Player Helper TP Expectations

With the emphasis on tinyplots for players, it is important to uphold a set of good standards for the PHers involved. Just as the wizstaff is there to help us with TPs, we need to make sure that we are on the ball for them.

Remember: It is OKAY to ask a wiz for assistance. You want to run it with minimum @911ing but if you need the wizards, ask for them!! Please also read over How to Run a TinyPlot. Helpful stuff!

  • Get Approval.

Step one in any PHer TP is plot approval. Use this format: TinyPlot Worksheet. That page includes an example plot tree.

  • Organize What You Need.

TPs can range from very simple to rather complex, even on the PHer level. Some TPs might need more "stuff" than others and that's okay. The easiest way to get what you need is to write it all down in a detailed outline and @request that outline. It's hard on staff to take care of things only to have you ask for more later, so the more detailed and precise you are, the easier their job! The goal is to make the work as minimal as possible and organization will help that.

PHers and PHer plot IVs /may/ request to have a description set on their plot PC. You have to write it. Odds are pretty good your plot IV may need clothes, weapons, or armor, so make sure to include that in your "what I need" @request after your TP is approved.

This is important: Participants (supporting IVs and such) are expected to be JUST AS PREPARED as the GM. Rely on your GM, but remember that he or she has many balls in the air. Be there for him or her.

  • Be Prepared.

It sounds droll but the last thing you want is to discover you left something to the very last second. GMing is tough enough, don't make it harder on yourself by not having all your ducks in a row. Make sure you have created your plot IV, all your items are set, and any assistance you have is waiting in the wings.

  • Leading Your TP

By this point, you should be all set, but if you run into problems, don't be afraid to ask for PHL or wizard help. (try those PHLs first!) Read over 'help interpreting @checks' for some valuable GMy information. @check-full TPs can get dull; psychological twists are much better! Players will surprise you, so surprise them back; if they choose a different path than expected, make it tough on them. Make them work for things!

Feel free to really dig into the TP. Test thematic, core values and see what the players/characters are willing to do. Give it meat not by doling out damage, but by challenging characters. If you find you get stuck, again, ask a PHL. If you find you forgot something, ask on the PHer channel politely for some assistance.

  • After the Crazy!

After you finish your TP, you may wish to share (if there were no secrets revealed) some info on the wiki. Feel free to put up logs and visit Player Helper Tinyplots.
