Overview

Ojitar Firgalik, leader of the Gold Dragon Clan and the Royal Firgalik house, is the son of the Ticanee's Clan Leader Taria Oshta, and the former Gold Dragon Clan Leader, Jalil Firgalik. During his earliest years, Ojitar stayed with his mother in the Ticanee district, but before long he took up residence at the Firgalik household and was quietly groomed to become his father's heir. Despite this, when Jalil announced that he would retire and relinquish his medallion to Ojitar in 39 AU, it caused quite a shock.

Ojitar has a reputation in the Firan realms for being an optimistic, understanding, and virtuous young man. Though some among his clan question his tenuous bloodline, few would argue that he is not an even-tempered leader. Ojitar has a unique ability with being at home regardless of his surroundings; it is said that he fits in well with most types of people, be they Ticanee, Griffons, or his fellow Gold Dragons.

Family Life

Siblings

Ojitar has many brothers and sisters on both sides of his family. Only his eldest brother, Judanus Corinala, shares both Taria and Jalil as parents; the rest are half-siblings. On Taria's side (with her husband, the Viceroy Taleo), there are Taleena, Mateo, Melani, Empyrean, Tanya, Octavian, Arianna, Decimus and little Urtenus. On Jalil's side, there are Emil, Jaline, Emma, and Tazira.

Lilana was a special case, in that she was the adopted daughter of both Taria and Jalil, and she was close to her eldest brother until she died in childbirth.

Wives

Clan Leader Ojitar has only been married once. His wife is the former Princess Tia Elianik, daughter to Lady Lucretia Firgalik. and Prince Sadin Elianik. She has done much to cement his legitimacy on the throne with Gold Dragons who find his lineage distasteful, and seems to be a dutiful (if somewhat overly gregarious) Gold Dragon wife.

Children

Ojitar has three children thus far: Agrippa, his firstborn son and heir, Lucile (a daughter), and Jaden (his second son).

Accomplishments

Governor of Sarkaran

Before he was coronated, Ojitar served for a brief period as the Governor of Sarkaran. He saw over several projects, and did much to protect the city from Shamibelian raids.

The Red Dragon

Ojitar's first quest as an adult involved rescuing the Red Dragon, which was a sundered part of the broken chimera. He assisted in the rejoining as one of his first adventures in manhood. He is famous for it, because he returned to the city of Anarinuell actually riding the Dragon, which some took as a portent of things to come.

Coronation

Ojitar was finally coronated as Gold Dragon Clan Leader in 39 AU after his father Jalil made a surprise retirement announcement.

The Griffon Race

In a much publicized race between cousins and fellow Clan Leaders, Ojitar defeated Torianos rather easily before a crowd of many onlookers, while Tia and his children cheered wildly.

Dalumran

Clan Leader Ojitar refused to budge an inch despite the Cockatrice Clan Leader's repeated pleas that he turn over the city of Sarkaran to them, and the Gold Dragons seemed to support his unwavering stance in the face of their increasingly bitter rhetoric. In 42 AU he renamed the city to Dalumran as further response to Cockatrice demands for the return of 'their' territory.

Allies

The Ticanee

Even if Ojitar couldn't rely on his kinship and blood ties within the Oshta Family, the Ticanee themselves have always been very fond of their Oshta Taria's first son. They feel that with Ojitar in charge of the Gold Dragons, he would never let harm come to them, and as such, the Clan as a whole is supportive of Gold Dragons. Certainly a clan as large as the Gold Dragon Clan can't make much use of the Ticanee military in terms of alliance, but the clan's political power is useful and the Gold Dragons are pragmatic enough to pat the savages on the head and call them allies.

Enemies

It is no secret that Ojitar does not hold any love for Lord Rikon IstaNydiam. He is also quite antagonistic at times toward his wife Diamia, mostly over the contentious issue of Dalumran, which both Clan Leaders claim as their own. The rivalry between the Gold Dragons and the Cockatrice has gotten personal more than once, with Ojitar bringing up the scandals that led to the capture of Dalumran in the first place.

Scandals

Lost the Sword of Judano

That Ojitar famously went to war against the Shamibelians earned him credibility with the Gold Dragons. On the other hand, that credibility was put in jeopardy by the fact that he not only was captured by the Shamibelians, but he lost the Sword of Judano that his father gave him at his Ceremony of Souls. Gold Dragons wouldn't expect their soldiers to stay and die over a sword--although, they would really admire it if someone did. On the whole, the episode is a thorn in the side of Gold Dragons, and Ojitar's reputation as a warrior has been tarnished because of it.

The Chariot Affair

In the early days of his youth, Ojitar and his brother Judanus were foolish enough to steer a chariot with horses into the Diplomat Inn. This stunt got them barred from the place for several years and it injured a few bystanders as well.

The Dawn Raids

Ojitar was one of the movers and shakers behind the great Dawn Raids that ended Antonius' conspiracy against the Republic in 39 AU (also known as the Antonian Apostasy). While most would not call this a scandal, some say that the arrests and executions of Lords Neo, Kamen, and Audentus were just retribution for the Scirlut affair.

The City of Sarkaran

In Spring of 42 AU, a great tumult erupted surrounding the cities of Sarkaran and Nelabam, with Clan Leader Diamia claiming that the two cities were only held temporarily as per a peace treaty. Ojitar's own reading of the treaty in question revealed another perspective - and Clan Leader Jalil, his father and the drafter of the agreement itself, also spoke out against the Cockatrice interpretation. As a response to their rabble-rousing, Ojitar declared that the city was to be called Dalumran (City of Flint) instead of Sarkaran (City of Cockatrice). Many people in the Griffon and Cockatrice clans did not support him in this, and they began to call him the 'rat-bastard of Anarinuell'.

Bloodlines

Ojitar's primary scandal is his blood. His mother is half griffon and half Ticanee, his father half Gold Dragon and half Griffon. This makes Ojitar 25% Ticanee, 25% Gold Dragon, and 50% Griffon! The savage is bad enough, but having Griffon Clan blood is actually worse in the eyes of many of his clansmen. Any mistake will be magnified by these folks, for sure. And the freckles on Ojitar's face don't help.
