RP Hooks for Nobles

Take a peek at the Clans pages and brush up on info about Nobles.

Check your @sheet/relationships and ask on your clan channel to find the servants to your household. Order them around (casually or directly depending on your @sheet). Send them to make you food, bring you wine. Seek them out for casual praise or admonishment (your food wasn't hot enough, boots haven't been cleaned, dusting wasn't done). If you have a senior servant then ideally pass the praise or telling off through them to keep the servants own social order.

Anytime someone from your family is on, approach them in conversation. Talk about the rest of the family, their children, your own children etc. Ideally, bring commoners connected to your household into the scene so they can overhear the conversation and gossip about it afterwards.

If male, check your @sheet/relationships for other noblemen and invite them out for a drink, talk about the events of the day and reinforce your friendship with them. If female, seek out other noblewomen of your clan and invite them to take tea, show off your furniture, compare perfumes, complain about the servants etc.

Seek out your sponsorees (check your @sheet/relationships and news sponsor) and invite them to let you know how they are doing, the sponsor-sponsoree social contract is a key part of the game and the setting. If they've got any significant difficulties you should assist them where you can (so they can send you a gift later), as long as it's something that your character would do. If they raise up something utterly mundane (finding it hard to find chickens etc) then be bored at them and change the subject.

Check through your family and see if anyone is unmarried, if so roleplay with them about marriage, and your head of house. Marriages and the alliances they bring are a fundamental part of the game. If you know of other nobles with unmarried children or relatives then seek them out to roleplay about it, ask who they are thinking of allying with.

Approach Nobles and Sharanis (news sharanir) in your clan's military or government and ask how things are, you can seek to gain favours by assisting them or simply lending a sympathetic ear to the burdens of their work. If you think someone isn't doing their job, then talk to their superiors, especially if you think you can do it better, politics and backstabbing are key traits for many nobles in the city.

Seek out those nobles who have had significant social adjustments and congratulate or commiserate with them. If they're from a clan your clan isn't too friendly with, you can send a gloating message, or roleplay with the nobles of your own family and express false-pity for them.

Go to the bank and roleplay dealing with your finances when people enter, discuss how terrible it is that many commoners are becoming as rich as nobles and that something needs to be done!

For noblemen, go to the Honorias or the Dove, you can go just to enjoy the company of women and have them entertain you with song, dance and alcohol. You don't have to Eesha (help ritual/Eesha) them to enjoy good roleplay in their company, and their players will absolutely appreciate your effort. For noblewomen, invite other noblewomen to tea, or seek out perfume makers and tailors and ask for a display of their wears, then pay for it yourself or push your husband/brother/father into buying you something nice.

If you have weapon skills, seek out other noblemen to practise with. The Firans are a warrior people who greatly admire skill at arms. Start practising for the Clan Olympics and discuss how well your clan did last year/will do in the year to come. Noblewomen can encourage noblemen to do this, shame them into improving themselves and the clan by talking about how you've seen nobles of other clans practising and why aren't they?
