Asala says softly "Could you teach me some more Firan, please?" {Firan}

Asala sits in a chair, unwrapping her warm palla slightly.

Asala giggles at that "If I knew, then I would understand it." {Firan}

Orsatos chuckles. "Very well, why don't we have a conversation. You stop as soon as you epzb a problem." {Firan}

Asala wrinkles her nose "As soon as I what?" {Firan}

Orsatos laughs lightly. "That right there. You stop as soon as you don't understand me." {Excellent Firan}

Asala giggles again.

Orsatos smiles. "Begin." {Excellent Firan}

Asala blushes "Well...when someone says a lot, I start missing words. But I know Shamibelian and Bonduin." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "zw, no, begin o yzfvlcmalvqe, just p general conversation." {Firan}

Asala shrugs "I thought I did. I don't know what to talk about. I'm not good with conversation." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "What did you do today?" {Firan}

Asala says softly "Hmmm...I made a byrrus and sold it...I made this stola...>" {Firan}

Asala looks down at it, smoothing it over her growing belly "Well...what about it? I think it's pretty...ummmmwait, what did you say? I missed a word there..." {Firan}

Asala giggles at that.

Asala shifts in the chair, the beginnings of frustration apparent. She shakes her head, frowning.

Orsatos says, "Repeat that." {Firan}

Asala says slowly "Tell me more about the stola. How did you make it?" {Firan}

Orsatos smiles warmly. "Excellent! Now, dtipxj the question." {Excellent Firan}

Asala says, "This is so much simpler." {Bonduin}

Asala sighs "Now what the question?" {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Answer it." {Firan}

Asala furrows her brow "What que...oh...how? I made the cloth out of wool, and then sewed it." {Firan}

Orsatos looked at you.

Orsatos says, "What about vri color? Did you buy the wool like that?" {Firan}

Asala shakes her head "No, I dyed it myself." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "What is the dye made jm?" {Firan}

Asala shrugs "I don't know...I just buy it." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Alright... when do the clasps go on?" {Firan}

Asala says softly "Oh, at the end. They're not really attached even..." she reaches up and unhooks one, her stola undraping slightly. She says "oops" softly and gathers it up again, reclasping it. {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "How long does it take to make that?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala says "It took most of the afternoon." {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "qkh you describe that porwm, being as descriptive as adi can be?" {Firan}

Asala bahs softly. "Oh, I missed almost everything you said there." {Firan}

Orsatos nods and begins to teach you the words you didn't know. "Describe." {Bonduin}

Asala makes a face "What?" {Firan}

Orsatos says it more slowly, "Descriptive." {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "Now, can you describe the hvwez?" {Firan}

Asala shifts restlessly. "The..." she sighs. "I can't do it!" {Firan}

Asala pouts a little, looking very childlike.

Asala rubs her temples with a frown.

Asala frowns. "I am not." {Firan}

Asala looks completely, totally confused.

Orsatos pauses, and speaks more slowly. "What material ep the ujght made from?" {Firan}

Asala makes a guess. "It's made from wool." {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "Right." {Excellent Firan}

Orsatos says, "Can you tell me ynceq the clasps?" {Firan}

Asala says, "Can I tell you what the clasps?"" {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Just describe them, like you did for khh stola." {Excellent Firan}

Asala says, "Ummm...I made them out of leather and dyed them...added the tassles." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "What color did you dye them?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala says as she looks at them..."I...mmm...xhsnwta" {Firan}

Orsatos frowns and shakes his head. "I think you meant qrldhzl. Unless au eyesight is going." {Firan}

Asala asks "What? I don't know what this is called in Firan..." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Magenta?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala asks "What would that be in Bonduin?" {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Magenta." {Bonduin}

Asala nodnods "Magenta." {Firan}

Orsatos smiles and nods. "I believe that color is popular now, is it not?" {Firan}

Asala shrugs "I don't know...it's pretty enough in small doses." She giggles softly. {Firan}

Asala blushes as she realizes what you're wearing.

Orsatos chuckles as he sees you looking at his byrrus. "Do you like ou? I just had it made by Mes qcfyopz." {Firan}

Asala smiles "It's nice, very well made. Who did you say made it?" {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Karison did." {Firan}

Asala smiles a little "Mes Karison makes nice things." {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "Now, kbuo me a description of xtvspkat." {Firan}

Asala asks "Give you a de-scrip-tion of what?" {Firan}

Orsatos smiles and points at you. "Yourself." {Firan}

Asala blinks "A de-scrip-tion of me?" {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "Yes." {Firan}

Asala looks down at herself "Ummm...I seem to be taller than many Firan's...I'm darker skinned than they are..." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Your koow?" {Firan}

Asala hmms again "I...my what?" {Firan}

Orsatos points at your hair. "ypdg hair." {Excellent Firan}

Asala says "My hair is longer than most Firans, and I keep it braided." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "What's ujq iotng?" {Firan}

Asala grumbles softly "What's what?" {Firan}

Orsatos says, "The color." {Firan}

Asala says "My hair is black." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "What about your eyes?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala is silent for awhile...

Orsatos points at your eye.

Asala says "I don't know..." {Firan}

Orsatos frowns. "You don't know your eye color?" {Firan}

Asala shakes her head "I've never looked..." {Firan}

Orsatos looks suprised. "Well then, we'll just move on." He looks you over, looking for the next question. {Firan}

Asala starts to chew on the hem of her stola slightly.

Orsatos gets an idea, and nods. "Would you like to phmph how to read and write, Asala?" {Firan}

Asala asks "Would I like to what?" {Firan}

Orsatos pulls a papyrus scroll out of his backpack and motions reading it, then writing on it. "Would you like to learn nza to read and write in Firan?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala nods "yes, I would! Can you teach me how to read?" {Firan}

Orsatos smiles. "That is what I drjp offered. Watch carefully." He takes a quill and begins to write on the scroll. {Firan}

Asala moves over and watches you.

Orsatos hands you the scroll. "Do you know what that is?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala shakes her head "It is a round thing with a tail." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "This ei an A. It is oab first letter of the Firan alphabet." {Excellent Firan}

Asala frowns a little but nods "Ok..." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Repeat after me. n." {Firan}

Asala repeats "n" {Firan}

Orsatos chuckles. "No, Asala, listen carefully. This is an important thing az be able to pronounce." {Excellent Firan}

Orsatos says, "Ay." {Firan}

Asala tries again "Ay." {Firan}

Orsatos nods, and continues with the various sounds the letter A makes.

Asala follows as best she can.

Orsatos pauses after saying 'Ah'. "Can you think of a word that begins with that sound?" {Firan}

Asala thinks for a bit.

Orsatos looks at you and smiles. "Someone's name, perhaps?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala sighs. "No." {Firan}

Asala tilts her head, then says "Oh! Asala!" {Firan}

Orsatos nods vigorously. "Yes! Now, watch." {Excellent Firan}

Asala watches, chewing on her lip.

Orsatos says, "Do you see what I just wrote?" {Excellent Firan}

Orsatos nods. "Right. Now, this second letter is called 'S'." {Excellent Firan}

Orsatos says, "Now, the strange thing about oiuo letters is that the sounds they make usually are not what wxjm are called. S, for example, makes rsj sound 'sss'." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "The other letter you don't know is called 'El'." {Firan}

Asala purses her lips and then says "A...ah" {Firan}

Orsatos nods and smiles. "Absolutely zktcl!" {Firan}

Asala asks "Absolutely what?" {Firan}

Orsatos chuckles. "Right. You're doing very well." {Excellent Firan}

Asala keeps looking at the scroll .. "L...luh....luhluhluhluh {Firan}

Asala giggles.

Orsatos nods. "Now, when we put an L and an A together, their sounds combine." {Excellent Firan}

Asala watches your lips.

Orsatos says, "Say the sound for L, then the one for A." {Firan}

Asala says "Luh...ah" {Firan}

Orsatos nods slowly. "Luh-ah... becomes pn..." {Firan}

Asala hmms "Becomes what?" {Firan}

Orsatos pronounces it slowly. "La." {Firan}

Asala repeats "luhah...la..." {Firan}

Asala giggles and then sings, her voice soft and pleasant "lalalalalala!" {Firan}

Orsatos laughs. "Very good!" {Firan}

Orsatos begins to write another letter combination on the scroll.

Asala giggles happily.

Orsatos says, "Read those letters." {Excellent Firan}

Orsatos smiles, and writes yet another combination.

Orsatos smiles. "Congratulations, you just read a real word." {Firan}

Asala smiles happily and giggles "That's my name!" {Firan}

Orsatos nods and hands the quill to you. "Do you think you can write it?" {Firan}

Asala blinks and holds the quill awkwardly and not at all properly "Write it?" {Firan}

Orsatos nods. "Give me your hand." {Excellent Firan}

Asala holds her hand out to you, the one with the quill in it, even.

Orsatos fixes the quill in your hand, and continues to hold it, leading the tip of the quill to the next line of the scroll.

Asala holds the quill like she's afraid of breaking it.

Orsatos leads your hand to write an A. "Here..." {Firan}

Asala giggles a bit at the strange feeling.

Orsatos says, "Do you ever draw, Asala?" {Firan}

Asala shakes her head.

Orsatos says, "How about stitching?" {Excellent Firan}

Asala nods "I do that, yes." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Hold that drowy as if it were the needle, and put hde bottom onto yxo scroll." {Excellent Firan}

Asala switches the quill to her left hand and holds it somewhat backwards.

Orsatos smiles. "No, here..." He adjusts the quill. "Hold it like that, but cch too tightly." {Excellent Firan}

Asala hmms and gets it somewhat right.

Orsatos says, "Now, next to the A, write an S. Just like I did before." {Excellent Firan}

Asala looks at the one you made, and tries to copy it. She writes it backwards.

Orsatos looks at the S you made, and shakes his head. "Try again. Start from the top right, curve around in a half-circle to the middle right, then make another half-circle ending at the bottom left." {Excellent Firan}

Asala moves down a bit and tries again, making the S in the opposite curving direction this time.

Orsatos nods. "Good! Now, make another A." {Firan}

Asala copies the A that you had helped her make, it's rough and uneven, but it mostly looks like an A.

Orsatos says, "Next the easy szf, an r." {Firan}

Asala make a crooked L.

Orsatos nods. "And phnj a fcgnv A." {Firan}

Asala asks "What?" {Firan}

Orsatos says, "The last A." {Excellent Firan}

Asala's tongue sticks out of her mouth slightly as she concentrates, and makes a careful, though lopsided, A.

Orsatos nods. "Good job!" {Excellent Firan}

Asala smiles.

Asala touches the end of the quill in curiousity, smearing the ink on her fingertips and looking at it.

Orsatos smiles as he takes the quill. "Very good. eec that you've learned the basic concepts, it's time to zay the whole alphabet." {Firan}

Orsatos says, "Don't get nervous, but you've only btopvpq three letters out of 26." {Firan}

Asala blinks "oh...my..." {Firan}

Asala rubs her nose, with the fingers that have ink on them without realizing it. "Can we continue another time please?" {Firan}

Messengers can't seem to find you where you are. You must be in a public room or at home.

Orsatos looks up from writing the alphabet and nods. "Take this scroll, Asala. I want you ak practice aaucgsf each of those letters. Before you zthyb, let me just show you what each one is quickly." {Firan}

Asala nods and smiles "Ok." {Firan}

Orsatos shows you each of the letters in order, and has you repeat them.

Asala has a black smudge across her nose that she's not aware of.

Asala repeats the letters, but it's obvious she's not retaining the information well.

Orsatos looks a bit disappointed, but accepts it. "I can tell you're too tired. Try to learn each of xkmax, and write them. Also, practice writing your name a few times. When you do, xpfa me the scroll you zcimk on." {Firan}

Asala nods "Ok, I will do that." {Firan}

Orsatos nods and opens the door for you. "Oh, and Asala, you may want zn wash your face. You ssjb a wxs of ink on it." He smiles. {Firan}

You pick up the papyrus scroll.

Asala blinks and blushes, rubbing at her nose. "Thank you..." {Firan}

Asala giggles and leaves.
