RP Hooks & Scenes

Stuck for something to do or at a loose end? Here are some tips for different social classes on roleplay hooks and scenes. The below list not only includes places and ideas but also some of the hooks and scenes are intended to encourage thematic play (such as roleplay with priests, interaction with nobles etc.)
Overview
- Go to each of the temples (just the one for the Monotheists) ask for guidance on problems (marriage/children/work/how to best please the gods). If a Monotheist, ask a priest to explain why the other clans don't believe that Zutiv is the one true god (news religion).
- Look for people in @hubs, every hub is not only a public place on the grid, it's also somewhere just about any character can go in order to both do something relating to their daily life, and for you the player to seek out roleplay. For example, if you find someone in a tavern go to try and share a drink with them, talk about the things that are making your character happy or sad over a drink and try to make a new friend.
- Go to the temples to pray. Each temple is a @hub (see help @hubs) so just being there in public is good for you, but if you're in there other people are likely to come in. Roleplay out your prayers, ask other people what they pray for.
- Ask people what it's like in their clan, compare differences - be proud of your clan and defend it if they criticise it.
- Find people on the grid and engage them in roleplay to ask what life is like as a (priest/merchant/tailor etc.) compare it to your own life, speculate about whether you could do their job.
- Check the social board (@bb/read 41) and roleplay about it. If someone in your clan has been given a social boost or a hit, talk to other people in your clan about it - discuss how your nobles are better than other clans whenever you see another clan's noble given a sizeable hit. Absolutely roleplay about the social board, it's the key indicator for what the general populace thinks and can provide a scene with every single posting.
- Check the IC events board and roleplay about the events that are happening in the city. If you've missed an event, seek someone out to ask them what it was like. If you were at an event, talk to others about how great or terrible it was.
- If you have any children in your family, then find out what they've been up to. Just about every child on the game has done something wrong at least once a day.
- If you have a key event in your life or your family happening, then seek out a priest (check holy/list) for a blessing. It doesn't have to be a coded blessing - religion is a daily part of life for the Firan people.
- Go to the baths, stay in there and proactively engage the people who enter in roleplay. The baths are one of the few socially-mixed areas where you can comfortably sit alongside the noble and commoner alike. Talk about how the bath staff aren't as good as they used to be, or on the attractions of the towel girls. If a woman, see if a towel boy is on and get them to give you a massage.
- Make use of one of the male and female emits that occur from time to time. These pop up at random and are there to provide you with an idea for RP, if you're having trouble thinking of one. Alternately, even if you don't currently have an emit, you can still choose to act out one of your favorites.
