Ranks & Offices
As such there isn't much in the way of ranks where Niobe comes from. However, she's a part of Black Company also and likely holds a rank there if you ask around.
Then there's that whole Republic Sentry thing, but we don't talk about that.
Personality
Niobe is one who can't make up her mind. She's mischievous and has far too much sass for her size. She has a short fuse and is liable to snap at the smallest infraction throwing a punch or two, but be the first to pick her opponent up and brush them off. She scowls and tries to act intimidating, but dissolves into high pitched giggles a second later. Possessed of a kind heart, she is not inherently cruel, but she is no pushover. However, in direct contrast to those who can never forget a wrong, Niobe can never remember a wrong. Anyone who ticks her off is forgiven ten minutes later as she promptly forgets what happened. Likewise, she never understands why people may have issues with her. Whatever happened, it's in the past! Since her Ceremony of Souls, however, Niobe has a little more capacity for hanging on to grudges, reacting strongly to those who are visible half-breeds with mistrust and loathing.
Family Life
Parents
- Kachina Firona is the spitfire Old City brewer and constant source of gossip and amusement around. She's like a mother bear, protecting her kids fiercely, but making them grow up on their own. She takes in orphans all the time. Niobe thinks that she's Kachina's favorite though, her oldest natural daughter. Kachina died in an accident when Wendos the bookie threw a scroll case at her. Niobe finds this a terrible injustice, but isn't holding a grudge about it.
- Madix Cellini used to be someone that Niobe looked up to. Before she was an adult, and honestly before her mother died. But after that he just checked out, leaving the girls to mostly fend for themselves or rely on the good nature of other people for things. Niobe ended up raising her sisters by herself mostly and this caused her to lose a lot of respect for her father. Now she just tolerates him, there is no idolizing. In fact since he died like a coward and left her and her sisters in debt, she hates him now. HATE. IDIOT.
Siblings
- Geloe Firona is the second child of four and REALLY smart... and really quiet. Geloe acts more adult than Niobe does, even though Geloe is a couple years younger. She's quiet. Niobe is boisterous. Geloe often very serious. Niobe, well, often not. But she is Niobe's partner in crime and helps get her OUT of scrapes, soothing with sweets and kind words after.
- Kandara Firona is Niobe all over again. Just Niobe without the kind heartedness. She's got all the Firona temper and little of the control that goes with it, Niobe adores her. They have their scrapes sure but they both understand they're just that, scrapes.
- Kadia Firona is the most exasperating child that Niobe has ever met. She's sweet, she's nice and Niobe just doesn't get her. They may live under the same roof, and Niobe had a big hand in raising her but whenever things come up anymore she sends for Geloe to talk to Kadia. It's easier, and makes Niobe less apt to bang her head on a wall.
Marriage
- Jariko Istems and Niobe have known each other almost their entire lives. Reguardless of how much their mothers disliked, perhaps even hated each other at times. Jariko is also the brother of Niobe's friend Gilin, the reason the two were so often in the same place most likely. One thing led to another, in the odd courting/teasing ritual that the pair danced. Niobe ended up pregnant and Jariko offered marriage. It's widely known that she isn't interested in just a few babies now either. Woe betide Jariko.

Accomplishments
- The Dagger and Dice
- Going on the mission to blow a hole in the Fort Triumph wall and living. Not to mention there was a hole blown in the wall for real!
- Helping take down the gate at Ellish, regardless that they were being cooked while doing it. GO BATTERING RAM!
Failures
- Being seasick, likely puking drunk, while on a ship has a way of making you seem a HUGE threat. So much so that during the second Supreme Pirate challenge, when she was so 'sick' she couldn't compete, Niobe earned enough black marks to get passage home. Stuff of legends.
- Failure to pay a 62 million stenis debt, lets face it Niobe's not going to come up with that kind of stenis. Conscription baby, here she comes! Lets add in that her sisters are likely all going to be conscripted too and that pisses her off. She didn't spend years making sure they had enough to eat and could defend themselves to get them conscripted over something they didn't even do! Arsehole da!

Scandals
Rumor has it that Niobe was unwed when she first got pregnant. In fact she was quite round before there was a wedding necklace around her neck. Some question as to whether the babe was even Jariko's though he married her. Mind you no one questions her to her face and most do assume it's his. Jariko's not an idiot after all.
Apparently after going off and being in that winning war campaign to reclaim Ellish, Niobe decided to stay enlisted in the Republic military. Which means that she's still in the Cockatrice military. What the hell Niobe?
Miscellany
Habits
- Collecting stray children.
- Remaining unbathed for long periods of time.
- Falling off of things a person has no right falling off of and living.
- Examples:
- Falling off of Mount Zhuren while attempting to climb up and speak with the Oracles there. Okay really a boulder rolled off and took her with it, it hurt. She eventually got to the top.
- Falling off of a siege tower at the war season of 42 A.U. or rather more specifically a plank from the siege tower to the wall of Fort Triumph. Amazingly she lived through that too and missed that nice trench with the spikes at the bottom.
