Overview
Neoma Wolfhawke is the adopted daughter of Dame General Alexa Wolfhawke, a midwife and healer who serves as Head of the Urtenian Order of Ticanee Healers.
A woman with frumpy looks and a Shamibelian slave brand on the back of her left hand, Neoma has green eyes, upper-thigh length thick copper hair and freckled skin. Neoma appears to weigh about 150 pounds and stands about 5'6" tall. Thick copper hair is the crowning glory of this woman's form which is both tall and slender by Firan standards. Pale freckles liberally decorate her skin, especially across her nose and cheeks, making a sharp contrast to the blue moon and grey feather tattoo that is displayed on her right cheek. Green eyes are quick to take in details when she turns her attention to a situation and her movements are usually made with a deliberate confidence, although her hair and dress tend to have a rather haphazard look at odds with her stance. Neoma has a tattoo on her right cheek. and a tattoo on her left hand.
The tattoo on her right cheek is a scant crescent moon sweeps across the right cheekbone, a blue against the pale color of skin. Floating above the eternal moon is a grey owl feather in silent motion.
On her left hand is a slave brand over which is tattooed a panther in remembrance of her part in the quest to put the bones of the Panther King to rest.
Early History
Neoma was born in Caldera City to a Ticanee woman and an unknown Ticanee father. Her mother refused to name who had gotten her pregnant as she worried that her family would make her wed and remain in the Ticanee clan if they knew. Eschewing all things Ticanee, Neoma's mother distanced herself from the Ticanee in Caldera City and embraced the Firan lifestyle. Eventually, Neoma's mother married a Cockatrice man and joined his family and clan, striving to become the epitome of a Cockatrice woman. This led to a lot of head butting with Neoma, who wanted nothing more than to learn more of her Ticanee heritage. She got what training she could from other Ticanee in Caldera City, refused to learn the Firan language, and eventually had her Rites of Passage but never a Ceremony of Souls. When she learned of her mother and step-father's plans to involve her in a traditional Cockatrice wedding (of the 'SURPRISE! You're getting married today!' sort), Neoma fled Caldera City in the company of Baro, a friend and companion who would eventually become her first husband.
Recent History
After arriving at Anarinuell, Neoma came across Dame General Alexa Wolfhawke, who offered her a job as a nanny to the Dame General's large brood of cubs (from several interrelated familes, this grouping of cubs was known as the Wolfpack). The Dame General also enlisted Neoma into the clan military and the Republic military under the Fifth Division. Neoma served as a medic in the Fifth, eventually attaining the rank of Centurion, for several years before retiring from the Republic military after events during her trip into Shamibelian lands left her unable to function well in the crowded situations the military required.
As midwife, nanny, and medic, Neoma settled into the life she'd always wanted but couldn't obtain in Caldera City. She was accepted as Dame Mother Urtenia's apprentice and that venerable woman taught her a great deal about midwifery in that role, as well as acting as something of an unofficial grandmother. Since the Dame Mother was also a Shaman, she was an excellent guide for Neoma (and Baro) in learning more about their Ticanee heritage. She set the pair marriage quests with the goal of teaching them more about that culture before they could wed. Once they were wed, Baro moved in with Neoma at the Wolfhawke house. Despite a great deal of trying, the couple was never blessed with a pregnancy and Baro was eventually killed while trying to rescue people after the blizzard and flooding of 36 AU.
Neoma deeply mourned the loss of her husband and withdrew into herself somewhat as a result. It wasn't until she joined a trip to Vahloria with Lady Proxy Taleena Oshta and her brother, Lord Mateo Oshta, along with several other Ticanee Clan members, that she began to break down some of the grief that she had walled up inside of her. On that trip, she started her quilt which took her several years to complete.
There were a couple more close deaths after that, most notable among them being that of Dame Mother Urtenia and the loss during childbirth of Lady Lilana Didoron, who was the adopted daughter of the Oshta, Clan Leader Taria Oshta. The Oshta's reaction to the loss of Lady Lilana was... strong. Thanks to Lady Lilana's deathbed wish and the involvement of Lady Proxy Taleena Oshta, Neoma's punishment was not the execution the Oshta originally wished, but instead a whipping. Despite the failure with Lady Lilana, Neoma has continued to serve as the preferred midwife of the Oshta family, including being present for the birth of the Oshta's youngest child, Urtenus. After Urentia's death, her famed spinyfish doll (well, one of him anyway), Little Rasmus, came into Neoma's care. Little Rasmus, the Spinyfish Doll in Dashing Iron Armor, has been Neoma's near constant companion every since.
On Tuesday, June 29, 37 AU, Neoma was officially adopted by Dame General Alexa into the Wolfhawke family. Neoma was both surprised and touched beyond expression. During 42 AU, Neoma joined Lady Tanya Oshta, Mer Alastor Coyote, Mer Karish Karanik, Commander Tagda Leafchaser, Priestess Nicolette Marcello, and Dame Mother General Alexa Wolfhawke to travel into Shamibelian lands to give proper funeral rites to the bones of the Panther King, which the Shamibelian's had displayed on spikes as an object lesson. During this quest, Neoma was captured by the Shamibelians and brutalized by their Bonduin slaves before eventually escaping captivity with most of the others (Nicolette had to remain behind) to return to Firan lands.
On the eve of the war season of 42 AU, when the Republic finally retook Ellish, Neoma wed a Mer Dasun, whom she didn't know very much at all, in a quick wedding performed by the Dame General (ironically, this marriage was done similarly to the Cockatrice style of surprise weddings). Soon after their marriage, Neoma officially adopted two girls who had been in her care since their infancy (Kaira and Aedria), as well as an orphaned boy, Tavi, who came from Caldera City and was residing in the Ticanee orphanage. The relationship between Dasun and Neoma has grown and deepened during their time together and has resulted finally in the birth of a son, Deos Wolfhawke.
Personality & Beliefs
Practical, traditional, and organized, Neoma has no time for dallying. Neoma works hard, plays hard, and likes to be in charge (though not so much anymore on that last part). Neoma is a very upstanding citizen who values friends, family, and security. Neoma wouldn't mind throwing a little fun in there too, after the work is done, of course.
Neoma is a workaholic in the grand tradition of her adopted mother. She's typically fairly easy going, though she can be susceptible to glum moods. Since her return from Shamibelian lands, she's been much more uncomfortable in crowds and around men. Especially large groups of men.
She's a believer in the Totemstotems and has begun the first stages of training to be a shaman for the Ticanee Clan, but she doesn't deny the existence of the Firan gods as some traditional Ticanee will. Her feelings on the subject of Goats are pretty typical, in that she doesn't trust the enemy at all, though she's less certain about painting all haffies with the same brush. On the subject of twins, she's highly confused. On the one hand, she's been raised surrounded by the understanding that twins are bad and that the gods frown upon. On the other hand, as a midwife, she has a glimpse at just how often the blessings of the gods result in twins being born.

Enemies
- Alastor Coyote (?) - since their return from Shamibelian lands, the relationship between Alastor and Neoma has become very strained. She helped raise him when he was a child and looked on him as something of a son, so she's had a hard time with this new strained relationship. Not really an enemy, but... oddly strained relationship. She really doesn't know how to categorize him anymore, especially since she still cares for him.
- Unnamed Shamibelian - the fellow with the hateful red eyes and giant axe who branded Neoma's hand.
Allies
- Dame Mother General Alexa Wolfhawke - mom, confidante, hero.
