Overview

There are clan ministers and Republic ministers, they share many things in common, being the eyes, ears, hands and mouths of their clan leaders, proxies and the Viceroy or Ranivor.

Ministers hold an important role for their clan. They assist the Clan Leader and Proxy in day to day activities that the leaders are normally too busy to handle. They are the foremen on the construction sites, they are the headmasters of the schools, they are the Commanders of the military. They do not have to be of specific classes, though the Clan Proxy usually turns to more trusted members of the clan to fill these roles. The Ministers can have their own trades by nature, but also assist their clan by being the go-between for the Proxy in matters they minister over.

A minister might have an office in the government district of their clan. They are expected to check in each day and review the current schedule, or assign work to be done. They might take breakfast with their workers early morning before the day starts. They might take a tour of the facilities they minister over, if there are problems they are expected to fix them immediately or they are expected to involve the Clan Proxy or Clan Leader to discuss the matter further. It is expected that they send updates on a regular basis to the Clan Proxy.

Ministers are assigned for a variety of things, everything from economics; handling the entire trading economy of their clan, education, morale, construction to dairy production and other very specific fields. They are direct appointees of their respective leader and, as such, speak with that leader's voice in their specified field.

Duties

A clan or Republic minister might have many duties, some even not publically recognized, such as acting as a diplomat and envoy for their clan leader, or reporting problems and concerns of the people. In addition ministers may be responsible for:

  • Filing monthly reports on their area, to be used in @clan/improves.
  • Overseeing healers, matchmakers, and teachers of the clan.
  • Managing the finances of their ministry.
  • Managing the supplies and personnel of their ministry.
  • Handling urgent matters of public welfare when the Leader or Proxies are not available.
  • Providing for clan needs.
  • Holding events to improve morale, literacy, health, child rearing and other attributes of the clan.
  • Dispersing resources to clan members.
  • Tax refunds.
  • Clan trading.
  • Approving construction in the clan's district.
  • Overseeing the dispensation of clan lands.
  • Organizing players and accumulating goods for the clan's needs or wants.
  • Acting as a leader or proxy's secretary/assistant.

These are just a few of the common duties a minister is called on to undertake for the benefit of his or her clan and there are many, many more.
