NEVRA ISTRA BARUN

Lady Nevra Ista Barun was born a Cockatrice, in the year 07 A.U. to Dinesh and Norah Jaffus. Nevra married into the Ista Barun family to Lord Quintallus in 24 AU, and bore him one child, Lady Vaquira (now Shadina), before his execution in 25 AU (news Quintallus). She was Acting Head of House when the Chimeran medallion was taken from the Rissik family, and so was the one who made the decision to move the family to the Bear Clan. She quickly became very popular in the Bear Clan, which adopted the motto "Always a noble; Always a Bear" to refer to her. She married Lord Docci Ista Barun shortly after he arrived in the city and bore him three children: Lord Devran, Lady Sitara and Lady Erianthe Shadina. She was a delegate for a few terms. After a murder attempt by another member of the family, the Ista Barun family was disbanded and Lord Docci swore an oath to the Bears, retaining his nobility, and a marriage was arranged with Lady Zelva Shadina, taking him and Nevra's children, making them Shadinas. Lord Trikon was married into the Teranzik family to Lady Xamori. Lady Nevra, being a neo noble, was to be made common, stripped of title and family and allowed to live her days as a commoner of the Bear Clan if she would swear the oath. While she was imprisoned, considering her options, and pregnant with Erianthe, Lady Junia decided to try and save the Ista Barun family, and kidnapped Lady Nevra. She was held hostage during the Cockatrice food riots, as bait to bring Lord Docci and the Ista Barun family to the Cockatrice clan. Lord Docci refused, because of his oath.

In order to obtain marriageable Ladies for the clan, Oshta Taria of the Ticanee offered Lady Nevra asylum, and she accepted, bringing herself -- the last member of the Ista Barun in Anarinuell -- to the Ticanee Clan. During her five years as an unwed Ticanee noble, submersed herself in the Ticanee clan and culture. Unable to care for her own children, she gladly accepted the position of Minister of Child Welfare within the clan. Rumors surfaced at one point that she had been secretly married to Clan Leader Jalil -- which he quickly denied. More scandal followed as during the Fall Festival of 35 A.U., she announced she was renouncing her title to marry a common Ticanee man, Derik Leafchaser, for love. And shortly thereafter she was arrested under reasons of national security. Some time after the festival, Clan Leader Taria passed Lady Nevra off to the Bear Clan, citing she had confessed to not having the strength to keep oaths sworn to the Ticanee Clan Leader. She was sentenced to execution by drinking wolfsbane by Lady Proxy Fidelia in December 35 AU, directly upon transfer of citizenship, and the sentence was immediately carried out. Even after after death, controversy continued to shroud her. At Nevra's funeral, held January 7, 36 AU, Priestess Alyosha Rabiashik made a speech denouncing her execution, stating that the Lady was noticeably pregnant.
