Modestia
From FiranMUX
Once a beautiful woman, once an Honoria, Modestia perished in 39 A.U. at
the age of 38: a slaver and condemned to soul death for her actions. There
is much mystery surrounding Modestia, clouded stories and lies fabricated
by a seductive, manipulative prostitute.
Originally a Cockatrice from the city of Agadin, Modestia was a child of wars and air raids. She lost her parents in one Shamibelian raid and was orphaned when she was very young. For years, she told people that her younger sister Meeni also died as a result of the raid -- but that would turn out to be a terrible lie; one of many that Modestia would weave.
She made her way to Lurashar after the raids killed her family and met the famed Madame Honoria, joined the whorehouse, and began to work her wiles as a whore to the rich and famous. Modestia would eventually become one of the Anarinuell Honorias in the Eagle District. She became their madame and entertained the royals of the Republic. Indeed, her sponsor for a time was none other than a prince; she lived life at the top of the spectrum of whores. It was Modestia who oversaw the Honorias getting a house for themselves -- and all seemed charmed. Until, that is, 39 A.U., when a woman by the name of Meeni came around the city.
Meeni, an escaped Cockatrice slave, proclaimed herself to be none other than Modestia's younger sister: not dead, as the Honoria would have said, but sold by a cold-hearted sibling into cold slavery. Modestia was quickly arrested and brought to trial. Her guilt was overwhelmingly evident and the arrest led to further investigations into other potential slavers including a Mes Berdeena (a Dove, to date not convicted) and a Mes Sadera (convicted and also soul deathed). The details of Modestia's arrest and interrogation were made terribly, unbelievably public in a poor move by the prosecuting Lord Fiero.
On Thursday Sept. 21 of 39 A.U., the Clan Council stated that they found Modestia guilty of the crime of slaving. She wrote a confession stating that she had sold both Mes Meeni and an unnamed child born to one of the whores, making use of her position as a prostitute. She was stripped of her last name and cast out of the House Honoria. Ironically, Modestia was drowned as per her request for a bath. Her life of hazy lies had finally been unraveled; she was a slaver.
