Overview
Mer Raheem Firabi was born the second son of Mer Orus, head of the Firabi family, and Mes Riosa. Born 6 years before Unification, Raheem lived through the horrors of having to flee the Shamibelians when he was a child, loosing his mother and baby sister in the process. They were enslaved by the Shamibelians while he and his father and brother managed to get to Caldera City where they nearly starved. After the war was over however, his family was reunited and they settled down in the Firabi Family Home to the north-east of Anarinuell, settled upon land given to them by Ranivor Elianos. A rather laid-back man, for a Gold Dragon anyway, Raheem grew up in his brother's shadow and always strove to please his father. He was hampered by a hero complex however, always wanting to save people which lead to a disastrous marriage in his early twenties, which lead to a quick divorce the moment their first child was born. For years afterwards Raheem lived only to repair the damage his marriage had caused by working as a carpenter and studying land management. He became the good son after his brother mysteriously disappeared and his sister made a very unfortunate unfortunate marriage to a man who couldn't prove to be of proper Gold Dragon blood. By the time his son was old enough to establish a family of his own, Raheem married himself a second time, to a proper Gold Dragon woman this time, who made him stepfather to 4 young boys as well as blood father for 4 more children, 2 sons and 2 daughters. Although clearly middle aged, Raheem enlisted in the clan and republic military and managed to find glory for himself as one of the best artillery men found within the city, participating in the raid on Shamibel on his very first mission. After a few years his term of service was up however and he retired, focusing instead on the family farm and his carpentry business. Shortly after his son Ranuk was cast out of the family, Lady Tia Firgalik asked Raheem and his wife to become live-in caretakers of Zutiv's Blessing Orphanage, a position he gladly accepted since it allows him to spend time with children and teaching them how to be good Gold Dragon citizens.
Family Life
Parents
Raheem thought the world of his father Orus and worked really hard to get back into his father's good graces after the debacle of his first marriage. Orus was a silent partner in the shop Raheem was working at and Raheem made sure that he learned all he could about farming so he could help his father on the family land. Orus's death left a deep hole in Raheem's heart and he named the first son born after this tragedy after his father.
Raheem is very close to his mother Riosa who has helped him raise Ranuk when he was all by himself. He knows she is very proud of him but worried extensively when he served in the republic military. Riosa collects dolls and Raheem is always on the lookout for more for her collection.
Siblings
Raheem's older brother Arunos was the example he always had to live up to. Arunos went to war, he served the Firan people as a delegate, and was the apple of their parents's eye. After all these years, Raheem still can't make head or tail of his brother's disappearance and is still offering a reward for anyone who has any information about him. His youngest son Rahunos has obviously been named after his big brother.
Raheem was always very protective of his little sister Raya, even if he didn't always agree on her decision to marry Kenaki. Just before Raya was executed, he promised her that he'd always look out for her remaining child Sedarius.
Raheem's youngest brother Tabarus is actually younger than Raheem's oldest son. Tabarus is now a grown man himself and Raheem is very proud of him, teaching him all he wants to about being a good land manager and hunter. Tabarus is now married himself and Raheem is rather glad with his choice since Elyssa had before her marriage been working at Zutiv's Blessing Orphanage and so he knows her to be a good and proper woman who loves children.
Spouses
Raheem has been married twice.
Raheem married Mes Aneena when he was very young and foolish and in a fit of romance. She was an orphan of the Eagle clan and needed help, love, support... and Raheem thought he could offer her all these things. In the end however, these things didn't prove enough to satisfy Aneena and the couple divorced on bad terms, with Raheem claiming sole custody of their newborn son Ranuk.
Raheem married Mes Uryella Aegrotik at June 21 in the year 34 A.U. She needed a husband and he needed a wife young enough to give him more children. Although the marriage was arranged, the couple had a few months to court one another before they were wed and Raheem can honestly say that he's now very happily married. Uryella had 4 sons from her first marriage who moved in with her and Raheem ended up being not only a husband but a father to a handful of boys all at once. This was not an unpleasant experience however and even though the oldest three have now moved out they're still close to the man who's practically raised them. Since his new wife was a reliable mother, Raheem finally felt he was entitled for a bit of Gold Dragon glory and enlisted in the clan and republic military where he became known as one of the best artillery men one could find. The couple has so far been blessed with 4 children, 2 boys and 2 girls and currently resides at the Zutiv's Blessing Orphanage as the live-in caretakers.
Children
Ranuk was born on July 30 in the year 17 A.U. from Raheem's first marriage. Since Ranuk had no mother, Raheem felt obliged to avoid any risks to himself and so didn't become a warrior as is generally expected of all Gold Dragon men, he wanted his son to have at least one parent. Ranuk grew up into a fine young man and married a young Gold Dragon woman, Ryanna, who gave Raheem his first grandchild, a daughter they named Callista. However, after Sedarius was given the position of head of the Firabi family instead of him, Ranuk began to sulk and was eventually cast out of the family after Ryanna claimed that he had said that Lord Proxy Ojitar had been bribed.
Magda Firabi was born on December 8 in the year 34 A.U. and is the image of a quiet, perfectly behaved Gold Dragon girl. Often lost in a world of her own, Magda likes to dream and just observe the world rather than get in the trouble her many brothers are up to.
Rodrus Firabi was born on May 2 in the year 36 A.U. and is his father's son. Like Raheem he's a happy, enthusiastic lad and he loves to emulate his father, to the point of drawing on a goatee with mud every chance he gets.
Mirella Firabi was born July 5 37 A.U. and if Magda is the perfectly quiet Gold Dragon girl, then she is the perfectly spoiled Gold Dragon girl who knows just how to wind her parents and brothers around her cute little finger.
Rahunos Firabi was born on February 7 in the year 39 A.U. and looks remarkably like his father. A curious child, Rahunos tends to ask endless questions and likes nothing better but to toddle after his big brothers for the next 'adventure'.
Yaron Aegrotik is not technically Raheem's son but since he has been raised by Raheem since he was but 3 years old, neither one of them cares about technicalities. Yaron was born November 19, 30 A.U. and is a lot like Raheem himself personality-wise. Raheem often takes him along on carpentry jobs or chores about the farm.
Accomplishments
Raid on Shamibel
Raheem Firabi is widely known to be one of the best artillery men in Anarinuell and perhaps even in the whole republic. He never knew much about this though until he enlisted in the republic military. Clan Leader Jalil Firgalik was looking for volunteers for a very secret mission which would help in freeing his heir Lord Proxy Ojitar who had been captured at war, and Raheem volunteered. This mission was the famous raid on Shamibel which needed a lot of good artillery men. Raheem proved himself that day and was named a hero of the republic. So much did he impress his superiors that he quickly rose through the ranks and ended up becoming a captain in the republic artillery's unit before it was dismissed.
Zutiv's Blessing Caretaker
Raheem and Uryella were asked by Lady Tia Firgalik to become the live-in caretakers for Zutiv's Blessing orphanage after the Lady Firgalik became displeased with the former caretakers and wanted someone more reliable. The couple is very much aware of the great honour bestowed upon them and look after the orphans in their care as if they were their own children.
Scandals
Marriage to Aneena
Rumour has it that Aneena was somehow responsible for the Firabi Family loosing some very valuable possessions and the marriage was so bad that Raheem just waited for the child to be born, taking it from his mother's arms and refusing her to have any contact with the child ever since.
