Overview

Querash -- Lord Querash Shadina before his downfall -- is a man of charm and exquisite manners. In fact, before he was disowned, he may have very well been the epitome of his family's motto: "a Policy of Politeness". For a man who seemingly had it all, good looks, charisma, wealth, nobility -- he would lose it all in an rash, impudent marriage in 28 A.U. He held hope that he might recover his position but before he could achieve this he would die in the fight for Ellish.

Family Life

Parents

Querash's mother, Naxa, was killed and raped by Shamibelians during the Air Raid of 24 A.U. He joined the military the day she died and it is said that he missed her deeply.

Querash is often told -- or was often told, before he was disowned -- that he's the spitting image of his father Isio. He hasn't seen him in a long time.

Siblings

Dedalion Shadina

Querash's only brother, was murdered by his sponsoree Ojafi Vettle in 34 A.U. Or so it seemed, but eventually Wendos Aedilik confessed to the crime.

Zelva Shadina

Querash and his sister were never particularly close, but they still got along relatively well, considering.

Marriage

Querash gave up everything in order to be married to Cyrilla. He lost his nobility, his family once he was disowned, his possessions, everything. He loved her and the pair married in secret, but when the marriage was discovered, they were sentenced to be outcasts for three years. Eventually, Cyrilla would ask for a divorce and regain her former status, while Querash ended up with nothing.

Children

Fidiana Daedalus

Querash only has one child: Fidiana. She was taken from their care while he was still married and put into Pamella's care at the Shadina Estate. Now, she lives with her mother and Querash never had much contact with his daughter.

Accomplishments

A Heroic Death

Querash, once Querash Shadina, went to war with both sword and quill -- carrying his sword into battle, and scribing wills outside it. There are few Bear clan citizens who have lived as diverse a life as Querash: born a commoner, ennobled, stripped of his title, and finally received as a hero. But heroism never came easily to Querash, and he paid for it with his life. At the gates of Ellish, Querash threw himself between a host of young Bear soldiers and a lightning bolt from the Tower of Obala. It is said the lightning struck so hard and so sharp, it pierced him like a mighty spear. But Querash was not lucky enough to die on the spot. "If twenty winters lived on the streets of the Old City haven't killed me," Querash declared, "No Drik-forsaken lightning will." Death came slow to Querash, but indeed it did come. To his attending healer, he confided (and the story, as these things do, spread), "I was Fidelia's most loyal citizen, and she struck me down. Years I have spent in her shadow. Years I have resented her. I betrayed her, they say -- certainly that is what /she/ said -- but the truth is my only crime was to love her. I love her even still. If that is why she sent me hence, let it come between us no longer. I beg of you, Fidelia: let my soul pass from Aerval out of the darkness of your shadow, into the light of your smile." And so Querash ex-Shadina breathed his last.

Scandals

Marrying a Commoner

When Querash fell in love with Cyrilla, he fell -- and fell hard. Unable to wait for permission to marry, the two eloped while on a pilgrimage to the Oracle. When they returned, they were soon discovered. Querash begged then-Proxy Fidelia Ista Aldrik to allow him to remain married, to take anything else from him but his wife. And so she did. The pair lost everything, their titles, their families, their possessions. They had to live as outcasts for three years and beg for their food, as they were forbidden from holding any sort of respectable employment.

Being Disowned

As a result of marring a commoner, Querash was stripped of everything. His possessions, his title, and perhaps what hurt the most: his family. No longer a Shadina, or an Actis, or anything else, Querash unfortunately has little contact with his family these days.
