Perle has always had a mean streak, but as she grows older she's managed to fine-tune it; where once she was openly cruel, she is now a master of manipulation. A keen student of human nature, she has learned to spot weaknesses for exploitation - particularly in boys - and delights in their misery. She's sarcastic by nature, but manages to temper that when around people in authority, doing her best to appear as a good Hydran girl. She loves pretty jewelry (but will only indulge herself on this count on special occasions), and has very high ambitions for herself, which she plans to achieve through her wits and guile. For all her unpleasantness though, she is shy when complimented and the girl has a soft spot for animals, displaying a natural empathy for all things furry.

Parents
Mother: Dantana Dantana is less a mother and more just some woman who comes around sometimes to turn Perle's world upside down. When she was younger, she would miss Dantana and be happy whenever she breezed back into her life for a spell. However, as she grew older, she became more resentful toward the woman who gave birth to her and her tendency to mess everything up. Their relationship has deteriorated to the point where Perle will only communicate using one word answers when pressed and will refuse to even look at her 'mother'. This makes for a rather awkward situation now that she's back in Dantana's care.
Father: Hugannelli(d) Hugannelli was also a mostly-absent parent (although not as bad as her mother) but Perle does not view him with the same venom with which she regards Dantana. After all, he was a man and men are naturally stupid -- this predisposition towards stupidity is clearly evidenced in the manner in which he got himself killed. Mostly, her opinion of her father is neutral and apathetic.
Siblings
Joie. Joie is Perle's sister, and through all of the many caregivers and crazy bouncing around that the girls have endured, they have always been together. They're extremely close, and very protective of each other. Perle would have to cause serious damage to anyone who even thought about hurting Joie. Not that Perle doesn't play her share of tricks on her sister -- but that's different! Joie was married once to Zateen (he died at war) and is now married to a man named Dryphus. She seems happy, but Perle will meddle all the same.
Aspalathos. One of Dantana's bastards. Sure, Hugannelli accepted the boy as his own but everyone knows that Aspalathos was probably not his. Although close in age, Perle has put a great distance between herself and her (half-?) brother. In her eyes, he represents all of their mother's shortcomings and how she failed them. She deals with him cooly, if at all. He always seems to be trying to protect her and keep her from doing the things she wants to do; this annoys Perle to no end and she rebels against these attempts to keep her in line. He's a boy and boys are stupid; what makes him think that he knows what is best for her? The dumb oaf probably has 'left' and 'right' written on his boats so not to get confused.
Rodarius. Although he respresents the same sins as Aspalathos does, for some inexplicable reason, Perle likes her brother Rodarius. While not overtly affectionate with him, she will give Roddy the occasional hug and share her sweets with him when they have the rare opportunity to enjoy such decadent pleasures.
Mazel. Who knows who Mazel's father is but, since she's a girl, Perle is more forgiving of her questionable parentage. She sees a lot of herself in Mazel's behavior and sometimes views her as a kindred spirit while other times sees her as competition. Perle is just as likely to give her sister a grin as she is to pinch her hard when no one is looking.
