NESTANINA

Nestanina was a fortune-teller who lived in the Old City, but had as her clients many of the city's more prestigeous citizens. She first rose to prominence after surviving an abduction by Shamibelians who had made a daring griffonback attack on Anarinuell. However, eventually she became cloistered, after rumors that she was having an affair with Prince Sadin Elianik became widespread. Indeed, her eldest son looked so much like the prince that his mother, Princess Selene went into a rage against the woman in one public encounter. However, despite her rumored affair, Nestanina married Wolerian Istems, an Old City ganger who she reportedly fell in love with. Wolerian eventually vanished and Nestanina was distraught, claiming that he had been murdered by his own family. Even more rumors began to circulate about the woman.

Though Nestanina disappeared from the public eye for a while to let rumors die down, she eventually reappeared to ply her trade once more. She even participated in a festival, offering fortune-tellings and readings to festival goers. But one night after she returned from the festival, the Old City was awakened by cries for help from the fortune-teller's house. When people arrived, they found her home and surrounding buildings ablaze.

Though both of her children were later recovered - and the rumors on exactly how it was that they were found safe and alive are varied and colorful - Nestanina herself was never seen again, presumably burned to ash in the fire.
