Old City Newsletter 07-22-07

Brisk fall winds whip and wind through the streets and canals of the Old City, more mild than many have seen in some time. Sameera and Vellutra found their way to the Barnacle one lazy day and Yelda joins them to sit outside, enjoying one of the last comfortable days before the snows hit. "Yanno? I miss Warrick somethin' fierce." Sameera grumbles.

"Me too," Yelda replied. "But it's probably fer th'best. I got enough stuff going on around here, what with them heroes busting everything up. Susia managed to get the window one of them went throughrepaired. 'Course it took a lot of stenis an' examinin' of th'back room, if ya know what I mean."

Vellutra sighed wistfully, shaking her head as she rested it against the wall of the Barnacle. "At least that's excitin'. Geloe had some party, but she didn't tell me it was all /women/ and proper women at that. Some new game she made up to let the hens cluck or whatever. I think I fell asleep behind the bar. They seemed to like it though."

Yelda glanced at Vellutra. "Yeah, I heard things is gonna get interesting 'round there though. Seems Keeshan is back, ain't he? You think he an' Geloe is gonna go to war over the Gambit?"

Vellutra only shrugged. "Cain' say yet. I guess we'll have t'wait an' see. Though, I did hear that Gladiator Rezzana went an' turned waller on us. I think her kid, Yozzana's still about though. Wonder if she'll follow her ma. Damned shame. You think all th'gladiators is gonna move t'th'walls?"

Sameera, silent until now, shook her head, a slight frown on her face. "No, not all of them. Not after that meetin' in th'Dagger a while back. Furen called some big meetin' an' shite went crazy... at least, compared t'th'playin' nice folks have been doin'. Asalan went after Karish at sword point, and Furen went after Raef, fists flyin'. Don't ask me what th'feck happened. Things has been tense since though, no one knowin' who t'trust who. I know people have been meetin' wit' people, but who knows? Maybe th'gang wars is gonna start up again.

"Course, with Farik bein' back and already gettin' inta fights, it wouldn't surprise me either. Seems he's back in town too, after tourin' th'cities lookin' fer someone. Probably Jaz. He got in some sort of fight or somethin' with Furen and some dude named Nosems, I gues. You think he's gonna try pullin' a Firatik? A Helena? Not t'mention Hypeius bein' seen 'round again."

Vellutra shook her head. "No, no, no... you missed th'worst part of everything. Yathel came in th'other day. I swear t'feck... HE WAS CLEAN. Yathel! That kid that ain' touched water since, well, since his ma probably spit him out! I thought th'world was gonna end."

Yelda smirked and shook her head at the two of them. "I really wish Warrik were around. He always knew everythin'. Well, so long as we keep each other informed an' Vellutra can come out from behind the bar... an' I don' buy you was sleepin'. I caught you eyein' th'Roulette croupier! Huh? Little playtime behind the bar>"

Vellutra gasped and the three dissolved into heated denials, accusations of numbers of one night stands, before setting off on their separate paths, they're eyes open, searching the Old City streets and hang outs for news and gossip, lamenting the old talemonger from days gone by.
