Piloting regulations
From FiranMUX
The Republic Aviary
These rules and regulations relate to the military Aviary, its control and its management.
- The Aviary, home to the griffons and eagles of the Republic Armed Forces, is HIGHLY RESTRICTED in terms of access. Only ACTIVE Air Force pilots, farriers, and any Armed Forces soldier of the rank of Commander or above may enter the Aviary alone, and freely. Other individuals MUST be accompanied by one of the above, or have secured direct permission to enter the Aviary unescorted from a Commander or officer of higher rank.
- The Republic Aviary is controlled and maintained by the Republic military farriers and Air Force
Republic Pilots
These rules and regulations directly relate to the pilots during the execution of their duties. Whilst this list also impacts clan pilots it is possible that they may have some different orders, rules or regulations in place. This should be checked with your clan officers.
- Griffon pilots should contact city guardsmen when witnessing a crime, as they are not normally empowered to make arrests on their own.
- Air Force pilots may take citizens on flights on their griffons. Pilots and citizens who do this, however, should be aware that any injury or accident which occurs in the course of such flights is the sole responsibility of the pilot or officer who has ordered the transport of the civilian in this instance. Injury to civilians, save in terms of the use of griffons in the apprehension of criminals, WHETHER OR NOT THE CIVILIAN ENCOURAGED THE INCIDENT, will be considered the fault of the pilot, who will be punished accordingly. Injury to griffons will also be considered the fault of the pilot.
- While pilots may offer rides to civilians at their discretion, such rides may not be offered for monetary gain or in the pursuit of commercial interests without the express permission of the unit's Commander
- Overflights by clan griffons of the Palace District and other clan districts are permitted, but unruly griffons or poor pilots may be impounded pending arbitration by the Clan Council.
- Aerial combat in the Capital is not permitted by anyone other than Republic soldiers or Clan soldiers acting in the defense of their clan district or the city itself by an outside threat.
Griffon Control
These are the rules currently in force which relate to ensuring griffon animals and giant eagles are kept in a way which does not endanger Firan life.
- Griffons are dangerous beasts, and they are also vicious. It is essential to keep griffons out of large crowds or gatherings of people, as the beasts may escape the control of the rider. (relevant news files: News Anikos' Folly)
- Griffons must be kept at a safe distance away from horses at all times. Griffons and horses are natural enemies, and it is quite possible for a pilot to lose control of a griffon who spots a tasty horse.
