NANNY

The life of a nanny is a full, if not stressed, one. Nannies are typically females who have been fully trained in childrearing as well as other skills. Their income varies depending on the employer, but across the board, nannies are paid well.

Many nannies find employment within a noble house, tending to the needs of the noble children. The nanny usually resides in a room in the noble house, nearby the children. The more 'important' the noble family is, the more important the children are, and the more prestigious the position. Nannies are responsible for ensuring the children are well fed, bathed, and they get play time and exercise. Many times, nannies also assist in arranging for the education of the children, either teaching them themselves or assisting a hired tutor. In some instances, the nanny would report directly to the steward, rather than the noble she works for.

Equipment

There are no particular 'tools' that nannies require to do their jobs. However, the nanny would need to consider items that would be useful to tend to or entertain children while away from home. For example, a nanny might need are bandages for when her charges get scrapes, perhaps a toy or two, or snacks of some sort. Imagination is good here.

Attributes and Skills

The primary skill that would be attributed to nannies is the child rearing skill. Native talent would likely be attention, perception, and command. If there are a lot of children, mass organization and leadership skills would be good to learn.

Game commands

Of particular use to the nanny would be the 'clead' command, which allows a person on a child's trusted list to lead them to places. The 'command' command, which is based off the leadership skill, allows you to issue commands to PCs or NPCs, though what NPCs can do is limited. Suggested Roleplay Ideas

Often, the children the nanny is responsible for are only objects, therefore they must be posed by the person responsible for them. A nanny can have a great influence on how a child turns out when they are ready for character generation. Some things the nanny can do with the children:

  • Take the children to the temples
  • Take the children to the baths
  • Attend children-oriented events
  • Bring the children to see their parents to tell them about their adventures
  • Visit other families with the children
