Official Statement
My name, as you very well know, is Vitara Nobifa Vettle, Daughter of Anobis and Sasha Vettle, Wife of General Hralib Vettle, Governor. I would point out that I am grieving for my husband and do not appreciate being grilled about his death. His body was found on my sister-wife's property, but unlike her, I am too classy to accuse her. As far as I'm concerned, Hralib's slaves must have killed him. That's the presumption, isn't it? Besides, if we go digging too much we might embarrass ourselves. After all, Pevifa, your own daughter, Tabitha had as good a motive as anyone to kill our husband. Tabitha is in love with that dreadful Samiroon creature, Lainath. Hralib refused to let her marry him--perhaps she did away with him so she could have the marriage of her choice.
Background
It was such an honor to be taken as wife to Governor Hralib, and an even bigger honor to so supplant his First Wife. Nobifa has been busy situating herself in Anarinuell, and enjoying her status there all the while. Too bad Hralib is dead now . . .
Relationships
- Caree -- A Firan slaver who is your guest for the weekend.
- Hralib -- Nobifa is Hralib's wife, whom he brought to Anarinuell to give great tracts of lands. A shame he ended up murdered this morning.
- Forlanis -- Nobifa's dear brother. They are quite close, as most Shamibelian women are to their brothers.
- Jalil -- One of Hralib's slaves, who is assigned to guard her house, serve her needs, and call her mistress. Nobifa is especially insistent upon the latter.
- Emma -- A talented beautician and one of Hralib's slaves, whom Nobifa makes the most use of.
- Melani, Empyrean, Rodiste, Orsatos, Perdita and Teonia -- the rest of Hralib's slaves.
Goals
- Nobifa should insist that Slave Emma the beautician make her beautiful and call her mistress--must enjoy the girl before she's given to Hralib's son Hashi, or auctioned off.
- Nobifa should prove that her "sister-wife", Pevifa is the real murderer.
- If Nobifa can't prove that Pevifa did it, she should at least prove that Hralib was killed on Pevifa's land.
- Nobifa should get Malentez to marry her. With Hralib gone and his slaves executed, she won't have anyone to clean her house unless she remarries!
- Nobifa should win a bet with Fissia--and the stakes should be Hashi's Skull-Cup.
- Nobifa should win a game of cards--she's a shark!
- Nobifa should try to arrange for the breeding of some good slave stock for Malentez--after all, she'll need good servants.

Nobifa Round One
Round One Reveal
Nobifa strongly suspects that Hralib must have gone to inspect the Temples on her sister-wife Pevifa's property, and was somehow killed there, on Pevifa's land. Such a shame, now it will have to be forfeit to the state.
Everyone knows that Pevifa was livid when Hralib not only married Nobifa but decided to take her to Anarinuell with them. She has always seen herself as the First Lady of Anarinuell, and to have her position usurped by Nobifa was something she never forgave in Hralib.
Pevifa was so unsure about her relationship with Hralib that she even suspected her own daughter, Fara, so she let the poor girl fall into slavery on her fourteenth birthday. Nobifa would never allow that to happen to one of her daughters.
Truthfully, Hralib considered his stepdaughter Fara more interesting than his own old wife! She knew it, which is why Pevifa and Hralib had recently argued bitterly over Fara's enslavement.
Nobifa knows that the rug Hralib was found wrapped up in was an old Tibenya heirloom that Pevifa brought with her to Anarinuell after the invasion.
Nobifa knows that Hralib refused to let Pevifa's daughter Tabitha marry the man she loved, Lainath, and she wished him dead because of it.
Nobifa knows that Hralib wanted to marry Tabitha off to one of his old friends, but she got it in her head that she was of the new 'liberal' generation, and was in love with Lainath Samiroon, who through a convoluted set of legal maneuvers, is a Shamibelian Warrior with some Firan blood. Hralib said that he'd let her marry Lainath "over my dead body" so it seems she gave him his wish!
Nobifa knows that on the Night of Obala's pride, Hralib chastised Tabitha for flirting with Lainath, and demanded that she take off her slutty Firan earrings.
Everyone knows that Hralib was a strong warlord. How could a dainty woman like Nobifa abduct, drown, and kill him? Besides, why would Nobifa kill Hralib when she could have simply invited another man to issue a challenge for her, and then chosen something that Hralib was bad at?
Round One Conceal
Tatomir never approved of the marriage between Hralib and Nobifa, because Hralib was married to Tatomir's sister, and now to his niece, which he thinks is incestuous and wrong somehow. Or at least, just plain greedy. Frankly, Nobifa felt the same way, and was kind of skeeved out to be married to Hralib.
Though Nobifa made a very public showing of her upset that she hadn't yet gotten pregnant by Hralib, she was secretly taking herbs to keep from getting pregnant because in Shamibelian culture, a marriage is not official until the first child is born.
Nobifa attended the Night of Obala's Pride party in a butterfly mask.
Forlanis used to live on Nobifa's land, and when Hralib married her, he kicked Forlanis out. Forlanis never forgave him.
Forlanis has been training Katriana as an assassin. Nobifa certainly hopes her brother didn't do anything rash on her behalf, like have Hralib killed.
Nobifa has been having an affair with War Lord Malentez Samiroon. If Hralib found out, such an insult in Shamibelian culture would lead almost inexorably to a duel to the death. Nobifa wouldn't have liked to see Malentez hurt.
Nobifa invited Malentez to make a challenge for her hand in marriage, but he thought it would be best to wait until after Hralib had finished clearing her land and set her up properly in Anarinuell.
Everyone knows that the Shamibelians were burning all the scrolls in the Great Library to make way for Nobifa to convert that building into her mansion, and that it was littered with piles of ash.
Round One Props
- a deck of cards
- instructions for a Shamibelian Game to Play
Nobifa Round Two
Round Two Reveal
Hralib never approved of the fact that his son Hashi's main way of making money was renting out his slavegirls at the brothel. Hralib always thought Hashi should do more raiding and land clearing. The tension between father and son could have caused a fatal confrontation.
Nobifa knows that she won the Skull-of-Taria cup in a game of chance against Fissia. Hralib loved that cup almost as much as he loved the Skull-of-Taleo cup, and he didn't like the way that Perdita was always looking at it. Funny that both cups are missing now, Hralib is dead, and Perdita is acting so suspicious every time it's brought up.
Scithvor lost his Skull-of-Taria cup to Hralib when Fissia, his wife at the time, lost it in a bet with Nobifa. So where did he get it, that he's been drinking from it all night?
Melani swore vengeance upon Hralib when he allowed her mother and father to be sacrificed to Obala after the invasion.
As well as Hralib generally treated Emma, he kept her apart from her father Jalil, and she may have resented it enough to kill him. Or maybe it was just being sent to live with Pevifa as her mistress that she hated. Either way, she may have made Hralib pay.
Emma helped Throgana get ready for the Night of Obala's pride, doing her hair and make-up and painting her nails as if she were a Shamibelian woman and not a slave girl.
Orsatos was supposed to take the 3am shift of guarding the Great Library after the Night of Obala's Pride, from raiders, but Nobifa knows for a fact that he wasn't there.
Hralib's body was wrapped in Pevifa's rug, and tied with blue ropes. Wasn't Empyrean learning rope-making?
Hralib's favorite armor is missing--the one that he had Savanna make him. Against her wishes, he forced her to melt down a token of the last Firan who tried to kill him in Anarinuell. A man named Udettos. Some Eagle Clan Firan who was married to either Savanna or Aylina, Nobifa can never remember.
Round Two Conceal
On the Night of Obala's Pride, Nobifa could not sleep. She thought it was unfair that Hralib was giving Pevifa the old Firan Temple District, but she was only getting the Great Library. She went to find Hralib, and found him dead in the Great Library, face first, in a dying fire.
Nobifa was horrified. Not only was Hralib dead, but he'd died on land being cleared for her! If anyone found out, the land would be forfeit to the state. She had to move the body, so she put her butterfly mask back on, and went to get Malentez.
Together, the two of them wrapped Hralib in a rug that Malentez had stolen from Pevifa's land during a raid. Then they tied him up with some blue rope they found laying by the body. Nobifa was worried, however, because Hralib was covered in ash, which would make people realize that he died burning scrolls. So she and Malentez decided to wash the body. They dragged it to the Temple of Zin, and plunged it into the frigid pool.
Unfortunately, Malentez isn't all that bright, and forgot to check Hralib's mouth for ash.
In any case, they dumped Hralib's body under the Great Marble Arch so that Pevifa would lose her land instead.

Round Three Reveal
Jalil vehemently objected to the mentoring role that Throgana took in teaching his daughter Emma to be a good slave.
Nobifa and Malentez actually found Hralib dead in a pile of ashes in the Great Library, which was to become her new estate--she didn't kill him.
When Malentez and Nobifa dragged Hralib's body to the temple of Zin, they smelled fire, like a funeral pyre, and it was burning in the Temple of Unot.
