)"

[Military] Audio, Video, Disco Marsalos sent you a @mail about the last one too. Will @mail about this one :)

[Military] Jessica says, "Oh, awesome, thanks Marsalos"
