Overview
Lady Nyla Teranzik, granddaughter of Lord Viceroy Taleo Teranzik, noted for her work as a healer and serving various clan and Republic ministerial offices, and more especially for her cold, aloof personality. She is the epitome of an icy Bear noblewoman, and the tasks she undertakes are those that are suitable and proper for her station.
Personality
Nyla's cold. Oh, she's pretty enough, though not a raving beauty, but she has such warm, approachable features -- and then you see her expression. Smile? Seldom. She seems to have taken a page out of the Ista Aldrik Manual of Comportment and Decorum, and has determined that the only proper way for a noblewoman to behave is as if she's had all the joy sucked out of her and replaced with decency and good sense.

Republic Minister of Health
In this official capacity, Nyla is responsible for keeping abreast of any new illnesses that sweep through the city, and coordinating efforts with the healers to keep the population appraised and protected.
Current Projects: A Republic Clinic. Compiling scrolls to complete the Chimeran Clinic's healing reference library.
Bear Clan Lower Court Judge
The Lower Court hears cases of secondary importance, and this work tends to be spread among the Judges.
Bear Clan Undersecretary of Propriety
Nyla works under Lady Endeera Shadina, and she and the ancient woman get along wonderfully.
Centurion: Republic, Fifth Division
As a member of the Fifth Division team of medics, Nyla has served in several war campaigns, and on the first tour to Ellish in 43 A.U. She tends to be a brisk, sensible medic, quick at analyzing injuries and providing relief.
Centurion: Bear Clan Medic
Nyla reports directly to Lady Petrina Ista Aldrik, and serves as her assistant.
Family Life
Nyla lives, like the rest of her family, within the Teranzik Estate. She and her husband share the room which once upon a time belonged to her mother, Lady Pia, now married to Lord High Priest Donos Ista Aldrik, and residing with the Royal Bear Family. Life in the Teranzik Estate is largely proper, occasionally less so, and the family tends to be as meddlesome in each others' affairs as one would expect.
Parents
Pia Ista Aldrik: Pia is a busy woman, having served numerous positions in her life that took her away from her household and her children, most prominently as Regent of the Griffon Clan, and now as the wife of Lord High Priest Donos Ista Aldrik. Nevertheless, Nyla and she get along well, and Nyla is always glad to have a chance to sit down to tea with her mother.
Leonus Teranzik: Leonus was Taleo Teranzik's eldest son, and was married to Lady Yasha Iberik before he married Nyla's mother, Pia. The couple had several children, while Leonus carried on a long military career that was sometimes fraught with disappointment, sometimes with honor. He was killed in 31 A.U. while defending Xegolus Teranzik from the Chimera. He and Nyla were never tremendously close, but perhaps that was mostly because he was gone or busy so often.
Siblings
Teonia Elianik: Teonia got married to Prince Savaren Elianik, so she's a Princess now, of course. They had a daughter, Princess Ellia, and a son, Prince Salvian, before Savaren died in battle reclaiming the city of Ellish in 42 A.U. She is now a widow, and she and Nyla don't seem to speak much.
Lianotia Teranzik: Lianotia at birth before Nyla was even born, and to hear Pia talk, she was perfect in every way. She never did anything, obviously, but Nyla can't help but feel that in some ways she gets compared to her perfect, dead sister, each and every day.
Talikos Teranzik: Talikos is the Bad Brother. He's loud, overeager, tends to insinuate himself in places that Nyla doesn't feel he has any right to be, and overall is a nuisance to her. He gets along well with Aria, too, she thinks. It figures. He's unmarried as of yet, so he still lives at home in the Teranzik Estate.
Aloran Teranzik: Aloran is the Good Brother. A bit younger than Talikos, he is more serious, a little pessimistic, and Nyla likes that. He's also unmarried, so they're able to spend more time together, being Proper. It's a good relationship.
Aria Teranzik: Aria is the youngest: kind of an airhead, and too pretty to boot, so Nyla doesn't have much use for her. She's going to be an adult any day now, though, so who knows what will happen when that takes place.
Half-Siblings
Fidonia Ista Aldrik: Fidonia is the baby Pia and Donos had before he died gloriously retaking Ellish. She's just a toddler, and Nyla doesn't have any kind of relationship with her.
Marriage
Tiernan Teranzik: Née Lord Tiernan Iberik, this young man is descended from Tergus Teranzik and Nalia Iberik, which makes him a nephew of her grandfather, Lord Viceroy Taleo Teranzik. Complicated, ja? It means he's her second cousin once removed, but basically, it means they're a good match in order to consolidate and strengthen the Teranzik bloodline. They were married in July of 40 A.U., and have had their differences, since her cool personality clashes with his warmer one, on occasion. Still, they create a united front on many issues, not least of which is the continuing familial pressure to have their first child, already!
Grandparents
Taleo Teranzik: Nyla's paternal grandfather is the Lord Viceroy of the city, and as such, is often in residence in the Palace rather than the family estate. She finds him interesting, and tries to spend time around him whenever possible. Additionally, he is the most substantial reason for her family's prominence in Anarinuell, and she is well aware of that.
Caelika Teranzik: Lord Leonus' mother, Nyla never met her and knows almost nothing about her.
Orikos Didoron: Lord Orikos, Nyla's maternal grandfather, fought in the Great War, was enslaved for a time, and afterwards was the mayor of Unotran. He came to Anarinuell in 18 A.U. or thereabouts, and was arrested in 23 A.U. for insulting a clan leader. The details are hazy, but somehow he was killed by his son Pertinax, in what was determined to be self-defense. Nyla never met him that she can remember.
Baphyra Marcus: A common woman that Orikos met while enslaved, they later were married after Orikos' first wife died. She carried noble title for a time, but some time after Orikos' death it was removed from her for orating without permission. She remarried, into the Marcus family, and died in 37 A.U. during the floods. Although she lived into Nyla's lifetime, the two were not close.
Step-Grandparents
Taria Oshta: Taleo's ill-fated marriages to Taria Oshta have become the stuff of legend. Married for love, it is said, and forced to divorce for a time when he held the Bear Clan Medallion, they are married once again. As a consequence of this union, Nyla has a great many aunts and uncles who are half-Ticanee, half-Bear, though most of these have reached an age of majority and have thus chosen to pledge their allegiance to one clan or the other. Taria herself is a wild, unpredictable woman, though of course Nyla is always perfectly proper to her, sometimes Taria herself is not. Nyla gets the impression that Taria doesn't like her all that much.
Great-Grandparents
Mauvia Teranzik: Lady Mauvia, the esteemed matriarch of the Teranzik family, had a distinguished career from her very earliest days. She served as a lady-in-waiting to Clan Leader Aldrik, and afterwards was enslaved for some time along with her sons, before they were able to escape. In her later days she was named Republic Minister of Propriety, as well as Bear Clan Minister of Entertainment. She died in 24 A.U. during an air raid. Nyla idolizes her great-grandmother, and her greatest aspiration in life is to be as good a Lady as Mauvia.
